How fun! Even in dyeing the order of operations matters.😂 Overdyeing is fascinating. I used some shield lichen and got a dusky pink on my wool. Next I used yellow coreopsis on top and got an orange with a hint of peach. Yummy!
Haha...so true!! Building up color in this way is so rich and can bring about the most delicious and endless color spectrum. I'm definitely going to incorporate more of this in my own practice 💚
@@botanicaltreasures2408 Very true - I have absolutely loved this series of exploration with over-dyeing 💚 It is an endless discovery of the depth and richness of natural color.
@@MargaretByrdColorQuest Right now blanketflower is in bloom. It appears to be giving a light pink.I put a skein in the pink lichen bath and then I will overdye it with blanketflower to see if I get a richer pink. Also I put a skein in the blanketflower so I’ll overdye it with the lichen and see if I get two different shades or not.
Always happy to see green emerge 💚 The red you see in the weld bath is actually the stained dye pot from madder that sat too long. I have not yet tried woad, but it is on the list 😊
You are most welcome! Yes, you can use any yellow dye matter as your base color for over-dyeing techniques. It is fun to experiment with different plants and see the variations of colors that emerge 🌼
Thank you so much.
My pleasure, Vickie 💚

Those colors are stunning.
Thanks sweets - green is so yummy 💚
@@MargaretByrdColorQuest as is you
Well I must say - these colours are wonderful! The weld dye bath looks slightly reddish, which surprised me. Have you ever dyed with woad?

Wonderful. Thanks for the informative video. Can I use any yellow dye instead of weld?
