- China revealed images of its most advanced aircraft carrier named Fujian, Chinese state media reported on January 2. The aircraft carrier features next-generation launch tracks, capable of catapulting a wider range of aircraft from the deck. The Fujian was reportedly seen being towed by a smaller vessel with all of the three tracks of its electro-magnetic catapult system visible on its deck. Watch the video to know more about Fujian.

Very impressive ship, but China is still a long way from fielding a carrier force comparable to that of the US Navy. China has 3 aircraft carriers, while the US has 11. Of these 3, only 1 (this one) is a modern CATOBAR carrier. The other two do not use catapults to launch their aircraft, but rely on so-called "ski-jumps", which not only gives them an awkward appearance, but limit the amount of weapons and fuel that the planes can carry. The other two (Shandong and Liaoning) are basically modernized versions of the ancient Russian carrier "Admiral Kuznetsov", which means that their combat capabilities are rather limited. And, as others have pointed out, this is not the first carrier to use electromagnetic catapults. The USS Gerald Ford, currently in service, was the first carrier to use this type of launch system. In any case, this ship is historically significant in the sense that it can be considered China's first true modern aircraft carrier.

The PLA's weapons are all junk. The type 03 aircraft carrier hasn't launched a single plane. It is not like the Ford carrier. It's a different design based on a PhD thesis. Advanced military equipment undeniably provides advantages, but prevailing in a battle or war requires extensive military experience in order to conceive advance battlefield strategies, a factor the United States has a lot.

No one has modern battlefield experience in terms of navy. WW2 experience means nothing in this day and age of 2500km+ carrier killer/destroyer killer missiles. Or stealth jets that will all be using BVR missiles.
Experience didn't mean anything for UK when it fought USA, or Japan when it fought USA. Production, economy, and quantity matters. Same as Russia vs Nazi Germany. Quantity has a quality of its own. After that, unity is most important. Maybe the most important. And you don't get more unified than China, or a country more proud of it's culture with over 5000 years continuous history.
