Alimony is the most ridiculous thing ever. Once you're divorced you shouldn't have to take care of your ex. It's like paying for a car that you no longer own. People get remarried and still get Alimony from their ex spouse. It's like quitting your job and expecting to still get paid.
The thing is she may have supported him during that time the spent together, quite likely her best earning years. Imagine having to start working at 40 or 50 with no skills. I think it is fine in principle, just execution isn’t right. Perhaps if it diminished as it went would be fairer.
