I am/was one of those people who have been hospitalized after a funnel web spider bite. I was lucky enough to be one of the first to have the antivenene.

I was cleaning up busted pools awnings fallen trees and garden rocks mini landslides etc etc, after the huge damaging storms in the North Shore in the late 80s
One morning I counted a total of 12 funnel web spiders
I was probably not getting paid enough money as a kid doing that (just $13 an hour) LOL
I discovered most of them under rocks and fallen logs etc
I never got bitten thank God
They’re moving up around here in the mid North Coast of New South Wales and have been for a few years now
Apparently they love making caravans their homes, and when people from the North Shore go on holidays up here they (Funnel webs)end up in our local caravan park gardens

I was bitten 5 times on my foot. Luckily the venom swab test showed it was a female at the peak of breeding season so her venom toxicity was extremely low. The doctor told me not to worry, it's not going to kill you. But the pain you're going to feel might. The pain that followed for the next 12 or so hours was something worse than death but. Could only lay on the floor with my ankle tied to the door handle to keep my foot up squirming and hitting the floor in agony.

@@annettegeorge209 I was bitten on my arm by a little fluffy something my brother tricked me into patting when I was a kid. He was laughing and thought it was funny, I wasn't and didn't.
Australia is the smallest continent and the largest island, because it's surrounded by water. Also, it's South Australia, not Southern Australia.

Yep, we recently imported another 1.2 million - although some will soon have paid space in jail! Yes Ayers Rock doesn't do much! I won't be eating Emu or Crocodile, emu oil is ok! We have 270 cultures here, mostly peaceful! I had a spider on my pillow this morning, but I threw him over the balcony without any drama! Oh Australia, import more nice family people! 🧐
Our women just need to stop taking the pill and create a family environment again. Every family used to have at least 7 kids, now women are lucky to even have one. Thats the problem. We are being replaced due to this.

@@mackash idealistic! The pill came out in 1960, and provided women with the freedom to explore their other interests and talents while having more quality time to relax with their existing children! Many of their mother's did not have long healthy lives either! Sadly most modern Australian mother's don't have the luxury of those freedoms any more, most women need to work and every child deserves quality time, peace and a secure home! 😥 We can support more family migration, but this massive illegal arrival of young men, is not compatible with family life! 🤨

No one killed by a spider for 40 years! I got bit by a white tale spider and to save my life had my left leg amputated, was revived 3 times and spent 14 weeks in hospital. Walking fine now with a prosthetic leg. Nearly stuffed up their statistic !! 😅

Any of the southern cities from May to August, Adelaide Melbourne and Hobart. They're all bloody miserable in autumn and winter. Summers not much better either. Hobart's too cold, Melbourne's too unpredictable and Adelaide is too bloody hot.
