Watching this I can feel the desert drinking in that wonderful rain! I know how rare this event is for you folks out there in the desert.... so happy its coming your way for a change.
Good stuff! You might want to look at a couple of books on rainwater harvesting by Brad Lancaster available from him and Amazon. I teach his tecniques here in Mexico.
It was cheaper than a battery of 26 - 2,500 gallon tanks (at 1,400$ each)and all the plumbing to hook it all together . We can fill this 65,000 gallon pioneer tank with the annual rainfall of 8” due to the size of our roofs. It’s an amazing setup. Water is not an issue here at Crazy Rock. I will do a follow up video on our water treatment facility etc... soon.
Slickster Slickster we live in the Chihuahuan desert. We can have bamboo in gray water areas, but where mountain pour offs are, they wouldn’t get enough consistent water to grow. We’ve done some other things to impound water. We do collect 65 thousand gallons of water per year from roofs . Thanks for spending time watching. Have a great weekend!
Those waterfalls are so lovely. For only a short time.
Looking forward to seeing pictures of the wildflowers that I imagine will soon follow.
John Dinyari we had a super bloom after that.

Markus Manstroma Thanks! We are loving it! It’s nearly 2 in the morning and i can still hear the water falling from the mountains from our porch.

As long as we have the average rainfall... we harvest 65000 gallons a year. We are in a bit of a drought this year. That’s 2o20 for ya!

Dixie Rose Yes, it is! We are catching as much as we can!
