Thanks Bob. After 40 years of running the road i can tell you first hand that there's not a more lonely place in the world than the cab of a truck on Christmas. Truck stops are a beacon in the night that gives some relief.
Thanks for this story ... I just watched and what a surprise I got ... My brother (now deceased) was shown in this video - he was a trucker and had many a late night on the roads, it was a nice memory to see!
From a person who has spent Christmas on carriers and in fighting positions on multiple occasions, I appreciate the simple sacrifice that those who wish to take care of others during this special evening. It truly puts the Holy in the Holiest of nights. Thank you.
That was one of my favorite stops through the years. Too bad it’s not around anymore. The new place doesn’t hold a candle to the original. Thanks for the memories.
You are correct sir. I used to work there. I did everything there and I did Tara's job at night when she was no longer there. Her mother was the owner. She was a great person and boss. My Mom worked there for years as well. My ex used to wait tables. I cleaned that place top to bottom when I worked the night shift. Boss was so happy. I miss it. The new one is not and never will be the same.
God Bless all those Souls on the road, away from their families and trying to make a Buck. And God Bless the Waitresses and Cooks who care enough to be there on a night like that, when they need a refill and warm meal.
Watched from my home in Japan Christmas day, we’re one day ahead. Thank you for this story and thank you to all the people in your video for their hard work.
That was excellent and sums up the story of Christmas better than I have seen, or heard, in my 62 years. Thank you and Merry Christmas, y'all. Peace and good tidings. daniel
Merry Christmas Bob, Kelli, and crew! Gonna miss y'all, but thank you so much for all the years and stories you have brought us! I grew up watching Charles Kuralt. And was so pleased to find your channel, and that someone was carrying on the tradition of real stories of real people. Take care and God bless always!🥰
God bless the boys and girls out on the highway hauling the goods that keep our country running. The same to the folks working at the truck stops and roadside diners. God bless each and everyone of you and stay safe.
I love this episode. Travelers are trying to get home for Christmas, and they see the lights of this truck stop. So classic. I used to work the gravyard shift. I know how it is working on the holidays to keep food on the table and cover the bills. Thank God for all-night beacons, such as this. Merry Christmas, TCR!!
Heartwarming !! Thank you For Keeping Your Doors Open for all the tired & weary travelers , for your Sacrifice! Have a Blessed & Merry Christmas Ya'll!! 🙏❤💕🎄🎆
I stopped in there in 2012 at 930pm right next to the gas pumps out front in my cabover Pete with my reefer on and went inside I couldn't have been treated any better I had breakfast even though it was 930 at night played the jukebox I could have stayed there for hrs they never said anything about me parking out front I didn't know there was parking in the back it was dark and I was tired I will never forget this place it was there when I needed a place to stop and rest and eat I hope to make it back there someday. Merry Christmas Bob! I grew up watching you tell stories about the great people of Texas when it was 4 Country Reporter. These always remind me of home. Thanks Bob.
She doesn't say anything but I have worked there on the night shift myself and I bet she was doing it all. Serving, cooking and dishes. There might have been a cashier. She is her Mom's daughter. Mom was the owner and the boss. Very good and respected Texans.
It is still there. It was bought by foreigners. They tore it down and rebuilt it. Hardly recognizable but modern. They have a Tandori kitchen and a Sonic now if you go in the daytime. I don't think the restaurant is open 24/7 any more. You can get some overpriced merchandise in the convenience store and sleep in your car or the motel down the street.
This was one of my favs. Gone now. It was taken over by new owners and they got rid of the cafe. They have some kind of Indian cuisine fast food crap. Ruined it.
It’s a shame that that Truck Stop is no longer there. Watching the story you could just feel the warmth in the room and the warmth of the conversation. People seemed friendlier then. The young lady in this memory was a gem! Not only working on Christmas but with a smile and a kind word for the lonely travelers.

Just know that Americans appreciate all of our truckers !!
Merry Christmas 🙏👍🇺🇸🇺🇸
@@joebass517 Yes we do!
Yep.....try it on the Kaziar between Seattle and anchorage where there is no truck stops....been there and done that and don’t miss it

I was just about to ask if it was still around. :(

The restaurant at Segovia has excellent food always served with a smile!😁
Thanks Bob after 40 years of that awesome 👏
Thanks. Bob You took me back to the 1980s. I used to stop at that truck stop for coffee and a meal. 😊

I'd like to thank all the truckers working who bring us what we need, thank you and God Bless.

Great job on this report. Thank you.
Home is nothing more than a distant memory fading in time, a place many of us can never go back too.
It seems like only in the South where waitresses still have a friendly chat with their customers. Merry Christmas everyone.
Merry Christmas Bob and Kelli 🙏
Always loved spending the night there
Merry Christmas y'all. Thank you for all the great content about the Great State of Texas in 2023. Looking forward to seeing what's new in 2024.
Keep that diesel truckin and we’ll keep the Trans AM runnin
Man I really miss that stop
Been there several times. Good food, good service and nice folks!
May God Almighty richly bless that crew and restaurant. Bring them joy and happiness, Lord.
I know that truck stop. I spent many nights there.
As a truck driver I haven't been anywhere but my cab on Christmas eve for 5 years.

I use to stop there when I drove in the mid 70s
I wish I could go back to 1997
Same. This world is almost unrecognizable when compared to 1997.
@@69canarycamaro8 Everything just seemed more quaint and wholesome

Wonderful
I wonder if she still works there. That was 26 years ago today. I even wonder if the place is still open.
From reading comments I'd say it's not. New and improved replacement is what I gathered.

Merry Christmas to all the hard working lot lizards out there...
This was one of my favs. Gone now. It was taken over by new owners and they got rid of the cafe. They have some kind of Indian cuisine fast food crap. Ruined it.
Exactly. They ruined it. Could have put in a Country Kitchen or something else. Even a Denny's would have been better than what they are now.

Christmas Eve cold in Texas? If you want cold, you should have been in Iowa on Christmas Eve.
1997 is it still there?
No it's a whole new truck stop now. Tore it down.
No they sold out finally it’s a sonic inside and a cold new truck stop now😢
