I just got a Guardian 4 and freaked out that it says it has to be in the arm. I think the idea that most people could do this themselves is crazy. An official medtronic video says something like "you will likely need someone to assist you." I did find other medtronic materials that say persons over 18 can use the Guardian 4 on the abdomen (like I did with the Guardian 3). Also, the arm seems like a place that I would more likely knock the sensor out than on my belly near the navel. In other words, they can't make me do what I can't do.

Right? There is no way I can contort my fingers to do what he's doing here. I live alone and it seems pretty short sighted to assume everyone will have help doing this. It's just idiotic.

Question. I use these sensors... I sweat alot during workouts. The sensors seems to peel off after a few days of heavy workouts. Any advice for keeping it stuck?

Thanks for the question Luke. I live in Texas where it's very humid so I totally get it on the sweat being a factor. Have you tried using additional tape to keep the sensor down? I like to use skingrip, and it's available on amazon, but there are other brands available through diabetes.shop that many people say are very helpful in keeping sensors secure during heavy exercise/sweating. I play basketball in a competitive league while wearing my sensor and the extra tape keeps it in place, even when I get fouled a little too hard for my taste. Ha. Best of luck to you!

Thk you for the self G4 left arm CGM application.
However, I was perplexed as to why you did not appear to have cleansed the sensor post removal prior to application?
Is there a reason?

Hey David!! Appreciate the comment. It’s just a little movie magic, I almost always give a new sensor location an alcohol swab, but sometimes I’m just moving fast and get on to the next step, but if I skipped it on this application there wasn’t a specific reason behind it.

Haia Rob,
you did clean arm with alcohol, it was the charged sensor device that appeared smeared where the anker tape was.
I have tried your very helpful demo, it was really helpful, without It would of been too tech. for me to work out for myself.

What additional cover patch do you use. Skin Grip doesn’t seem to stick to my skin very well.

I use skingrip but have also used simpatch in the past

And how do you have the finger strength to do that? And can you do it on both sides? My fingers are nowhere near strong enough to remove the needle like that 🤦🏻‍♀️

I can do both sides, sometimes it’s just pressing the buttons the right way vs trying to muscle it

Is it fine when u sleep on your arm with the sensor? Does it affect the results?

There is a phenomenon called "compression lows" which can cause the sensor to think that your bg is low if it is compressed. Be sure to check your bg with a glucometer if you are unsure.
