I have met people in real life who are super trusting of others and only see the “good” in bad situations and have a don’t care attitude to bad situations, that if they don’t outright pretend not to notice. So often on true crime stories, people say that they must have known who it was because there was no forced entry. The thing is, many people open the door not knowing who's on the other side. People actually believe that if someone is killed and there's no forced entry, it must be someone they know.
Also, a LOT of people leave their doors and windows unlocked! That’s how a lot of crimes happen, intensify, and remain unsolved because police end up investigating for someone the person knew, assuming everyone has the sense to lock their doors and windows. Also, I believe that someone criminals get a lesser charge because they don’t break in to enter.
Toxic optimism is a real societal disease. People like to wear rose colored glasses zealously. Also alot of people have twisted beliefs that if you don’t automatically assume the best of others you are somehow wrong.

I know. It’s not always the case. I saw a detective show where a lady was unlocking her door and had groceries in her hand. A person came out from the bushes and forced her inside. She didn’t open the door to him, he forced his way in.
Happened to me twice...at 2am a lady and a baby came to my door to ask if she could HAVE my dog house...i said no and shut the door...she stole it anyway!!! Other time someone was banging on door and windows and yelling...my back yard, wooden fence and all was ON FIRE!!!
I remember being home alone in grade school when the Scream movies first came out. The phone rang and I answered it. It was the creepiest short convo I’ve ever had and I’m 33 now and still remember it. It was so scary I can picture the daylight outside, what I was looking at during the call and other random details, probably cause the fear response and “survival” chemicals were being released. Still don’t know who the caller was.

Got asked what my favorite horror movie was, do I like being home alone at such a young age, knew what I was wearing, where I was in the house, etc. Keep in mind I was like 8-9? I mean for all I know it could have been someone I know, and I know that. But nobody has ever told me who it was. And it was around 10-12pm on a school day either 1997-1998 🤷🏽♂️ just didn’t/don’t like the feeling of someone seeing me and I can’t see them sort of thing. Needless to say I shut all blinds and curtains after and called my mom. Lol
Some people, even at 16 years of age, are not mature enough to be left alone. The kid in story 2 is a prime example of modern parenting. They treat their kids like babies, then when the kid is faced with a hairy situation, he doesn't have the first idea what to do. If someone's knocking on your back door at midnight, you don't keep playing your video game. Then he laid in bed & allowed his family to be robbed. Should've called the law when he saw that someone was jacking around at the neighbor's house. Astounding.
Story 2: I can’t wrap my head around why he didn’t call the cops the second he saw the guy creeping around the neighbors yard. Wtf Also. The cops told the parents someone broke in and they stay out for the rest of the week anyway?? Wow.
I experienced something like these stories. When I stay at home lonely, I had to faced with a terrible experience. So thank you for your stories, but now I'm calm down to beat all.
Never act like you’re not home! Criminals are typically looking for an empty house. Make noise, bang pots and pans, yell into the other room “honey get the door”, create the sense there’s more than 1 person home.
2nd story: kid should've turned on all the lights and made it look like someone WAS home. 3rd story: dude should've told the guy, he's calling the cops or something, but actually make the call.

AHHH- Story 3 scared me too much but god damn the dude was an idio. One for answering the door in the first place AND for admitting that he was said person the guy was looking for!! If someone is looking for you and you dont know who the person is, you better pray they don't know what you look like and that they were just going from house to house cause then you can easily get out of that situation by saying "sorry, i dont know so-so" . When i heard the "i saw the guy running across the hallway to get out." that shook me. Scariest part in my opinion

I recently started watching these type of videos ever since my girlfriend's daughter got me into them. This is definitely my favorite channel for this and I look forward to each video.
Story number one moral of the story is A criminal can be anybody and a person's looks can be very deceiving . That man could have lived there previously or anything . That's another reason you have to be careful who you invite into.your house because they could have told that man what he had in his house .!
I feel sad for the first guy whose left family left him behind in their former fanily house. And quite a chilling story he told, guy has a good story to tell.

Yep that was my first thought. Written by someone with no experience with guns and assumes a gunshot is like a bomb going off near you in a war movie. Sure if the gun is real close to you it'll make your ears ring, but from downstairs and outside? And it was just a handgun, not some crazy high powered rifle? I also like how the guy was there to kill him, gets the jump on him and instead of taking the extra .1 seconds it takes to fire his gun just runs away conveniently right before the police arrive.

I never understand why American police take forever to get anywhere. It’s no wonder that so many tragic incident happen every single day with severe consequences, because the police took too long.
A lot of times in these stories, the person is armed but doesn’t want to/is too afraid to shoot! It’s wild. A lot of people are just as afraid to use it as they are of the one they’d use it against. I’m glad to live in a country where they’re illegal, but if I went home to the States, I’d have to carry. I’m a peaceful person who minds their own business, so my resentment towards home invaders, stalkers, and the like is off the charts to where I’d shoot. I’ve heard a few stories where the person did shoot, and they were justified to do so.
@badwolfhunter, The man probably suspected some raggedy homeless man was hiding in the basement, (like what can happen at times) So he was surprised when he had seen that it was someone who looked entirely different. This isn't about "men vs women".
For the 3rd story. I would have never open the door in the first place.. That man probably knew his name because alot of people put there name by the door bell, we don't.
buy a safe and put in some fake gold jewelry. Hide the valuable stuff in the kitchen pantry. The dumb thieves will spend hours opening the safe and go to the main bedroom looking for valuables, you could also have a box with fake gold there. If somebody breaks into your house you will be laughing for years, BTY, they may never come back.

buy a safe and put in some fake gold jewelry. Hide the valuable stuff in the kitchen pantry. The dumb thieves will spend hours opening the safe and go to the main bedroom looking for valuables, you could also have a box with fake gold there. If somebody breaks into your house you will be laughing for years, BTY, they may never come back.
