I still believe that this is the best "bang for your buck" quad out there. Especially for the beginner pilot.
What I didn't like, is that you stated that you were going to do some FPV with your Fatsharks? We didn't get to see that, or the video from the goggles?
Also, you stated you were going to do some "follow me mode" while on your skateboard and you didn't get to that either...? Hmm...
    Maybe a "video #2" ???
other than that, nice video showing what the 501s is all about.
Still liking mine, even though I've moved up to some freestyle and racing style quads since my 501s purchase. Its all fun :)

Outstanding review of the Hubsan X4 H501S quad! I was wondering if the Hubsan H109S X4 Pro Premium transmitter would
work with this drone? I know there are several favorable reviews of the H109S and the price is getting up where the DJI
Phantom Pro is. The Telemetry data is really nice to have! Thanks for your review.

Great review. I have this model in black. It's very docile in GPS mode and great for beginners. I've only been able to fly it once since I got it and the first feature I wanted to test was return to home which worked a brought the drone back to within 1.5 meters from where it took off. It would be nice to be able to program a RTH altitude. My understand is the drone will return at the altitude it is at when the RTH feature is activated but if you're below 10 meters it will climb to 10 meters and then return which I think is too low.

I've been thinking about getting this drone. I've seen quite a few good reviews on it. But I also came across about 4 reviews where people said their drones flew off out of control and they could not get any support from Hubsan. I like their line of drones but I don't want my money to just take off and fly away either.

I purchased a Syma X5c-1 toy quad about a year ago so that I could learn how to fly. Now I was thinking if going a step up. Would this be a good choice (in your opinion)?

Scott, I would highly recommend the HUSBAN HS501S Advanced version. The new controller is amazing and this drone has all the coolest features like GPS Hold, Return to home, and follow me. You will love this one as a next step up. Here is a buy link for the one I am talking about. www.gearbest.com/rc-quadcopters/pp_424346.html?wid=21&lkid=10101054

hello Drone Camps RC. Who is more noisy ? the mjx bugs 3 or
hubsan H501S ? The H501S in manual mode have same speed with bugs 3? Today i
sold my mjx bugs 3 and Thinking of buying the h501s. Is good
choice for upgrade? What interests me is not too quietly to be about the
same noise as the bugs 3

Andrew. I would. I brought it out to the coast today actually. Did some filming with it this morning. I will post the video today if I can edit it for you guys. --- Ps. As long as you don't have high expectations for the video its a really inconspicuous drone to fly on the beach. Looks like a seagull a 100ft away. People walking by didnt notice it. I like it. - JD

I was thinking of adding a drone to some of my corporate photography. I usually take video interviews and testimonials, but many times it is good to take the company's logo on the building. It occurred to me to think about going with an aerial video shot of the building. Can this drone do a full HD 1080p and be stable enough to handle something like that?

Yes, it's normal, but I think you have figured out now, it go 10 meters if you are below that, now with some unofficial RHE software you can make it go to 25 or 30 meters when you hit RTH, I think is a good idea

Then I use a UBEC which drops the voltage down to 6v and solder the 2 output wires onto the motherboard in the transmitter. One charge-up lasts for weeks. If you forget to charge the battery and it goes flat during flight, the H105s just returns to home.
