this fits flowey, this is like, the perfect song for this, I'm not saying its the best song I've ever heard, or that its insanely good, I'm just saying this is the best thing that could happen with your best nightmare, this feels like what would actually play if you came into a battle with him. and I love it, good job

I get its to add eeriness and just nightmare fuel effects but I don't people would want to listen to just... cryptic noises for too long. THIS IS ACTUALLY SO GOOD NGL cus this sounds like something from hard mode. Like the loudness and alarms and stuff makes the player hard to concentrate and is extremely unsettling. Aka making it harder!
Everytime the song switches from calm, peaceful soul music into the LOUDEST MOST ABOMINAL MUSIC it just suprises me everytime. Amazing work you deserve over 1k subs*
No one's done it yet, so allow me to be the first to gush. Making Your Best Nightmare horror isnt exactly easy, as the song lends itself more to loud shock that fades after the first round with the main form. However, this found away. The intro basically tells you that's what you're in for with this blaring scream like sounds playing over the original track along with the growls of the monster before you. It's the perfect opening to simply say "This is not the attempted hell broken by moments of hope and peace ending with turning the tables on your oppressor like the og. It's a living hell all the way through." By making the main sections even more loud and overwhelming, you really get the hellish torture that the fight is literally going for. The alarm itself is probably the best simple example of this, sounding off in short sudden bursts. In the original, the alarm is actual quieter and calmer than the rest which gives the feeling of cooldown and transition into something less horrible. Not here. This alarm is just as intense as the rest of it, which feels like it's warning you of a change, but not one you'll like. There will be no peace this time. That leads into the actual soul phases, which take the light distortions of Your Best Friend from the original and straight up rip them to shreds, distorting it so much the theme isnt recognized. The soul phases are my favorite part of this reimagination, as the heavy distortion conveys the state of these children's souls, now puppets on strings that attack you at the whims of their Puppeteer. In of itself, its chilling, but all the different versions with different horror styles, all quiet except kinda the yellow soul, but I shouldn't have to repeat that its all so terrifying and I love it. My favorite of the soul segments is Green, as the kitchen ambience just adds a sort of life that gives the impression of consciousness, like the kids know what's happening but are powerless to stop themselves. But I'll go through them all anyways, as the distortions of the traits themselves is the next interesting thing I could discuss. Patience is fast paced which distorts the very idea of patience as notes fly out one after another in a quick frenzy. Bravery being mostly piano gives it a meek feeling, distorting the idea of Bravery just as well. Integrity has this broken harmony of contradicting instruments and notes, all at war with each other, showing this clear absence of a sense of self, of integrity. Perseverance is the shortest that doesn’t even go twice like every other soul. The whole thing seems to just go through the motions of the usual track, doing the bare minimum it needs to, not even Persevering to the end. Kindness doesn’t even really get its somg, only this kitchen ambience and horribly distorted music that sounds almost reversed. It's cold and unforgiving, which is about as musically opposite as you can get to Kindness. Its good stuff. Lastly, Justice... strangely... sounds the least distorted. Instead, it sounds odly western and... about how one would expect Justice to sound, guitar and all. It's still good, but, unless I'm missing something, which I might be, it doesn't quite work as well as the rest. However, despite that, every soul phase is delightfully horrific and adding a certain creepiness to the already overwhelming natire of the song. In short, you took Your Best Nightmare and turned it into the unending hell Flowey invisioned it to be, and succeeded in every way possible. It is one HELL of an anniversary treat!
As someone who closely watched this track's development, I can safely say that you nailed it on the head. Although I'd like to also point out an extra tidbit! Some of the popping in the intro is the modified ultrasonic frequencies a stressed plant makes
@officialrhythmicthoughts I... did not know that, nor that plants did that. Given it's in the intro, I'd guess it implies the horrific transformation from Flowey to Omega Flowey, taking from the transformation animation(if you know, you know) and just making everything feel more wrong. If the transformation is so horrific the person transforming is in pain, it's a good indicator that nothing about it is natural... which fits in with the rest quite nicely

I genuinely wonder why the soul sections sound the way they do. Patience is similar to its game version, bravery is quieter, integrity is dissonant, perseverance takes longer to play the main beat, kindness doesn't even have a melody to begin with and is just ambience, and justice is like patience in that it's similar to the game version Is there a reason for this? My theory is that it's like axetale, in where the souls are degraded by the fact that flowey lacks a LOT of the traits he's using the powers of - flowey is an impulsive coward (hence why patience is similar and bravery is quieter) who lost his integrity long ago but still perseveres to try and have fun (integrity is discordant, but perseverance's main theme persists through everything), who lacks kindness and is only in it for himself (kindness doesn't sound like anything at all, possibly the soul temporarily dying due to flowey lacking the trait to use it? and justice can easily be twisted into vengeance, which is why it still has its melody) Idk I'm just throwing stuff at the wall to see what sticks, but listening to the kindness section again really made me think, because it's the part of the song that REALLY deviates from the normal your best nightmare remixes because it doesn't even keep the your best friend leitmotif and is instead ambience Really hoping op gives us an explanation for this, I'm interested to see the thought process behind each soul section!
