Im literally taking the Holiday today to reorganize and get my head around my inventory. I decided to come see what Ashley thinks.... Thank you for saving me from endless decision fatigue and rummaging in my mind. Videos like this arent flashy, i get it. But they are so so so helpful. Thank you!
My inventory consists of ceramics and glass, so I need to wrap them to keep them from being damaged. But I can see modifying your system based on bins. And no more death piles! Thanks for the inspiration!
Great video and info! One difference - I store in clear bags and use sequenced number stickers (they come in rolls of 1,000 and you can start on any number 1-9 0 eBay). The reasons are as follows: 1. Shoes can stink even after cleaning 2. Folds are preserved better 3. I had mixed up items previously like khakis and numbers on bags fixed this. 4. Grab and ship is faster 5. Generally, the numbers in each bin are in order = faster 6. Prevents damage and accidents like spill coffee, dirt, marks) 6. I can ship with more confidence a shirt or top in a NON-padded bag. 7. Less dust from clothes 8. Gets rid of that lovely Goodwill smell. ;)
9:04 Great video. Another benefit of mixing item types in bins is that its easier to find things. If you have a toy, a sweater, shoes and some dvds in a bin, you will find that sweater pretty quickly when it sells :) I believe that's also how Amazon pulls items in their warehouses ... they mix items so its easier for the person pulling to find the sold items. Cheers, Julien
This is so incredibly helpful! Been selling FBA online since January. All the things I can't sell on Amazon I need to sell on eBay. My dining room has turned into a sh!tstorm! It's so bad & and stressful. I haven't listed ANYTHING for months. Now I know how to organize this mess & get on top of it! Thank you! ❤
Such great tips! I’ve struggled with figuring out a “perfect”inventory system, but I’m learning there really isn’t a perfect system, it’s all about just figuring out what works for you :)
Thank you for making all of this content. My wife and I watch these as we are trying to take our business to that next level. Prayers for you and your family as you get ready for another little one!!!
You and half of the people in America now! Everyone started an ebay store this pandemic..Good luck! Ebay is so saturated and competitive.. f.b marketplace, etc..
@@kimberlyyetta2332 There is no amount of saturation that can stop ones potential for success, being as everyone needs and wants items, whether it be for necessity or hobby, and as most vendors on ebay can bring both new and used items to customers at a discount, saturation is a mute point. :)
Ashley, I love the idea of photographing the bin number the items go in while photographing the item! I definitely find myself with piles of photographed items and this will help so much! Thank you for taking the time to share you ideas! I am so inspired by you and am loving this series! ❤️❤️❤️
That was awesome! I recently spent hours reorganizing my bins and come away from it more confused. I am now committed to redoing the entire process this way. Thanks so much for opening my eyes and taking the time to show me how to achieve organization!
Thats smart and easy way to do, take a last picture of bin number and write it on SKU when listing the item, to easily locate your stuff later when its sold. I would apply this idea for my stuffs too. Thanks for sharing.
You always give the best videos. I sell mainly hard goods and while I have an inventory bin system it is not where I need it to be and I have felt that anquish of not being able to find something in a bin. Sooo stressful and time consuming. I have even bought items just to fill an order until I can find the item. Love your supplies and have just purchased a few to help streamline my businss. Best of luck to you.
Omg I love seeing a business thrive! I’m sure doing all the product listings is a pain 😭 and I understand about editing a UA-cam video. I’m currently editing one for my channel and I’m like UGH WHY DO I STUTTER SO MUCH. Sending you positive vibes for your pregnancy! 💕✨
Older comment.. but just try to pause briefly. The pause let’s your mouth catch up to your brain. Practice it and your ums and ahs will be greatly reduced.
Very informative and smooth. I do similar inventory management for my boxes. But I have one question, where did you learn how to speak so professionally and effectively, did you learn that in school? I have so much trouble trying to describe things in my videos. I just don't know where to start and than forgot what I want to say. Lol sorry I know it's off topic but I hope I can learn how to speak like you.. And one more Q, how's your business doing. Mine slowed down a lot since the beginning of winter
Hey Ashley, thanks for the useful information! Also recommend using an inventory management software to take it a step further and track your inventory in real-time. 🙌 Sending love and support to all small businesses and freelancers!
Love this! I’ve just started to build my inventory and have been wondering the best way to organize it. I started poly bagging items and am so glad I didn’t keep going that route to store items!
Thanks for the great content. I have a real small reselling channel but enjoy and have learned from a lot of your tips...and good luck with your new baby also
This is awesome and simple. I just started to scale up my business and was wondering what method I was going to use and I really like this. Thanks for putting this out! Ohhh and I wish you the best with your pregnancy!! 😀
I am so glad you posted this video! Oh I have naturally been Gravitating to your system myself and for some reason so stuck on thinking everything to be in bins of like items. I finally feel free to do what every morning to do now. Your video helped me tremendously thank you thank you thank you!
Wow, Ashely! I have been looking to do an overhaul on my storage system. I have a bins system too, but of course, more complex. I will likely give this a go! :)
For me personally, don't be afraid to include the bin number at the end of your title. Buyers get used to this but they may ask "what the heck is that B01 in your title?" but it makes it easier for YOU when it's time to find the item for shipping, especially if you're using your phone.
Hello, I found your shared information very useful. I have been following 10 people/couples for a year now. I am opening my store in the beginning of January and was looking for items I need to start. I am trying to find how to figure the shipping costs and how too upload the pictures, and a few other small things. I am 63 years old and a bit nervous but am also very excited to add to my SS that I recieve monthly. Thank God for that but it only pays the monthly bills. I would like to actually have some money to be able to go out to eat or whatever when I want to get out of the house. Thanks again, I will be watching more of your content.
Thank you, I'm just trying to tackle this and it's a real chore. I love the bins you have and although I sell mostly Vintage Decor, they should work nicely.
I used to put items in bins by size/category etc. I do mine in similar bin method. For my clothing ones I do large ziplock bags from Walmart and it has an area for writing. I put the bin-item number. They stand up straight in the totes in 2 rows (don’t put lids on them) and so easy to pull out tote like a drawer and grab the correct item in a second. I have to do item number because sometimes I have the same brand or item and different size etc. It just helps with making sure I am getting the exact item that sold. I also like the ziplock because I don’t use lids on these totes. It keeps the items dust free if stored for a while. I store unlisted items in solid gray totes because I do sort by type of item for speedier photographing & listing. So I will grab a tote full of jeans or full of golf shirts...certain little toys I collect to lot up etc in different gray totes...whatever and just do one right after another. Then my listed ones are in clear totes. I pull one tote and photograph them and just check at bins for space. I keep a notebook handy and just have the number I need to start at for that bin. It is easy.
My system is modeled after yours but shoes and items that are listed as a set or lot are the one item that put in poly bags. This keeps them together. As always, great content!
It will work much better for you if you give each item you list a unique SKU number and keep a spread sheet which allows you to track which SKUs are in which boxes
Omg thank you for this video!! I’m gonna try this out, it’s so annoying since I have all my clothes in 2 giant boxes on top of eachother and I forget where I leave the stuff and I don’t prebag them cus of the same problem of forgetting what the item is and ppl wanting to see more of the item.. I saw the way you have your bins set up and I’m gonna try to do mines like that!! Since I’m a petite skinny girl I can’t really carry them giant bins filled with heavy clothing😭 and I constantly have to push the one on top of the 2nd bin because it’s on top of the other bin😩 they also aren’t see through so it’s even worse LOL
Hi Ashley - Are you still using this same inventory system? I know you also sell hardgoods, so are those items going in the bins also with the clothing? Do you keep a spreadsheet or anything to track your sales? Thanks for all your content. I have learned so much from you!
You are telling the truth about the stress and not being able to find orders when I really got serious selling on eBay I was working a full-time job and a part-time job that almost had full-time hours and I continue to list on eBay because you’re really penalized for not listing. The area that was let go was keeping up with my inventory in my mind I knew where it was but at times I would have items in a different spot with a group of other items that had not been listed and I really cost myself points on eBay. Thank you for your wonderful video
I store items in poly bags, but I leave the bags open and kinda stand them up in my bin. I can walk over to check on additional questions by the buyer.
Good Evening...loved your inventory system!!! I know your video has been on youtube for a while but I'm a newbee and trying to get the basics down. You mentioned there was info about your bins and I think you said your brackets for the bins. I could not find it. Could you please share that with me. I believe you have had your baby by now. Love you being a busy mom and having your online business. I'm a senior and learning a lot about ebay. Thank you again for sharing. There was a motivational speaker years ago by the name of Zig Ziglar. One of his comments was " You can have everything in life you want, if you just help enough other get what they want."
Awesome ive been putting things in the usps free crinkly envelopes in my bins and it’s such a hassle to look through and my boyfriend hates waking up to me digging through my bins for shipping bc we are currently in a one bedroom and these bags are crazy loud and my living room and dining room are also my work and storage space. I hate it but i don’t want to keep my inventory in my garage bc it’s about a 5 minute walk and detached from our building and there have been multiple floods in that garage so I’m weary of using that space. I do not like having inventory all over but right now it’s just what I’m working with. I do need a study rack bc currently I just have bins stacked tall up against the wall and not all of my bins are the same size. It might be worth re-doing this bc a few of my bins are so big that I can’t hardly move or lift them they are 50 gallon bins that I keep shoes in. I have 4 of them 2 are for shoes 2 are for random things: one is for miscellaneous things that have no bin yet but are listed and didn’t get put away the other is stuff that still needs listing and right now I have about 8 boxes of inventory that needs to go up. I don’t sell on eBay right now I only sell on posh and sometimes on depop it Mercari if I feel like cross listing. If I don’t list daily I don’t make daily sales so it’s so important to spread out my listings. I have such a massive amount up, I literally have over 750 active listings and I’m only selling as many as I constantly list each day so if I miss days it hurts my business. Not sure how to find a way around this.
Thank you for this. I have yet to build my inventory and I have more of a stash in a “organized” fashion in a special location of my house. I was going to school awhile back for accounting and I chose the worse time when I still had two little toddlers at home and they needed me. So, I quit my accounting class. I have no accounting knowledge, but if you have more tips on keeping up with inventory and your bookkeeping/accounting methods, etc.. please keep posting those videos too. I only use Mercari, but you mentioned about a cross platform or Flyp? Where you list on that app and it will put your listing into your different platforms. I would like to know more about that too. You are so pretty. You have that pregnancy glow. I miss those days. I have 3 kids of my own and they are a blessing and a handful. I would like at least one more baby.
Thank you for the video n hope you have a great pregnancy n healthy. My problem is the shipping that scares me. Macari n posh are so easy. eBay is for me the hardest I’m sure it’s easy but I start n then delete what I posted.
Hello new subscriber here! Living the content. I'm also a stay at home mom thrifting and flipping but only do it through FB marketplace. I'm looking to expand my horizons. Do you have have any videos of how to do the shipping? I only do cash and carry with my sells because it really eliminates returns 💯 %. Another question do you have a video on how much you've lost in returns? How to protect yourself from fraud?
IMO, just because HAHM seems super busy, simply doing a no returns on your items saves you a headache. If you have careful measurements, and brands are familiar, you eliminate the stress. You eliminate potential customers, so weigh your work/life balance here. As a guy, if I wreck my favorite Nikes, I'm purchasing the same size shoes, in similar brand and I have no plans to return. Buyers still return my items if there's a defect, but the last thing you want is a picky customer who has buyer's remorse (you'd be amazed how many people are drinking and buying late at night) and then you're on the hook for their fickleness. Buyers should know, or you can tell them in your listing, they are still allowed to return items for defects, just not for changing their mind after the purchase is made. Plus, once the buyer knows you're a quality seller, they'll come back and buy again. And maybe even tell someone else. Best way to keep yourself sane imo.
Thank you for the video! And praying for a smooth delivery for you and your new baby.😍 Question! How do you keep track of cost of goods of each item if you don't number them each in the box?
Thanks for making these videos. I am brand new at selling on ebay and really appreciate all the info. Can I ask you a question plz? Where did you get the storage shelves behind you in this video? Did you buy them? or make them? Can you give more info on where you bought? or how you constructed them? TYIA! I will be watching all your videos. :)
To me too. Sold, then I have a disgruntled buyer and try calling ebay to sort it out, they are hard to actually call, to get a living person on the other line, and then software glitches are never solved (ebay is still showing 2 offers that are now over 2 years old, even after talking to them and being assured they would deal with this). GO THROUGH YOUR INVENTORY from time to time. Go to your "active listings" and then add a note to the item (under the "EDIT" drop down on the left of your item). When you move something, just add a note. Buyers can't see it, but you can when you go to ship the sold item.
@@misteress8008 yes I had a pair of camo pants that sold and somehow it was listed again. Good thing I live in a Marine town. I was able to pick up another pair to send them.
Hi! Just found you today, and I'm hooked. You have knowledge a lot of the resellers I follow don't seem to worry much about. I do have a question after looking at your eBay store. How are you allowed to sell NWT The North Face? It's a VERO brand on eBay, so my understanding is that we are only allowed to sell it in any but NWT condition. I may not understand the VERO program. Thanks for your content!
I love this system. The individual bagging never made sense to me. My question is, if you cross post, where do you put your bin number? In the title? Thanks!!

I can’t find the link for your bin and shelf system! Can you give it to me please? Thank you!
How many items do you usually have in your inventory per month? Great video! Prayers for your baby and growing family!
Thank you for the video n hope you have a great pregnancy n healthy. My problem is the shipping that scares me. Macari n posh are so easy. eBay is for me the hardest I’m sure it’s easy but I start n then delete what I posted.
I put my items in ziplock bags. Label with white stickers item & sz. When it sells I put them in poly bags.
If I am switching in and out items from bins I just use a dry erase marker on the front.
Love this, so simple!
This was super super helpful !!
*W@$$UP!!* All kinds of great Ideas & Tips...
Thank you for the video! And praying for a smooth delivery for you and your new baby.😍 Question! How do you keep track of cost of goods of each item if you don't number them each in the box?
Thankyou so much this was really helpful. So you put the number when you list the item ? I’ll look into that
Thank you for your info
Thank you Ashley congratulations you look beautiful🐾💙😇🐕
So clever 👍🙏
What type of camera do you use for photographs
Thanks for making these videos. I am brand new at selling on ebay and really appreciate all the info. Can I ask you a question plz? Where did you get the storage shelves behind you in this video? Did you buy them? or make them? Can you give more info on where you bought? or how you constructed them? TYIA! I will be watching all your videos. :)
there on the video link
Oh and make sure eBay doesn’t repost an item you’ve sold. I’m hearing that happens too.
Genius! Thank you!
Useful tips indeed!
Thanks for sharing!
This was awesomesauce!
I'm needing to get a system for bookkeeping and inventory purpose etc. When you purchase your items, how do you log, etc?
Why have I never thought of sorting my listings by sku?! Duh!
🥰
That’s exactly what I do, I put it in a bin without a number.
I use that system
Thank you so much 😊
Thanks!
You are SO kind! Thanks so much! I'm glad it helped!! 🥰
@@HustleatHomeMom Honestly you are one of the few people who really motivated me to give eBay one more shot and it's going great :)
Do you wash clothes before your sell them? Do you put fabric softener sheets or something like that in bins to make everything smell nice?
Looking for the link to your shelves and bins. I am going to try this I already stopped the poly bags for each item for these very reasons. thank you!
THANK U
Amazing video thank you! Do you also keep a written inventory list or excel sheet?
I do! I will make that available soon 🥰
I love this system. The individual bagging never made sense to me. My question is, if you cross post, where do you put your bin number? In the title? Thanks!!
I enjoy your videos..question is what size are your bins? Thanks
Love it. Thanks
