I meant to post this comment 2 months ago but here is the “Father and Son Challenge”: -Choose 30 father son duos who play/once played in the NBA. For each duo, spin a wheel with all NBA teams and add them to the chosen team (remove teams after they are selected). Then, add the duos in their primes to their selected NBA team in 2K. Simulate a season to see how well they play and how the current teams are affected by it (remove sons who are currently playing). Bonus: Try to predict which team wins the chip. Honestly the only team I could possibly see wanting Russ would be the Pacers and that's just to commit to the tank and blowing it up. Russ and THT for one of their better players. No way the Mavs would lock up that much money on an aging Russ if they wanna win while they have Luka.

As a a mavs fan I wouldn't be too upset if we got Westbrook. We need that second ball handler that can take some pressure off of luka. We do have Brunson but if we move him into the lineup with Luke we don't have anyone of great quality in our second unit. In my opinion it was a good trade!

With KD they were up 3-1 on a 73 win warriors team and KD btw choked that series, PG had his best season along side Russ and both went into the playoffs injured and came out needing surgeries in the offseason, When he went to Houston with Harden, they lost their best center capela due to a foot injury that hindered him for most of the season even after being traded, Just skip the wizards bc that team had no shot at doin anything, and this year with Lebron he’s getting all of the blame when in reality this team has not seen a single healthy day, it takes time to build chemistry and when your coaching staff starts 20 different lineups at this point in the season turnovers will be a problem. Also bron literally only averages 1 less turnover than Russ so why doesn’t he get flak?

Love this vid and I know you’re not saying this but this really isn’t russ’ fault. It’s the fact that they only play vet min guys alongside the stars. They traded kcp and kuz (trez was a goner either way and can’t play in the playoffs) let kieff go and let Alex go, losing ALL of their depth. That’s where the problem is to me. No one to do the little things at all because honestly Russ has been way better than I expected, playing in the dunker spot, being a decent cutter and even setting screens. It’s easier for people to find one scape goat. That’s just typical human psychology stuff. Westbrook was always polarizing regardless, and I think people blame Russ for the trade even though it’s ultimately the LAL front office and ownership’s fault. Like yea it was a bad trade, he’s a terrible fit with LeBron…but that’s not Russ’s fault. Sure he lobbied to get there, but players wanna go places all the time. If the Lakers were smart and knew how to build a successful roster it would’ve never happened. So if Lakers fans want a scapegoat, it’s not Russ. It’s not Frank Vogel. It’s not AD, LeBron, etc. It’s Rob Pelinka. Jeanie Buss has accountability as an owner, but a good owner hires people to do this kind of stuff. I actually like Jeanie Buss, her intentions seem to be in the right place but she isn’t some basketball expert. She tries to surround herself with smart people and have them make the big decisions, (obviously she has to green light it but she’s not like a lot of owners who are going to meddle in basketball operations and overstep) unfortunately this time Pelinka made the wrong decision. It was influenced by LeBron, AD, and Russ. Sure, no doubt about that. At the end of the day though he’s the guy on the phone, he’s the guy who can say no. A great GM would’ve said “nah guys don’t you remember how Russ had to play in HOU? You literally played them in the playoffs when you won the championship. We don’t have the personnel, the cap space, trade pieces, etc. to build a team that can be successful with all 3 of you. We don’t need a “big 3” to win.” LeBron asked for Spoelstra to get canned early on in MIA, and Pat Riley simply said no. People act like LeBron is the acting GM. He obviously suggests moves and has say, any generational superstar does, and LeBron has more influence than probably any other player…but at the end of the day he is not the one calling other GMs and then sending the trade in to the league office to finalize it. They need(ed)defense and floor spacing. Some continuity, while still being flexible. A good GM would’ve identified how important guys like KCP and Caruso were to their success. The roster obviously needed a shake-up, but it didn’t need a complete damn tear-down. And the thing about the Russ trade is, if it doesn’t work, there’s no reset button. You’re stuck with those 3 for this year and next with basically no real way to do enough to build around them due to their collective salaries. So like I said if Lakers fans need a scapegoat, blame it on Rob Pelinka. He pushed the button. In reality there’s a pie chart of blame that probably goes 10+ people deep, all with different sized pieces, but the biggest piece of that pie is Pelinka.

Obviously the title year had to have an overhaul but trading Danny, javale, letting Dwight, AB, rondo, (nearly kcp) go was such a mistake. Imagine that first round pick (desmond bane likely) and Danny green still on the lakers with ac, kcp, kuz, kieff, vale etc. that team would be deadly but yeah overhauling the roster year after year kills continuity and now with all the chips in the Russ basket, there are few ways to build an adequate rotation. I think if grant is available for talent, k nunn, filler and the pick, you do it and find a way to get a Justin holiday or guy like that and roll the dice from there. Once again, I don’t pick them in that situation against the league’s best, but we at least have a shot then.

I know we’d be hardcapped but you’d have to send out salary to get demar so you’d probably retain Alex and then one of kuz or kcp (maybe not talen) meaning you could start kcp/kuz, Alex, demar, Bron, and AD. I mean that’s a hell of a starting 5 with Trevor ariza, maybe Malik, melo, Austin reaves as your depth and I guess Dwight. Here’s a challenge: Build a 10-Man Rotation but you can only give 10 attributes 99 but all others must be 25(you can give average speed, acceleration etc.)and try to win a championship. That way you can try out which attributes are more important than the other.
So experiment idea: make everyone in the league the same size height and weight. The easiest way to do that would either use a wheel or take the average nba height and weight which would be 6’5” and 215 lbs. see what players benefit from being on an even playing field, what players decline, and what players stay good/great

Version 1: No one on your final rotation on your team could be teammates in the past at all.
Version 2: No one on your final rotation on your team could be teammates in past 10 years or adjust the years to something you think would be a hard but possible.
This is a three year challenge to win the championship but remeber every year you have to rebuild your team because those players will have been teamates.

-Choose 30 father son duos who play/once played in the NBA. For each duo, spin a wheel with all NBA teams and add them to the chosen team (remove teams after they are selected). Then, add the duos in their primes to their selected NBA team in 2K. Simulate a season to see how well they play and how the current teams are affected by it (remove sons who are currently playing).
Bonus: Try to predict which team wins the chip.

As a a mavs fan I wouldn't be too upset if we got Westbrook. We need that second ball handler that can take some pressure off of luka. We do have Brunson but if we move him into the lineup with Luke we don't have anyone of great quality in our second unit. In my opinion it was a good trade!

With KD they were up 3-1 on a 73 win warriors team and KD btw choked that series, PG had his best season along side Russ and both went into the playoffs injured and came out needing surgeries in the offseason, When he went to Houston with Harden, they lost their best center capela due to a foot injury that hindered him for most of the season even after being traded, Just skip the wizards bc that team had no shot at doin anything, and this year with Lebron he’s getting all of the blame when in reality this team has not seen a single healthy day, it takes time to build chemistry and when your coaching staff starts 20 different lineups at this point in the season turnovers will be a problem. Also bron literally only averages 1 less turnover than Russ so why doesn’t he get flak?

Love this vid and I know you’re not saying this but this really isn’t russ’ fault. It’s the fact that they only play vet min guys alongside the stars. They traded kcp and kuz (trez was a goner either way and can’t play in the playoffs) let kieff go and let Alex go, losing ALL of their depth. That’s where the problem is to me. No one to do the little things at all because honestly Russ has been way better than I expected, playing in the dunker spot, being a decent cutter and even setting screens. It’s easier for people to find one scape goat. That’s just typical human psychology stuff. Westbrook was always polarizing regardless, and I think people blame Russ for the trade even though it’s ultimately the LAL front office and ownership’s fault. Like yea it was a bad trade, he’s a terrible fit with LeBron…but that’s not Russ’s fault. Sure he lobbied to get there, but players wanna go places all the time. If the Lakers were smart and knew how to build a successful roster it would’ve never happened. So if Lakers fans want a scapegoat, it’s not Russ. It’s not Frank Vogel. It’s not AD, LeBron, etc. It’s Rob Pelinka. Jeanie Buss has accountability as an owner, but a good owner hires people to do this kind of stuff. I actually like Jeanie Buss, her intentions seem to be in the right place but she isn’t some basketball expert. She tries to surround herself with smart people and have them make the big decisions, (obviously she has to green light it but she’s not like a lot of owners who are going to meddle in basketball operations and overstep) unfortunately this time Pelinka made the wrong decision.
It was influenced by LeBron, AD, and Russ. Sure, no doubt about that. At the end of the day though he’s the guy on the phone, he’s the guy who can say no. A great GM would’ve said “nah guys don’t you remember how Russ had to play in HOU? You literally played them in the playoffs when you won the championship. We don’t have the personnel, the cap space, trade pieces, etc. to build a team that can be successful with all 3 of you. We don’t need a “big 3” to win.” LeBron asked for Spoelstra to get canned early on in MIA, and Pat Riley simply said no. People act like LeBron is the acting GM. He obviously suggests moves and has say, any generational superstar does, and LeBron has more influence than probably any other player…but at the end of the day he is not the one calling other GMs and then sending the trade in to the league office to finalize it.
They need(ed)defense and floor spacing. Some continuity, while still being flexible. A good GM would’ve identified how important guys like KCP and Caruso were to their success. The roster obviously needed a shake-up, but it didn’t need a complete damn tear-down. And the thing about the Russ trade is, if it doesn’t work, there’s no reset button. You’re stuck with those 3 for this year and next with basically no real way to do enough to build around them due to their collective salaries.
So like I said if Lakers fans need a scapegoat, blame it on Rob Pelinka. He pushed the button. In reality there’s a pie chart of blame that probably goes 10+ people deep, all with different sized pieces, but the biggest piece of that pie is Pelinka.

Obviously the title year had to have an overhaul but trading Danny, javale, letting Dwight, AB, rondo, (nearly kcp) go was such a mistake. Imagine that first round pick (desmond bane likely) and Danny green still on the lakers with ac, kcp, kuz, kieff, vale etc. that team would be deadly but yeah overhauling the roster year after year kills continuity and now with all the chips in the Russ basket, there are few ways to build an adequate rotation. I think if grant is available for talent, k nunn, filler and the pick, you do it and find a way to get a Justin holiday or guy like that and roll the dice from there. Once again, I don’t pick them in that situation against the league’s best, but we at least have a shot then.

I know we’d be hardcapped but you’d have to send out salary to get demar so you’d probably retain Alex and then one of kuz or kcp (maybe not talen) meaning you could start kcp/kuz, Alex, demar, Bron, and AD. I mean that’s a hell of a starting 5 with Trevor ariza, maybe Malik, melo, Austin reaves as your depth and I guess Dwight. That team would be a legit chip contender, although I’d like to have one more high level role player but demar’s late game prowess and ability to get a shot against anyone in any situation would probably make up for that. Here’s a challenge: Build a 10-Man Rotation but you can only give 10 attributes 99 but all others must be 25(you can give average speed, acceleration etc.)and try to win a championship. That way you can try out which attributes are more important than the other.
So experiment idea: make everyone in the league the same size height and weight. The easiest way to do that would either use a wheel or take the average nba height and weight which would be 6’5” and 215 lbs. see what players benefit from being on an even playing field, what players decline, and what players stay good/great

Rule 3: You must sign at least top 5 picks every year
Rule 4: You CANNOT trade away top 2 draft picks from each year.
Rule 5: Win championship within first 3 years.
Minor rules: you can change player position for value if needed and feel free to make any other trades at any other time to help your team value
