TheCoolKid check out a book called “remembering the kanji” by James Heisig. I was very intimidated by kanji, but I’ve learned 100/week with that book where I can actually write them from memory with only an English word to go on. There are free versions of flash cards for that book here: www.polarcloud.com/kanji but you’ll probably want to make your own and you’ll need the book to learn how to learn. It feels awesome to finally learn kanji after fearing them for so long. But learning them is very different than I expected. Hope this helps ;)
@@jkenfore another option is Kodansha Kanji Learner's Course. It includes readings and vocabulary, too. I like the order the book taught the kanji. The mnemonics also encourage you to see the meaning in the kanji as a pictograph instead of using abstract phrases. Not saying it's better though. Both are good and work for different kinds of people. Just commenting it in here in case someone wanting to learn Kanji sees this comment.

I'm learning Japanese since a few weeks and got so used to looking at my ugly written kanji. But thanks to this video I fell in love with them again. So satisfying. So beautiful. Maybe I'll find the time to do calligraphy some day.
Native English speaker here that speaks Korean as a second language and is learning Spanish - have any other polyglots noticed that the translations are not the same in each language? There are a few words that I saw the different translations and there were differences in how they were translated. Is it because a translator was used or are there multiple meanings to words that I just don't know? Things to look into, I suppose. Regardless, watching this master write is an absolute joy and I'm glad these videos exist!

When your mind play with you and you wrote the Katakana "o" instead of the Kanji "sai=talent" 9:37 this is the best example how tricky is Kanji sometimes.

I've decided it's time to use this quarantine/lockdown time to upgrade my Japanese knowledge and learn more kanji. (I only learn this so that I can read mangas that hasn't been translated yet lol). If I can read then I will slowly learn to talk. That's my only conclusion I can find in my mind

I noticed that too, like for the kanji for wing, the Spanish translation was pluma, which is feather, not wing.

@Kaminoonto This pen is very common thing in Japan. You can buy it every store dealing with writing materials in Japan: convenience stores, 100yen shops, bookstores etc

考える【かんがえる】kinda sounds like "kangaroo", and the part at the bottom of the kanji 考 kinda reminds me of a bouncing motion, similar to that of kangaroo lol (idk if its just me)
