  • How to do REAL research on the Internet - for school and study.
The Internet today is a vast expanse of varied information: entertainment, opinions, and conflict.
When we are learning and teaching, we want to ensure that our research takes us to places where the information is peer-reviewed and factual.
Can we find this type of information on the Internet? Yes - it's there.
In this video, I will show you Google Scholar, Microsoft Academic, a local Digital Library, and even an iPad App for Research and study. All places where we can find better quality, more authentic information.
Over the past 20+ years, I've seen more and more cases of students using a simple Google Search when completing assignments - citing sources such as Wikipedia as authentic and valid - but is that proper research? (spoiler: it isn't). Fortunately, the world of academic and scientific journals has become available online as well - if you know where to find them.

Thank you ! I’d love to start writing on various topics I feel passionate about and want to advocate for but I don’t want to spread any false information.

This reminds me of Computer Basics (Chapter 9: Researching on the Internet, Pages 247-270).

I was waiting for him to introduce Reddit 😂 Jokes aside, this was very helpful. Ive been trying to focus on other ways outside of the mainstream ways for research, google being one of them

Yes - unfortunately they stopped it. They are doing a huge initiative to move things to Learn, but I’m not sure if they will have a Journal search feature - I don’t think so.
That leaves Google Scholar and your library.
That stated - there are services that use library protocols to connect to academic repositories - for example, I use an academic writing program called Nota Bene that has connectors.
A bit beyond this video though 😀
