In this episode we take a look at some facts, secrets, and history of Luigi. Luigi is was by Nintendo veteran Shigeru Miyamoto, and is portrayed as the fraternal twin brother of Mario. Luigi first appeared in the 1983 game Mario Bros, and reprised his role in Super Mario Bros, Super Mario Bros 3, and Super Mario World onward. The first game where he was available as a primary character was Super Mario Bros 2. Originally developed as a palette swap of Mario with a green color scheme instead of red, Luigi has since developed a personality and style of his own.

Luigi is sadly really underrated, but to me, he's my main man and I don't really know how, give me for example NSMB for the DS and I'll somehow play worse with Mario than with Luigi and it's always been like that to me, I'm so used to controlling Luigi that I barely have any trouble using him, plus he's an amazing character, he's funny, brave (yes he has a lot of fears but to endure them to save those in need is a true sign of bravery to me) plus he's one of the most kindhearted characters in the Mushroom Kingdom, so yeah Luigi is my number 1 pick followed by the big bad himself Bowser as he's also fun to use in the games you can play as him

I think it would be better if Miyamoto had less control over how games were designed at Nintendo. Don't get me wrong, the guy is a genius and a pioneer, but the way people speak about his influence on modern games, it's always "Miyamoto doesn't like this, so we redesigned the whole game". This leads to many games at Nintendo falling into a certain archetype. It seems that Miyamoto doesn't think story or characters are particularly important, and he values very simple themes to a fault. That worked back when games were simpler, but that's not what a large portion of Nintendo's fanbase wants. Paper Mario TTYD was a huge hit, critically acclaimed across the board and still a legendary game to this day, while Sticker Star was a critical flop. A lot of people point to Miyamoto when discussing what went wrong with SS, because it seems that most of the problems were his idea.
Again, it's not that he's not great, but he has too much sway in decision-making. He's one person with a limited set of ideas. That pool may be deeper than the average game designer, but he doesn't represent the wide range of desires gamers have. Nintendo is stagnating, and it seems that every game they put out is designed around Miyamoto's preferences. Of course, it's a Japanese company and they're big on respecting the hierarchy and not saying no to their bosses, but a single person has lots of bad ideas, even if that person is a genius.

That's pretty much how most of the fans been noticing Miyamoto's way of thinking when a certain idea doesn't quite work.
Dude, Brother, Nintendo still rocks with crap hardware thanks to Miyamoto's influence. Despite experimenting with hardware, thanks to Miyamoto-san everything worked fine.
When you play a Mario game, you can say "Yeah, that's Mario allright" no matter if it's Mario Galaxy, Mario 3D World or New Mario bros. All of them are different, but Miyamoto-san's wonderful brain ties em up.
I personally want Nintendo to use beefy hardware and third party support, or at least rent their IP's. Just to see the results, but i'm okay with whatever Miyamoto-san cooks up. Because that guys ia a master cook.
I agree that Miyamoto should be given less control, but I don't think Nintendo is stagnating. The only major game companies that are stagnating are Microsoft and Konami.
Plus Miyamoto should still have control, he has made some big mistakes but he is still incredibly savvy and continues to have excellent and often revolutionary ideas.
I loved Luigi's Mansion as a kid. Recently saw it in arcade form at my local Dave & Busters, and it was definitely a new game from the last time I had visited there.

That's not actually true. Daisy is confirmed to be more of a tomboy, Peach doesn't see herself as "protected" by Mario (more like she's just grateful he's there when things go wrong), Toadsworth is a total worry-wart when it comes to Peach's safety, Bowser is only evil because Kamek raised him to be a spoiled brat, Wario is a greedy fat fuck who went on a journey to get a castle which he eventually got, and Mario actually has a little more unique personality now, but it's hard to see at times (best examples are found in Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle cutscenes).

Mario is the kind of guy you want to party with. He's friends with everyone, always has his energy high and is down for any crazy adventure you want to go on. Luigi is the kind of guy you just chill and talk with, go to a movie or play some games. He's willing to talk more about personal stuff and listen to others opinions. I don't know how I just came up with that, but it kinda works.

Luigi’s Mansion on the GameCube is one of my favorite games. Although Dark Moon on 3DS has more content I prefer the ghost graphics from the original. Even the 3DS remake isn’t able to reproduce the fine tuned ghost from the GameCube version which looked transparent and still solid at the same time. Now we get Luigi’s Mansion 3 on the Switch this year and I’m looking forward to it! The original Luigi’s Mansion running on a 2001 GameCube is still eye candy if you ask me. Great video. I love your channel, guys!
