One of the best games ever made. I hear that Super Mario RPG is similar and also good? I have never played that one, not sure if I should emulate it and give it a shot?
This it the game that made me fall in love with gaming. I was barely 5 years old when I played this, and I couldn't even read, but the storytelling from the images, music, and gameplay alone kept me extremely invested.
I enjoyed this game and beaten it on the N64 way back in 2001, near the end of the N64's life cycle. I'm happy it's released on Nintendo Switch Online.
Thanks for saying that! I was always shocked to hear how mixed reception Super Paper Mario gets. Yeah it doesn't have the turn based fighting system and it's a bit too easy because of it, but the amazing story and sheer amount of diverse characters more than make up for it
@@marissaviolet1 yea that was a tough boss, if you do try it again my advice is to have jelly ultras and life shrooms as well as badges that can boost your defense as well as attack, one such badge is the Mega Rush badge which gives +4 attack, but you have to be in peril status (1hp) for its effect to happen, theres also a badge thats called Lucky Day which is a stronger version of the Pretty lucky badge and makes enemies attacks miss more frequently
@@marissaviolet1 Most people just bring revive foods, anything that gives a lot of HP back and just put all their points into HP and some into BP/FP throughout their playthrough. It's practically easy mode and doesn't require a lot of skill (using FP moves) or collecting all the badges. To make the game more challenging and fun, I would suggest collecting all the badges and putting points into BP/FP more than HP and rely less on items. You come up with some interesting builds, some really powerful and others where you win by the skin of your teeth.
@@botterminator thank you for the help! when I was watching this walk through I finally realized how important the badges were for the final boss fight against Bowser. I’m gonna have to get my 64 back from my sister and finally beat this game 😭💜
Thank you for posting! Ive really really been wanting to revisit this game as an adult but I can't afford the Nintendo expansion packages. Your video helps me feel like I'm getting to enjoy the game without playing it myself! Cheers ❤
I'm wondering if the star spirit Muskular might be based on Popeye, because of the name and sailor's hat, and also considering that Mario's creator, Shigeru Miyamoto, was a Popeye fan (if I can remember correctly from a video I saw)
11:15 -- I'm surprised you didn't keep talking to the guard, because if you keep pestering him, he'll eventually let you in Peach's room. Otherwise, great walkthrough!
I remember the bs you could do with goombario and his charge and multibonk. if you could keep mario alive long enough and charge a few times with goombario you could burst a boss down very fast.
I was so happy when they added Paper Mario on Switch Online. One thing that's kind of bad was the lag when I pause the game and fought Chapter 5 boss. But mostly still enjoyable.
So I noticed you had trouble getting the turtle shell back from the one fuzzy 2:12:52 all you have to do is walk slow towards it then hit it with the hammer
This game looks so much better than the other games. The world looks like its paper and cardboard. In the later games the world only has effects and transitions that look like that. The world itself is just cartoony.
There is no other paper mario like this one, they were careful with the art, and the grittiness of the graphics allowed a unique aesthetics no other has been able to achieve. I think the game should have devolved better into a final fantasy type rather than a puzzle centered experience. I find other titles to spoon-feed you too much.
Yes I agree! I wish they would have modeled all of the paper Mario series after this one specifically. The only one that holds a candle to this one is The Thousand Year Door. The rest are okay…super paper Mario had so much potential too
Hi. I played this game with a different walkthrough last year and he didn't talk to the duck robe guy to upgrade his badges. Its it really okay to upgrade yourself at 4:44:07?

Yes. That’s one of 6 past consoles you can get on Nintendo Switch online. The other 5 are the Nintendo entertainment system, Super Nintendo entertainment system, sega genesis, game boy, and game boy advance.
Say ninbanyan. I have a question to ask you since your playful of paper Mario went fantastically well. Are there any other N64 games you would love to see in the NSO Expansion Pak?
I feel so bad that you had to pay 60 bucks for a laggy and buggy emulator. Nintendo needs to at least add more games and actually spend time making this an emulator that runs good. Oh btw you can play a fan remake that is very well made. It can be downloaded on emulator on PC. Just look up Paper Mario 64 remake
Going back and playing this on a real 64, and let me tell you, the visuals on the actual console are awful lol. Emulation is definitely the way to go with N64 games.
