Oh wow I didn't know about the chase sapphire reserve card fee being waived. I have the preferred card but I'm about to call them to get the reserve card because that one is way better! Thanks for all the tips! By the way, another amazing military tip is being able to use the VA home loan!
Yes, you should ask them about it too! Such a great card. And that’s right! You bought a house, right? That is awesome. I hope to do so in the future as well :)
@@harrrMONICA I just got off the phone with chase and switched my card. I was also able to get the $75 authorized user fee waived which was exciting! Yes my husband and I just bought a condo in LA! It made sense to buy when our rent was the same as our mortgage payments every month. I used Veterans United Home Loans as my lender and had a great experience. A different Navy doctor who I randomly met recommended them to me.
@@ErikaCorrea yessss that’s awesome 🙌🏻🙌🏻 you’re going to love the reserve even more! Nice. I’ll definitely keep that in mind for a future home purchase (whenever that will be... haha) Thanks!
A current HPSP OMSII, do you know if the insurance stuff applies even in reserves or only when we are active duty? Thank you so much for your videos! They have been so informative and so helpful throughout this journey
I believe many benefits can be transcribed to the reserve component as well. Here is a website I found that lays out the key benefits: www.mynavyhr.navy.mil/Career-Management/Transition/Reserve-Affiliation-Benefits/#:~:text=Navy%20Reserve%20service%20members%20are,(MWR)%20programs%20and%20facilities.
I am a dental student abroad. Im researching about dental schools over there, programs, etc. It sucks that i am a us citizen and i am studying somewhere else, but im literrraly brokeeee
It is unfortunate how expensive tuition is here in the States, especially as an out-of-state student. However, there are other opportunities outside the Navy that can be different avenues of loan repayment. Some off the top of my head would be the Indian Health Service (IHS) and sometimes states will offer loan forgiveness for a commitment to work in rural areas as well. Best of luck on your dental journey!
Were you able to get the Chase Sapphire Reserve card while in school? I applied but because my sole source of income is my stipend payments, my income wasn't enough to qualify. Is there a way around this that you know of?
I did not apply for it until I graduated and started working. Since it can affect your credit score if you apply and get denied, I would consider building up your credit continuously until it's the right time. If source of income was the main reason, it might be difficult until it does increase (Since the stipend doesn't change during dental school).
I believe many components would still apply to reservists. Here's a website I found that lays out some of the main ones: www.mynavyhr.navy.mil/Career-Management/Transition/Reserve-Affiliation-Benefits/#:~:text=Navy%20Reserve%20service%20members%20are,(MWR)%20programs%20and%20facilities.
Yes you can! There are rules that apply though (Look at tattoo section): www.mynavyhr.navy.mil/References/US-Navy-Uniforms/Uniform-Regulations/Chapter-2/2201-Personal-Appearance/
Hi I have a question Will you need to be an officer to apply for the HPSP? Also how can a prospective e-3(I have a lowly associates) become an officer?
Hello! No, you do not need to be an officer to apply to HPSP. I was a civilian pre-dental student before I applied to the program. There are many several routes, but I've also heard of the Sailor-to-admiral (STA-21) program as well. Try looking into that and see if any of those careers interest you too!
