Out of the 3 I’d go with the Kanile’a. I did like the Romero but I’m not a fan of the pineapple shape. It’s personal preference and I know some people like that. It sounded great though. I have a tenor guitarlele but I’m struggling finding the hybrid strings. What strings is the Kanile’a using? I need to replace mine.
I have both koaloha and kanilea. The koaloha is the one I use the most. I use slack key tuning on the kanilea. I've been using classical guitar strings on both. Are there string sets for guitarleles? I hate to waste the extra string length.
Both great instruments. There are string sets for guitarlele which are essentially guitar strings that aren't as long. Here are some options - terrycartermusicstore.com/search?type=product&q=guitarlele+strings
Oh how I love the guitarlele! My Yamaha guitarlele has gone to heaven! Watch my man ! I'm shopping for another guitarlele and get ready for this and a UBass! I love the Daniel Ho guitarlele best! G Nation forever!
Great review! I really like them all. It comes down to the Koaloa or Romero Creations. I find it very hard to choose, but I find myself being drawn to the Tiny Tenor 6. Mango or Koa. I'd like to have both!
Thanks for your great review. Could you please indicate if any of those instruments that you demo’d have truss rods? I’m coming down from a classical guitar and I have owned guitaleles in my past that do not have truss rods and I am always having to deal with an out of tune instrument. This is of course frustrating and not an option for my next purchase. I realize traditionally, guitaleles do not have truss rods but I understand the climate is changing on that. Could you comment?
All three sound great. I lean more Kanilea as I have a super Tenor that I really love. The Romero and Koaloha sound great too. Why can't I have one of each? :-) I like the convenient size of the Koaloha and the neck sizing as well.
@@chokdeesam2365 One of my favorites for depth and playability as well as a beautiful articulate sound was and still is my Romero Creations Grand Tenor. Keeping it forever too. 😊
I had to listen more than once. As much as I generally love KoAloha, I thought this one was more "lele" than "guitar". Which is a perfectly legit sound if that's what you're looking for; personally I'm not. That's _not_ to say anything at all negative about the KoAloha's quality; this is purely a matter of taste. Personally I thought the Romero and the Kanile'a were really close, but on average and to my ears the Kanile'a sounded better when strummed and the Romero when played fingerstyle. I'm mainly a fingerstylist, so the Romero would get the nod from me. They're all top-notch instruments, though.
Plays them too shrill, with the edge of the nail. So they all sound equally cheap. Would be nice to see some finger picking. People looking up these videos care very little about all the specs (we can read/see that online), we just want to hear them for a solid 2 or 3 minutes each, preferably strumming+finger picking the same exact song across them all. There should be more playing than talking for these videos to add value.
Always a fan of the Romero Creations . . . Sweet, full sound . . .

Just came back from a store and could try the Koaloha. Sounds so much better in real! Beautiful instrument and definitely my next :-)

Kanile’a sounds the best to me - full and powerful.

Still happy with your super tenor ?
I want to buy it, super tenor 5 strings :p
@@chokdeesam2365 Yes, love the super tenor Kanilea but mine is a four string. It is just wonderful.
@@tonysluder8236 Excellent ! And what was your ukulele before to buy your Super Tenor ?

Not even close for me. The Kanile’a sounds the fullest. It’s the instrument I personally play.
Love from India!😊✨💕❤️
Romero creations has the sound I like best.

I’m into baratone.
Romero creations
Awesome
Isn't it guitalele (not guitarlele)?
I think Yamaha calls it Guitalele while Kala calls it Guitarlele
