    Good to replace springs in pairs and have a look at the rear, as this car has sat at an angle for some time. Be careful under there!

    I love how the Brits work in cold, damp sheds and barns that have dirt floors..

    Always replace mechanical parts in pairs young ane. You'll find it's opposite will fail not long after replacing the new part on one side.

    I was very shocked when I had to buy a battery for my trackter this last month. I nursed the original one the last two years it actually lasted 9 years. The new one also an AGM type cost me $206.00 usd with a new positive cable that was 15 inches. I priced a new battery about 3 years ago when I first had issues with the battery and it was about$120.00 usd.

      I had to replace a battery in a BMW X1, not joking but quoted by BMW dealer Can $750.00!!! Actually cost $620.21!!!
      Then there's the brakes on a car, done only a bit over 100,000km, that at an "independent garage" cost Can$2200.00!!!
      And why as a mechanic I think BMW's are shite.
      Equally why own a BMW when you can have a HSV or FG XR 6 turbo???😂😂😂

    As for battery replacement, do you not have to tell the car its been replaced. Usually a sequence to reset the charging rates. Good content .keep it up.

    Great video Issac. Respect for doing your own work, I also like to roll around under my car fixing stuff. personally I stack heavy duty wooden blocks up, right behind the jack point, then lower the car onto the blocks, but also leave the jack in place still supporting some, but not all of the weight, it needs to be solid hard wood though. Ive never bothered with jack stands. You can never be too careful though, Ive ended up in a jam twice having cars fall off of those boot jacks. all it takes is a slight slope.
    It would be good to see some snippets of the gear box job if you end up doing that.

    Well explained of what went wrong Issac. Hope it's back on the road soon. As for the electrics, don't be scared. If it's a negative ground vehicle as it looks like it is. Put the positive lead on first and then the negative, there will less or no sparks. If it's positive earth like some of the old english cars were, then do the opersite. I belive that most are negative earth nowdays.

    Your not going to over charge the battery as it thinks it's a 90Ah. (320d 09) Swopped my battery out had a 95Ah in put same back in and just reg'd it in ISTA, got wrong cable to change/code Ah. Remove - 1st then +. Reverse to fit.

    Don’t say you’re going to”get rid of it”, say you’re going to “move it on” !
    Yes a boost leak will mess things up and kick out loads of smoke….

    • @BarumExtra
      @BarumExtra  Місяць тому +1

      Trust me I definitely am dreading ‘moving it on’! I love this car was my first relatively “quick” car. Will be sad to see it go but needs must!
      Will do some boost leak diagnosis shortly and replace some pipes hopefully can get that sorted easily 👌🏼

    You need to plug in and tell the car it has a different battery, although as I typed it you said it. also say Hi to Stuart at AR for me I used to do his MOTs at Steve's

    Always best to put the live lead on first i have seen people put the live on first and caused a spike to the ecu midern car electrics are very fragile maybe invest in a bigger jack sealey do some good ones and not mega money

    • @BarumExtra
      @BarumExtra  Місяць тому

      Definitely will invest in bigger jack, that Halfords one gives me anxiety 😂

      @anglefire1965 Місяць тому

      Halfords ones are fine tbh as long as you don’t overload them. But there are better ones out there.
      I actually made some about 40years ago at college. Tested on a press to 7tonnes. I still use them.
