The audio track shows how the people of Australia heard the signals what these large antennas broadcasted somewhere on the globe..
Reminds me of my days as a transmitter technician at CBC Calgary Alberta, the good old days!
Excellent compilation! Antique to modern, amateur to professional, modest to gargantuan. Thx, 73's, Ray. W8ISK. USA
I miss the days I used to listen to shortwave. That was 40 yrs ago. The world has changed.
Yes so do i there was something mystical about listening to radio stations back then as the signal drifted / faded and burst back into life again , That was RADIO.
OH MY GOD! SO MANY WONDERFUL MEMORIES OF THE DISTANT PAST! I can not thank you enough. KK4EKL.
It's also the present. Get a receiver and hear it for yourself!
Cool video!!!!
Awesome arrangement
As a ham radio operator and life long enthusiast, I heartily approve!

2:35 Wow! Inductor and capacitor heaven! Judging by the size, there must be some serious juice running through those when they're operating (hopefully with nobody in the room at the time!)...

PLEASE LOOK FOR MORE INFORFMATION ABOUT WBCQ.
The station is broadcasting daily. I hear German,English, Arabic transmissions daytime. Those are directed transmissions and I am located way behind the antenna. ( Chicago suburb,Illinois, antenna is in Main state)Possible the waves coming to me after travel around the globe or coming from a side beam of the antenna because those daytime signals are low. Frequency is always 9330 kHz . The transmission can reach any point on the globe with powerful, local-like signal. This monster antenna has 3D movements. See it on WBCQ web site or find more info on youtube..
Is it still being used ad where is it?
Love ur post
I remember listening to all of these short wave stations back in the 60's and 70's. It's a shame they are now off the air. I believe it was a big mistake, we depend on the internet way too much, What happens if the internet goes down ? Then we are all left in the dark ...
The shortwave band is not empty; there are stations broadcasting both day and night. Radio amateur operators are active on shortwave bands and even above the CB band. It is easier to achieve good reception in these less crowded bands.
In America, we hear fewer stations, whereas in Europe, there are significantly more stations on the bands. Additionally, stations from Asia, Africa, and the Middle East are also present in Europe.
You can download an app on your phone to listen to the shortwave band using online receivers located anywhere in the world. Yes, I also utilize this option. There are free apps and services available for this purpose.
This antenna is still in use at 9330 kHz every day. It is capable of transmitting up to 2000 kW (yes, 2 MWatt!) power.
Amazing
6:56 Magnificent!

9:41 That's an interesting antenna. What is it? An array of folded dipoles with some kind of curtain mesh reflector behind?

Was hoping to see Akrotiri Cyprus Radio Relay, and you had to include HAARP, how about an AN FLR/9, and our Jim Creek site here in Seattle area. Old school HF systems are very cool

Short wave used to be nice,we were able to listen to many stations around the world, now the airwaves are covered by white evangelicals and Cuban ancient music.what a crap.
