Very good explanation. My english is not good but I can understand your very good explanation. Such as good topics in your videos. Congrats for your channel mr. Loflin...
These are really informative vids. Looks like you are building up to an arduino controller for AC, like in home automation or something. Looking forward to the progress.
Great video but ‘I’ didn’t detect the ‘zero cross’ in polarity the capacitor in the devices detected it as it switches polarity so then all ‘I’ had to do was delay the ‘on’ time for the gate to allow that polarity to pass through upon which again the capacitor in the various devices SCR or TRIAC or DIAC will again see a switch in polarity so on and so forth.
Zero cross in polarity? This produces a 5-volt pulse at 0and 180 degrees. What capacitor? There's no capacitor in this circuit other than a RC snubber circuit across the output.

TheSageDad Yes that is what this is about. I've had that out for for a few years and decided on more detail for the various sections.
When the first diode can pass only half cycle, as they are unidirectional, how can the bridge get, & pass full cycle?
The SCR optocoupler acts as a dc switch in regard to the four diodes. It conducts on both half cycles to the triac gate.
Thank you.
excellent video thanx lewis
