- The 2020 McLaren GT is now here and with it some BIG change. This GT is powered by the same 4.0L twin-turbo V8 that has been tuned for better daily driving by producing 612 HP & mated to a 7-speed DCT gearbox. Since this is currently the longest McLaren that is produced, it has the MOST luggage space of any McLaren before it. On the inside luxury and style has been taken to a new level. So if you re-tune that motor, you basically have a much cheaper, more refined 720S.
or a more expensive 570s
But it's an ugly version of all McLarens. The car isn't super ugly but it's ugly for a supercar. The 570 looks better. So does the 720..

Raiti.. Always ahead of the game. I like the GT. Its a different look from McLaren
Great overview of the car. I usually think of GT cars as being front-engine but McLaren seems focused on making GT cars that are daily drivable without a lot of compromises on handling.
Mclaren killing it.... competitive with Aston Martin . But it might be faster than db11 but not sure about the sound .

Like others have said, you are stepping up your game with this Mclaren. You are obsessed with cars and it shows. Very interesting car. It’s like an Italian supercar wearing an Aston Martin suit. That paint color is very unique. It appears slightly moss green at times and color shifting at other angles. The interior leather reminds me of the red Napa leather available in the Kia Stinger GT2.
Noticed the redline is at 4K... maybe it changes after the break in period? Or after the oil is up to temp?

the new r8 does something similar, limiting the RPM’s so you can’t rev the shit out of the car. I don’t know the purpose of it

Your not the only one, it seems to me that McClaren and Ferrari are consistently turning new cars out. Never really ever see them camouflaged either.

I'm a large guy (read: fat) and tall (about 6' 3"). I daily drive my 12C without too much difficulty getting in and out. I've had no issues with the interior space in the 720s, but the 600LT was cramped.
I've tried the GT and found ingress and egress very difficult and the interior quite cramped. Which is really disappointing in a GT car.
However, I must concede that part of the reason is that the GT version I tried was a LHD version (like the one shown here) whereas the other cars (like is the norm in my country Singapore) were RHD.
So muscle memory and coordination could've had to do something with it (my bulk makes things difficult to begin with, of course). I have to wait till the RHD version is homologated here and give it another shot.
But for now, the 720s is the better option, as I don't usually have much to carry around (I use other cars for that).

The "BMW Supra" is good for a BMW haha. I wonder when Toyota will make their own "Japanese" sporty car in the 40-60k price range. ( for those who don't get it I'm being sarcastic) yeah the old supra is still better.

No you need to learn the difference between two cars that have the same father vs being based on the same car. The only thing that the Porsche has in common with a Beetle is that both came from the mind of a man named Porsche!
The Beetle was originally called a Porsche meaning its is derived from a Porsche not the other was around.
The modern 911 was based on the Porsche 356 not a Beetle.
It seem that it’s you who does not understand the term derived.
Remember this lesson in epistemology.

This is the best looking McLaren I've seen in decades. Lovely looking car.no wild lines no crazy stuff.. just looking mean and practical. Great performance and good interior finish too this is a bomb.. but new Corvette price tops them all.. look out ferararri McLaren is on your tail end .

This is a brilliant design. The timing is also great...McLaren, especially now, carries considerable brand prestige and it's a great time for them to offer this type of product (arguably this prestige is essential for any very high-end grand tourer). I think they are going to attract a ton of buyers who probably would not have otherwise considered one of their cars.

The GT looks damn good, and those storage spaces look practical too! I want to see how the C8 compares in storage when it comes out. The Corvette have always had a practical amount of storage since the C5, maybe even the previous generations had that practicality. The C8's front and rear trunks look really usable though probably not as accommodating as the GT's long storage area above the engine.
Oh man, that is so choice! Haven’t liked the other Mclaren designs lately, but I will have this.

Great review as always Joe. I’m going to give it a zonk also. The tablet layout I like just hate the huge black boarders around the screen, need more screen Real estate. One more thing I wish they did, make the rear backup camera retractable. Especially since the exhaust pipes stick out and the car is so close to the ground. The camera will stay cleaner. Other then that I’ll take it. I’m just $200,000.00 short or I’ll buy it right now 😂.

All of the gloss black areas can be in optional carbon. Also, with MSO (McLaren Special Operations), you can essentially do any bespoke modifications you want, within reason of course.
