- This is a showcase of an upcoming effect level made entirely by MCres. I don't think I've seen much of their work before this, so I was pleasantly surprised to have a level this as good my first introduction to them. However, before that, I'd like to mention that I did see this level getting some attention on Twitter, and not only good attention. MCres shared their thought process and the theme behind the level, which a lot of people disagreed about and went way too far in expressing. I think the beauty of Geometry Dash-as it is in every art form-is how levels can be interpreted in completely different ways depending on the player (or viewer in this case). We should respect that. Personally, I think it's cool to hear the thought process behind the theme of a level regardless of whether I see it myself or not.
As mentioned at the start, this is focused on effects which should be clear from watching. What surprised me is that the level is over 4 minutes long but still manages to keep surprising from part to part, whether it's in specific effects or just the overall presentation. The level is also mostly grayscale, which would usually make me find it boring, but other parts of the visuals are able to keep it interesting regardless. It does become more colorful at the most intense parts, which is good.
In terms of difficulty, this will be an Extreme Demon once released as said in the title. I can't say I could imagine playing much of this and finding it enjoyable personally, but that's due to the chaotic nature of it which probably adds a lot to the difficulty. It looks difficult to read on top of the hard timings. This is a consequence of many of the effects. On the other hand, it does make the visuals and gameplay go hand in hand. It'll definitely not be everyone's cup of team gameplay-wise, and probably even visually from some of the responses I've seen. Regardless of all that, though, I have to say that "CONNECT" is a really cool introduction to MCres and I'm excited to see their future works. If there aren't any major gameplay or performance issues, I think this deserves an Epic rating.

Honestly, this type of level only happens in a fit of absolute focus and passion, served by sone drive, MCres turned his struggle and formed art.
Perhaps he, and many other people will cook MUCH MORE in 2.2, and hopefully not abuse the living fuck out of the new effects...

mcres is extremely underrated. he has a very unique style and being able to build extremely good looking xl levels like this in such a short amount of time is very impressive. i hope this will give him more recognition, he really deserves much more

it was really sad seeing all the negative attention this level got on twitter, but i’m glad that at least here people can appreciate the level for what it is and what it means. i’m super proud of mcres, they deserve all the positive attention in the world ❤
it always annoyed me that this level was getting shat on so much on twitter, i feel like it's so cool that someone felt comfortable enough in the community to artistically demonstrate their own depression, it's really not easy to do that
According to MCres this level was created with the intention of expressing the struggle with depression, and while I personally couldn't quite see it I still think it's an amazing level all around. No clue why this got the hate it did 😭
a lot of gdtwt people will see something they mildly dislike and criticize it way more than necessary which causes people to be like "wow this person i like said something i should agree with the thing" and it snowballs into a new controversy

I absolutely adore when a level that’s black and white for most of its runtime suddenly bursts with color near the end. It adds so much life that earlier parts felt like they lacked.
Also the effect at 3:33 was epic.
I have never heard of the creator before and this is yet another creator that leaves a great first impression on me. The effects look clean and bring a lot of energy to the levels, which kept me locked to the screen for the whole time. I am usually not someone who is super interested in effect heavy levels, but this one kept bringing new interesting ideas to the table which made kept me interested all the way through. I love how it adds colors into the mix at the end, while keeping the quality the same. Overall I am quite surprised how much I liked the level, with how clean everything looked and with how MCres was able to keep me interested all the way through by creating so many unique effects. Really hope they can keep up this quality with their next projects.

I felt quite bad for the creator when I saw the controversy about the level on Twitter. No matter if you can relate to the thought process of the levels creator or not there's absolutely no point of leaving these not just critical but often immature and disrespectful comments especially considering the obvious amount of time, effort and skill behind this project. I really hope this reaction doesn't discourage or demotivate Mcres for their future projects. I personally really like the level's aesthetic and how well it works together with the song. The effects look really impressive and everything looks very well executed. I love how Mcres used already existing popular effects and mixed them together in a way that the final visual output looks really unique. An example for that would be the trippy parallax structures at 3:33 . Overall I think this level is extremely well done and doesn't deserve that backlash at all. Amazing work!
It has very original effects and although the gameplay looking at the level does not seem the most comfortable to me, it seems very interesting to see. The level in general is fantastic but I feel that there are some parts that lacked that professional touch
But overall, I LOVE THIS LEVEL❤️
3:33 is my favorite part, always thought of an effect like this but this just pulls the effect off so well

I like how simple the block designs get in the second half, it really puts the focus on the raw effects and saves my PC from blowing up
MCRES GETTING THE RECOGNITION HE DESERVES
Honestly after all the extreme demon design-oriented megacollabs and the constant flow of knot-styled modern levels in the featured/trending tab, it's refreshing to see, not only a *pure* effect level, but also an extreme demon focused on it for all it's duration, not "modern", not art, just pure effects (or at least pure enough for my liking), of course I don't know if I could enjoy to play this myself😂 but really give props to the creator for managing to keep consistent the level (decoration-wise) for a long time
I’ve known about MCres for awhile now, but I’ve never truly followed their levels. Will definitely check out more of their stuff after seeing this though 👍

really nice seeing mcres here!! i quite liked a good portion of this level, while other parts were admittedly a bit underwhelming to me. still pretty well put together. :)

the reason of the level's creation isn't resonating with me but if it is for the creator, i'm glad. that being said, this is level of the year for me so far. seriously one of the best effect extremes we have rn
This level is absolutely stunning to watch. I love how it begins as greyscale and then introduces colors midway into the level at 2:19, where the blue blocks' pulsing white glow gradually becomes brighter as you approach the drop, at which it explodes in flashing colors that complements the music. Also, I noticed how the background color in the drop matches the gamemode's portal color, which is a really nice detail! There's so much examples of the level's insane attention to detail, like that red orb music sync at 3:41 and the blue blocks shrinking and black platform morphing in the transition at 2:34.
man what people can do is crazy, and the length for something like this is absolutely nuts, i don't think a lot of people realize just how much dedication it takes to make something like this
Honestly throughout the sort of first half of the level i was pretty bored, but after the colours started getting introduced the level really started to give off a feeling of space and atmosphere that i was hoping it would. And the effects after the colour are amazing

It’s cool I guess I love some parts while others are very lacking take that with a grain of salt cuz I am a core creator. I don’t see the theme he conveyed although some parts you might need to ever think to see it, other then that doesn’t look very interesting but again I am a core creator. I don’t really care for effect levels. Although I cannot ignore the effort put in some parts.
