I appreciate his purity ... he's a sonic scientist. But to my ears his best work is the early, wAy more melodic Spectrum material. Those songs are at least as good as the early and great Spiritualized songs!
i saw e.a.r. in ninety-six in a gothic cathedral in pittsburgh. the promoter promised an absurd guarantee (like four grand or something) so kember and co. were pissed because about thirty-five heads showed up. not pretty. threatened no show but seeing our puppy dog eyes dying for a fix they laid like fifty minutes on us. just when i started peaking they quit and would not do an encore or anything. my people were pissed. but i recall the most sublime of sounds and sonic boom hisself only played two mic'd brass cymbals with his big box o' pedals. but those cats (all three of them) raised a miles davis-grade sound in about fifteen. that's forty minutes of bliss. and i got steadily higher for the next three or four hours afterward and smiling all the while. mmm fungus. not to be fucked with these magicians. At 14:30 mins he is playing Scott Bartlett's OFF ON short film which I would recommend. I saw Sonic Boom in Orlando Florida for two shows one of which he used Speak n' Spells... Both shows were wonderful.
@GG GG I did, but then again I have a critical ear and I've been making electronic music for 35 years so i hear a lot of similar sounds. Only so many sounds in the synth world? I wouldn't call infinite 'only so many'.
Thanks for making/posting this...Sonic Boom is a secret legend.
Go all the way Pete warp factor 4
Never sold out.
What does that even mean anymore in these times 😂

Don Koovey Isn't this the guy who went to art college to form a band?
huh? not sure what you're asking. i'm not an expert on Pete's story but i'm pretty sure him and Jason met at an art school.
Sound quality to them.
Op-1 selling more after that video!)

All I hear is Aphex Twin, but that's a good thing :)
@GG GG No, Unlikely. It's more like they fell on similar sounds with completely different synths
