Ikr and it's a remix too. Made me feel so sad (about Midgar - you can't even go back there in Rebirth). Almost felt like being homesick... you could feel the desolation through this song.
The first time I heard this song while playing I literally fell asleep. I've never felt so calm in my life and when i woke up the game was still going and i literally started crying beause of how beautiful and peacefull the song felt for me.
looked for this song since finishing the game (remake), but wasn't there Just looked again, finally found it. Thanks for sharing. This song is great for claiming while work, rest, and before sleep.
Part 1: ||:C Lydian, Em9:|| Part 2: A7, Em(9), A7, Cmaj7, A7, C, Em, D, C, Part 3: ||:D, (C), Em, D, C:|| (2nd time uses same chords, but it goes up the scale as opposed to down it) Part 4: Em, A7, C, Em C lydian is C, E, F#, B. ENJOY!
"The C Lydian is a mode of the G Major Scale. It contains exactly the same notes, but starts on another note." Is that true? Plus what you included in your comment, I have come across three additional explanations -- all of which interestingly enough lead to a similar tone. Saw some jazz chord graphs that made my head hurt.
Ever since I heard this song, it just... Washes over me. I really thought I would be unwelcoming to new music in the series, boy was I ever wrong. This music makes you think on a level that should be illegal.
@@ninjagaiden86 I absolutely love listening to Nobuo Uematsu's music -- especially Final Fantasy 7. Also in tandem due to it being a giant part of my childhood, it's just the arrangement of those songs are so intuitive and stick to their common motifs and themes throughout the game. I kinda figured he had a hand in making this song because of how catchy it is really. Some of the other music is meh but this song is amazing.
@@nelia039 Because an original piece that is set in the minds of millions a certain way is just one that is not easily rearranged or recomposed to match a newer era and feel. Like out of all the remake projects I've been into this one is like....the most intense one for me. So naturally the music was like a really big thing for me. I've just heard retouched music for remade games that sounded... not as great as the originals or were missing melodies and motifs. In short I didn't believe I'd be able to find love for the remade music like I did for the original music due to past experiences, but they really did a great job with the whole soundtrack on this project. Certainly opened my mind a bit.
So this ost is an instrumental of the song "hallow" that plays at the end of the remake. I think the song is definitely about aerith now since the instrumental version plays in the main area(sector 5 slums) you first start after meeting aerith .
Hollow is about Cloud's perspective foremost, and the only one he's howled about is Zack, so there's a big involvement of him and instrumentation that's closer to Crisis Core - but the one he'll howl about in the future is Aerith. They were, are, and will be figures that he's spiritually connected to, as he is emotionally tethered to Tifa. In a strange and yet unexplained sense, Cloud is already mourning Aerith. We've seen this in scenes before. This track is a reflection of that; as they're leaving Midgar, Aerith knows on an unknown level that she's setting everyone on a crash course with supposed destiny, and especially Cloud. However, I PERSONALLY think its possible that the song might end up operating on multiple levels. Maybe its about Cloud to his 'true' self that we saw a glimpse of when unconscious in the Church. Maybe its (very unlikely) secretly even about Sephiroth, one form of which (the cosmic one) may have a different self, feelings, attachments, and agenda we'll see in the future. But at least on the face, its the most about Cloud towards his *future* consequences with Aerith, something that at least Rebirth will be focusing on. In the long run, it might be instead applied to Tifa, who will later be the physical presence and actions that directly heals up Cloud when he's even worse than his recent 'hollowing out'. But in the moment, it seems pretty transparently Cloud to Aerith. If they reuse the melody later in the trilogy, it may expand to something to do with Tifa, but at least for now, its tied to locations, proceedings, and emotional scenes that involve Aerith and Cloud (and Zack). But it is a Cloud song. This part should be indisputable, and it's from the creators' mouths.

I get some serious Pink Floyd vibes from this and I’m not versed enough in music theory to even guess why. Makes me like the song all the more, though.

You hear this and BAM! You’re back in lockdown 2020
LITERALLY! Such a distinct feeling
Yea, the nostalgia.
Man, I miss the old days. Things just aren't the same anymore.
Straight up, this was one of the few things that have me peace back then. I'd just put this on and lie down
Damn... I thought I was the only one felt that way. It was so good to play this in 2020 lockdown. The nostalgia for the game is strong.
I love how this song captures Midgar so well. I love how FF7 has that "hope in a hopeless situation" thing going on.
This song kicking in when you visit the Midgar Wastelands in Rebirth - just pure perfection.
Ikr and it's a remix too. Made me feel so sad (about Midgar - you can't even go back there in Rebirth). Almost felt like being homesick... you could feel the desolation through this song.
Man that ost felt really calming
On god
This is one of the best hard hitting theme songs that are in ff7 remake intergrade
Im always thinking about aerith when listening to this❤@@6IXSTRING90

I've always loved this bittersweet tune.
If the world as it is today had a BGM, this would be it:
We truly live in Midgar.
Somber but calming, as one deals with the daily grind. Yet hope still builds up in the end, to remind that dreams are always within reach...
Man lockdown 2020 and ff7 remake was the perfect mix , what a time to be alive , i miss 2020 so much
If Apple Tree/Price of Freedom are Zack's themes, this is undoubtedly Cloud's Fits him perfectly.

I'll have to save this for the music mini-game in Rebirth.
Song is amazing, as everyone states, but it has a very sad undertone
Chapters 8 and 9 = my favorite parts of REMAKE, Cloud's date with Aerith.
I absolutely love this song.
I hate the place in time that it takes me.
Why? 2020 was great
Thank you so much for uploading this, "Hollow Skies" makes me feel sad but also calm.

Crazy part is , it’s the only Uematsu song. He’s so good that his new track on FFVIIr slaps so hard and feels comfortable for us again.

Why? If there’s something SE gets right ALWAYS is the music. They have extremely talented and passionate people composing the music.

Same soundtrack like in rebirth biggs and zack in the slums?great
Silent Fantasy VII
Im glad they decided to reuse this track from ff7 last order credits good anime adaptation of crisis core last chapters
Hold on. It was from that OVA?
@MariaRamirez-fx7vl yes most people didn't watch it or forgot all about it a few songs from There also got included in crisis core
That's not the official end credits song. It was added to the end of the fan eng dub. Although it is much better than the original
Just looked into it, the dub uses this song, the original has a generic rock song
I want someone to replicate this track in the original ff7 midi sound.
Somebody did Sara Garad UA-cam channel. FF 7 original game version it sounds darker.
Remake definitely had a better soundtrack than Rebrith.
