The Sad Cafe , In The City and New York Minute are my personal favorites aside from the other hits. I agree with the songs PrettyMaids all in a Row, Victim of Love and Wasted Time.. thanks, Guys. Nice list.
Great list. You definitely hit a bunch of mine. Wasted Time has always been one of my favorites. Brings back memories of listening to it in the late 70’s in my friends basement. And I liked a lot of The Long Run Album, with The Greeks Don’t Want No Freaks being a guilty pleasure, as it’s a fun, goofy song.
Nice list John…I would add Tryin’ and On the Border. I also feel After the Thrill is Gone should have been a bigger hit if it was released as a single!
I would add King of Hollywood, just a kick ass tune. And while it has it's shortcomings, I rarely see any love for Long Road Out Of Eden. I would pick Somebody and Joe Walsh's humorous Last Good Time In Town from that album.
Desperado is an amazing album. Every single song has a story to tell, and a western theme that meshes with the album cover and the feel. It's not just a couple hits with 8 other random filler songs like 99% of all albums. Check it out in case you missed that classic.
My list would include: Early Bird (debut album) Tryin' (debut album) Outlaw Man (Desperado, written by David Blue) Ol' '55 (On the Border, written by Tom Waits) James Dean (On the Border)
At this moment the one thing that has limited the legacy of the Eagles (pardon the "The") is Henley's never ending campaign to prevent younger generations from exposure to them. Every time someone tries to promote them by playing their songs on UA-cam, his private Gestapo of about sixty listeners, possibly sequestered in panel vans without windows but distinguishable by the directional antennae on their roofs- well I just made the part about the panel vans up, intervenes with their listening devices to shut them down and hopefully, to his way of thinking, have their UA-cam privileges revoked. Were it not for his incessant greed he could reap the benefits of who knows how much more wealth, because let's face it the Eagles songbook is outstanding. Fifty-fifty, Henley will have this comment blocked.
As a lifelong Eagles fan the only one I would think should have been a hit on your list would be Try and Love Again (which is my favorite Eagles song). The others are too slow and introspective to be hits, and while very listenable within an album context, they don't really work as standalone songs. Wasted time is a fabulous song but a real downer as a radio song. Too many hands is a great song but not overly radio friendly for that era. The one I would offer would be Visions -- fast enough to grab radio listeners and "singable".
Don Henley could not have made the solo music that he did which was VERY DIFFERENT than the Eagles country rock and pop rock. If you listen to his solo lps like I can’t stand still and it’s hit Dirty Laundry and the album Building the perfect beast and it’s hits boys of summer and all she wants you to do is dance-these albums could never been Eagles albums so I think Henley had other things to do than The Eagles. The Eagles had to have finished their hit making run by 1979 so Don Henley have had his hit career in the 1980s.

I could never understand why "Victim of Love" wasn't released as a single. It's a banger that's really different from most of their hits.
VICTIM OF LOVE. Just a kick ass track with an interesting back story about the lead vocals.
It never gets old…
You Never Cry Like a Lover

My first thought was my favourite Eagles song - Wasted Time. Glad to see it your #1 position.
Don Felder posted a photo of his gf sitting in a restaurant with her shoes kicked off. I captioned it "those shoes" Felder got a kick out of that.
I would add King of Hollywood, just a kick ass tune. And while it has it's shortcomings, I rarely see any love for Long Road Out Of Eden. I would pick Somebody and Joe Walsh's humorous Last Good Time In Town from that album.
My list would have to include:
On The Border
The Greeks Don't Want No Freaks
In The City
Good Day In Hell
Disco Strangler
"Too Many Hands" is about Mother Earth

Those Shoes was the best song on The Long Run

I agree with you
What about James Dean?
Too Many Hands is about Mother Earth per Randy himself.
Cease and Desist by Don Henley in 10..9…8..7..

This band diminished everone else with their hits. 10 additional won't make any difference. The damage is done!
on the border
......joe walsh aside.....the most boring band in world history are the f'n beagles.......
