Fun fact: I've eaten at "The Diner" in Tracy, California depicted on Jason Lytle's hat. It's unusual that such a British-sounding band came from a place like Modesto, California, a dreadfully dull blue-collar town where everyone works in the food-processing industry. Most US bands with that British "indie" sound come from the elite colleges on the Eastern seaboard. I had just moved to the UK with my girlfriend when these guys were coming on the scene. I later saw them perform live a few times back home in Philadelphia. They were absolutely smashing.
i have all manner of Grandaddy media- this is my fave, i have 3x various 45s of this very track in mint unopened sleeves. I first heard them about 10 years ago- the sophtware slump album. Never heard anything so utterly melodically addictive..thoroughly inspiring genius. In some ways not even Floyd or Radiohead come close to their inventive simplicity; by that i mean where it touches one's soul, seemingly effortlessly. Unlauded and below radar and i bet they like it that way, fantastic upload, cheers...over and oot.
do you know nothing about Granddady? he's not nervous he's a reluctant hero. The whole band is. They just gotta get outta here, this messed up unnatural world, that's why they always have animals, flowers, leaves all manner of natural stuff in their videos. They're just normal cynical, nature loving young men haha
