I used to think that more is always more. For many years, my main challenge was to transform bedroom-born songs into stage-ready creatures, fit for the ears of hundreds and thousands.
Lately however, I have tried to reverse that process. I skinned off the band, removed instruments and sounds, shrank the crew and production until there was only the bare bones left: me, backed only by my pocket symphony Katrine playing the cello, and my own guitar and accordion.
What happened was magical. All of a sudden, the songs sounded like they did the moment they were born. Gone was the production and hours of studio time, adjustments and compromises. Only the lyrics, the stories and the bare melodies that sparked the ideas were left.
For a short year now, I’ve had the joy of touring like this: on top of the songs’ back. A new world to explore, and it’s right there in my hands.
On stage: Pål Moddi Knutsen - guitar, piano, accordion, vocals. Katrine Schiøtt - cello, vocals.
Filmed by Hilde Mesics, Sindre Lønnes and Jørgen Nordby. Edited by Jørgen Nordby. Lights by Isak Bjørn. Recorded by Truls Olsen. Mixed by Kristoffer Bonsaksen. Mastered by Chris Samson. Released on Propeller Recordings 2014.

Moddi, ta voie à elle seule est une melodie, une poésie.

Jeg skulle sagt ikke ''because they were the ones who were blind'', men gjerne ''because of the blind passenger''.
