Thanks for the tips. My jaw dropped, literally, when you showed the shortcut, pressing "shift" while deleting an anchor point to retain the original shape. I've been designing for 30 years, and now teach a high school GD program. I'm looking forward to integrating your videos into my curriculum. Keep up the good work.

This was excellent! I’m also a small youtuber and just purchased the iPad Pro specifically for vector drawing. But I’m a beginner, so this was very useful. I hope they will have this feature in the illustrator for iPad launch. I’m using VECTORNATOR for now and tracing sketches by carefully placing anchor points around.

I found it when I clicked on the three dots below where "all tools" are located. But it doesn't show up on the tool bar even when I right click. Anyway, at least I found. 😁
You have to drag it up to the tool bar to be able to view. Problem solved! Ok, I will leave you alone now.😂

yes shift button is working while deleting the anchor point but it still changes the shape little bit. I don't want any changes in curves while deleting the anchor point. is there any solution?
Gotcha. Try going to Object/Path/Simplify…
Play with the slider until you’re happy with the results.
Hello Michael, it happens that I don have the Add nor Delete Anchor Point on the Menu, only "Pen Tool" and "Anchor Point Tool". Do you think there is something wrong with my program? i have the latest version I think, I just subscribed 2 months ago. Thank you for the Tutorial, it's fantastic.
Thank you for your kind words! I’m surprised that you would be missing those tools. Have you tried clicking and holding on the pen tool?
There are 3 small dots beneath the toolbar that has the rest of the missing tools. Click on it to see them and drag it into your toolbar.
I am not sure what the problem is for me on this. The shift while deleting doesn't work for me. I am on the latest version of Illustrator (2020). When I hold shift it just deletes a section in the line. Any thoughts on how to fix this. I even uninstalled and reinstalled. Please help.

Hello there. I just tried it with the latest version of Illustrator with no issues. I remember first using this technique and accidentally trying to do it with the pen tool selected, instead of the delete anchor point tool. Could this be what's happening?

I'm on MAC Big Sur 11.1 All of a sudden i'm now getting double and triple anchor points in any given line i draw? and when i go to reshape, then another truck load of anchor points are added? I must have hit a setting i'm unaware of? Dying here......Heeeelp

@@smalltowncreative I fixed it. I had to uninstall 'Illustrator 2021' reinstall 2020 Illustrator. How do i know thats' what fixed it? The next day i opened a drawing made with 2021 Illustrator days earlier, it auto opened in 21, i didn't even notice which version it was until the triple anchor points reappeared. Then noticed the version it opened in.? Weird i know, but then i made sure 21 had been trashed, obviously it hadn't. Thanks for getting back to me. Xxx

How can I keep going with a shape and not lose my 'mother' anchorpoint? I can't keep going, because it starts making a new shape, I want the shape to be tied to the original anchorpoints, but it creates a brand new one. + pluss does not do this for me.

Yo can make shape thicker by add a stroke on it and increasing the stroke to yo liking then go to stroke path and pathfinder to merge the shape. easy

I think you’re asking how to change point positions without adjusting the handles? I’m sure that in most cases you’re going to have to still make adjustments if you relocate a point. Thanks for the comment!

All I was looking for is how to delete an anchor point... Maybe he gets to it at some point, but I am 1/3rd into the video and he still hasn't got to the point
I got you! Choose White Arrow Tool/ Click nn anchor point/ hit delete on keyboard.
word of advice, when you have 4k subs, don't have ads. We do not want to watch them and your channel won't grow. Wait till you are a bigger channel

Using those shortcuts does take some getting used to. Think of it like a new tool to assist your workflow.

I have to say Adobe is so F up keep changing shit for unnecessary people. It's a powerful tool for PROS, not someone dont know how to use computer drawing art
