By the looks of it captain, this one hasnt gone down too well with viewers... i think send fx from my mixer are a thing of creative magic. Im dawless, so dont want to comment about technique, from that perspective. To me, it looks as if you are heading somewhere with these tutorial. Appreciate your work. Ps, is the captain 2 people?

It might be fun to do it that way and it might work but I suspect it's not the traditional way.
Very traditional actually. Back when you didn't have plugins, you needed hardware units and every one of these cost money. Instead of buying multiple reverb units for example, you used a single reverb unit as a send effect. This practice has advantages and disadvantages, but it's still very much valid in the digital age.
I used an analog mixer in the early 90s, and this is the basic method everyone used. The only difference is that you're using a DAW. It's still a useful method though. Say you want to record a vast, complex, effects laden masterpiece with hundreds of audio tracks, but you're computer is acting up because you're running hundreds of different plugins all using similar settings. By using the method described in this video you can massively uncomplicate things whilst freeing up massive amounts of CPU power at the same time.
