Brett Kavanaugh’s yearbook has become a surprising form of evidence against him. Cenk Uygur and Ana Kasparian, hosts of The Young Turks, break it down.
    Read more here: www.rawstory.c...
“According to the report, Dolphin was one of the 65 women who signed a letter vouching for the nominee after knowing him in high school. She was not aware of the mention of her name in the 1983 yearbook when she signed the letter on September 14.
‘I learned about these yearbook pages only a few days ago,’ Dolphin told the Times in a statement. ‘I don’t know what ‘Renate Alumnus’ actually means. I can’t begin to comprehend what goes through the minds of 17-year-old boys who write such things, but the insinuation is horrible, hurtful and simply untrue.’
‘I pray their daughters are never treated this way,’ she added.
In a statement, Kavanaugh’s lawyer Alexandra Walsh claimed the mention refers to a single kiss the two shared in high school.”

I am not even that concerned with the party boy life he had as a teenager. I mean let's be honest, we partied a lot when we were young.
But the way he lies at ease, and is expected to hold the highest levels of justice on the supreme court is what bothers me.
And his beliefs about presidential power, among others is just creepy and disgusting.

His beliefs about presidential power (& other issues) are exactly why the Republicans are trying to shove his nomination through to a successful vote.

TC Just TC ………. It was the way Mrs. K. looked, acted, sounded ( for what little he allowed her to speak during the 'interview' ) that is telling. Same look I've seen hundreds of times of the harried, distressed, worn down, spouse of an active, successful, alcoholic . These ( particularly married women about 15 years in ) and they are numbed and demoralized . They show up at their first Al-Anon meetings, and they can barely speak - they are so conditioned into abject support for the alcoholic ( enabling ) and suffering silence . Mrs. K. is another victim . Mental and psychological torture at minimum. Possible physical abuse, or threats of ( but not always ).

    • @Scarabswarm
      @Scarabswarm 5 років тому

Exactly. The first step in changing at all, is admitting you were wrong. He seems to be unable to admit to anything, which lumps all the accusations together such that, if you prove one, you seem to have proved them all.
For example. If he denies ever drinking, gambling, or committing assault, then what happens when you can prove he lied about the drinking? You haven't proven the other two, but you realize that if he wouldn't admit to the lesser crime, then there is no way he would be honest about the greater one. Nobody is likely to say "Yes I killed the man, but I didn't rob him" unless they really didn't rob him.
If he was smart, he would have admitted a couple crappy things to muddy the waters, but blanket denials are suspicious, and it's too late now to walk it back.

    • @audreymuzingo933
      @audreymuzingo933 5 років тому

Believe me, a woman can remember details of a rape SIXTY years ago! For instance: Do you remember where you were and what you were doing when Kennedy was shot, or the towers went down? A rape is such a dramatic affront to a woman's psyche that she can remember extreme details!

That is not true. Every person is different. Many people suppress and bury traumatic experiences. There is a whole field of hypnotherapy digging up details that were suppressed in people's subconscious. Many people don't want to relive the experience through description and recollection. It's a coping mechanism and it is very plausible someone had something horrible happen to them and not remember specific details.

      James Lewis
Where is the lie? I'm trying very hard to see the logic in your comment. Does it not matter to you, sir, that the Democrats said they would NOT confirm this nominee, BEFORE anything was concocted....ahem....I mean, alleged? No? You don't see that the Democrats need only lead the sheep (such as yourself), slightly off course and....ta da.....the WHOLE flock of you, come barreling down the path of INSANITY? where right is wrong and black is white? How does this happen?
You were 17 once, James....and I'm going to assume that you're not a rapist or even, an attempted rapist. I'm going to assume I'm talking to a regular guy here......you honestly see some damning evidence in Kavanaugh's yearbook musings? Really? You disregard the fact that the man was top of his class in a prep school, a (secretly, proud) virgin THROUGHOUT his high school AND college years, DOESNT EVEN USE PROFANITY OF ANY KIND in his yearbook, my goodness.....the PROOF OF GUILT is that he wrote "Alumni Renate" to insinuate an "honorary" place in their school, for a girl that, worst case scenario, was meant to convey the idea he'd "hooked up" with this girl? Or, wanted to? Really? How do you make that leap? A 17 year old kid, whose every word is searched, dissected, and examined, for some incriminating, hidden meaning, that, calling a girl an "alumni", is the tell-tale evidence ......of what, exactly? that he LIED? How? Please explain.
Maybe, the Senate should have asked him if he'd ever masturbated, as a teenager. THAT would've, SURELY, been the needed PROOF that he was/is a depraved animal, capable of an attempted rape, right? There you go, Supreme Court confirmation, shut down!
      Wrong. I'm convinced that
Trump picked the only guy IN AMERICA, that, never, so much as made a sideways glance at anyone, let alone ATTACK a helpless, little girl.
Phew....don't know how Trump pulled that off.... I'm certain any other male, if dealt such an allegation of sexual misconduct, especially in the awkward teen years, in the broadest scope, however innocuous, would have failed. I know that because I was once a teenage girl, and having experienced similar occurrences, recognize that most other girls have, too.
Shame on you, James, for being a sheep.

All of these "accusations" have made people dig into his formative years and now can see the roots of his character and now answers a lot of questions into the way he thinks now. Women to him are 2nd class citizens, just look at his views on abortion. Women don't have thae right to have a choice. Even in the Fox interview he wouldn't let hs wife answer the question. 2. No witness - No one including her best friend who was alleged to be at the scene corroborated the story nor remember any such gatherings.
      3. She cannot remember how she ended up there and how she went home from there.
      4. She never mentions Kavanuaghs name to her therapist.
      5. 12 different inconsistencies were found in her testimony compared to her other records. E.g. she told her therapist that there were 4 of them at the party, later said 6, and "couldn't remember". She couldn't remember whether she went there first or the others were there first.
      6. She has such a questionable memory that is prove that her memory of the entire scene is a "could be Kavanaugh" illusion believed by her self to be Kavanugh when in fact it could be other people.

Kavanaugh's credibility would be greatly improved if he simply admitted to being a jerk in highschool but that he later in life bettered himself: quit his drinking etc. People love to hear about people who turn their lives around, so that could actually help him make him more likable in the eyes of the public. It's the lying that concerns me regarding his potential position on the Supreme Court. Would we really want someone who lies about who he was in highschool? If he's capable and willing to lie about such small things (because there are many who where wild and immature when they were younger), what else could he be capable and willing to lie about? I see some toying with the idea here that attempted rape when young doesn't mean he's the same man today. The problem is that's a huge double standard. If the average person without the protection of wealth were to be found guilty of any of this they'd be recognized by the legal system as a sexual predator for LIFE.

The question is one of "lack of candor" (you know - lying). NOT whether he drank to excess or not. The fact that he is characterizing himself as a studious, choirboy, virgin. To say he didn't "pass out" after drinking. He just went to sleep. C'mon! Does he hear himself? Does he believe that? Hard to fathom. And his displays of anger, outrage and crying, blaming others; that does not indicate a calm, methodical, logical, reasoning man who has control of his own thoughts, feelings, biases, behaviors. Don't say it meant something else, we know you are lying if you say it is anything else. NO, because they don't disrespect ANY fellow human beings, not now, not then, not ever. Girls were their friends, their equals, and occasionally their equals in a loving relationship.
They would have been the first to call the police on Brat Kavanaugh and his affluenza-infected cronies.

Yeah, they may tone it down as they get older, but they remain jerks. Some don't tone it down. One thing that is, on careful consideration, the example of Trump. He was such a problem child back when that he got shipped off to one of those "Private Military Academies". His performance these days doesn't inspire either confidence or trust. If that's "toned down", think what he was like back when. Consider too, who Trump has supported for candidate and his appointments various positions - including Cabinet.

Most of the rest who have more than an ounce of common sense are the people more or less "in the middle" - - economically, politically, and geographiclly: Meaning except for tse on the west coast & east coasts, older than 35, and younger than 55. But granny & grand pappy are more often than not, well, ther're NUTS. And all the younger juveniles have a severe case of Borderline Personality Disorder. UNBELIEVABLE. But, true.
And, I saw the high school yearbook pic of Kavanaugh, not bad....a football star, not half-bad looking.....hmm....
Kevin, it's all starting to make sense now. I thought it kinda creepy that the accuser 1) "....wanted 2 front doors..." on her house?! (speaks to her mental stability, (or, INstability), along with, speaking in baby voice.)
      2) she seemed overly obsessed with this man's career, by her own admission, allegedly, talking to her therapist about his possible Supreme Court appointing, 6 YEARS AGO!
"Fatal Attraction" comes to mind. Very creepy.
Kavanaugh was cute, she was, well, she was a young girl, who was probably crushing on the football star, of a neighboring all-boys prep school. And, let's not forget that, years later, the mother (of that very boy, who never paid her any attention in those high school years) was the presiding judge that ruled AGAINST Ford's parents' case, forcing them into foreclosure of their home. She's now a donating Democrat, (who's parents hate the judge for losing their home, who, also, happens to be in couple's therapy), he's a happily, married Conservative, with a rising star career, and here's her chance to use her 2 master's degrees in psychology, to f$*!@ Kavanaugh over. And seeing Ol' Bret lose his cool and attack setting members of congress sealed the deal. Poor little rich kid got to do what he wanted, when, where, and with whom. A bunch of jocks acting like they have special laws that only the rest of us people with calluses have to follow. Entitled to attack girls and women at every turn of their party system has ruined too many lifes. One is too many, but this is rampant.

Lest we forget that even though these guys may have been 17, blacks (and others) are trialed as adults for serious crimes on a daily basis.

This isn't a trial. It's a nomination. Of course they should investigate. But he doesn't have to be guilty to not be on the court. Character matters. Absolute proof of attempted rape is not the standard for denying him the seat.

Someone who was a jerk when young and then grows into someone benevolent now, also is someone who takes responsibility for their jerk-hood, apologizes and acts to build a history of atonement.

Simple objectification. There is no empathy because there is no acknowledgment that this is a real person rather than a plaything. Sickeningly common, this lack of consciousness. I hope it haunts him now.

He was VERY clearly falsely accused. The people of the panel on the young turks can't even pronounce the accusers name right. Also, ana claimed kavanaugh has been investigated by the FBI 6 times as if he was involved in other mysterious cases. He wasn't and had the people at young turks done their homework they would've found kavanaugh was investigated 6 times in his life by the FBI all because of these same allegations. He doesn't have a track record of being investigated by the FBI as the young turks tried to portray.
If you seek truth, this is not the place to find it.
