There's different levels of bootlegs. Sometimes the original factory produces extras to sell under the table, sometimes they're factory seconds that didn't make it to the dumpster, sometimes they're actual Hasbro figures that fell off the truck. And, rarely, they're entirely third-party copycats made with limited articulation, gummy plastic and potentially toxic paint; these are the most authentic bootlegs.
Factory seconds aren’t a thing anymore, not on mainstream sites like aliexpress or dhgate. It was a thing with SOME Spider-Man figures after 2010. But now, it’s not a thing anymore.
@@frmacst108idk where u get that info but it very much is. It’s still a pretty prevalent conversation. While it’s definitely not like how it used to be rather purposefully or unintentional, but it still does happen
Recently went to one of my favorite shops and found this figure with all of it's accessories for $20. Was scared that it was fake once I realized that was the price range of the bootleg figure, but this video helped me confirm I had the real figure. Thank you. :)
The two easiest ways to tell if you're buying a KO/bootleg is the price and item location. If the figure is a popular figure that's been out for awhile and going for retail price or close, it's for sure a KO. If the seller is in China, then it's a KO. Also, if every picture is a stock photo, that's also a good indicator it's a bootleg. I have a few KO figures (Jubilee BAF Storm and the actual Jubilee BAF, Juggernaut wave Deadpool, Monster Venom, and a few others) as well as the actual figures and the KO's could easily pass for the authentic figure.
I fully agree that the black suit mafex is also my grail lol. I want it so bad lmao but for now my vhs Black suit works good which I personally prefer a lot more to the retro. I like the blue highlights and toe articulation. I
My wife got him for me when he was still like 20 bucks, mines held up, still tight, no chipping, and mine is also more matted than that, the eyes shine but it looks cool imo. Honestly it was the early days/the tell tale signs of the poor quality control days we are in now lol
I bought my son the SDCC exclusive Venom bootleg (because he’s 4) but even I felt guilty opening it because the quality was so bad. He’s stoked on it, which is all that matters, but me being a picky action figure dad is pretty unhappy with how loose the joints are, specifically the ab crochet and the butterfly joints. If anyone knows of a link for a trusted and good seller, I’d appreciate it!
I absolutely love my KO Retro Symbiote. He's of better quality than a couple other bootlegs I have. Likely in large part due to black being tougher to mess up. I had an order canceled for an OG, so hey Hasbro I tried. I like my KO Pizza Spidey and the one with black and green too.
Have a ton of KOs and never had a paint chipping issue. Loose joints on some, but.... They are sitting on a shelf so they're fine. Also, paint isn't hard to get or expensive. 😂
It's really hard to tell with this one since there are no web lines to examine and the joints seem to be tight on a lot of them for this model. Two biggest tells are was it a Chinese seller in ebay and was the packaging in bad shape? If it came from a Chinese seller it's almost certainly fake.
The bootleg spider is too low. Goes below the waist on every copy. It’s also slanted. Hasbro is higher quality. Not to mention it retailed for $22 and was very easy to get. So you are comparing a $15+ figure to a $22 figure. It’s a fair comparison. Bootlegs are illegal. Always get the original.
Not to mention it retailed last year, nobody wants to pay $40-$60+ on secondary market. Lots of people buy bootlegs, illegal or not. People can get those or wait for a Hasbro re-release. Simple
what figure WOULD YOU buy?
Honestly, any type of symbiote spiderman.
Bootleg
MAFEX black spider man's joints are really tight i love that
Link to the bootleg

I have a bootleg. Bought in June and came on 3rd July 2024
9:16 haha that me😅
They just came out with the bootleg Mafex, actually. Be a good pickup just to see.
The butterfly joint on the right shoulder doesn't move, only the one on the left!! If I put it in hot water will it help it move?
it should! sometimes they're stuck with melted plastic. probably not though! good luck
@@ROCCOTHEGREAT thanks
This is kinda goood bootleg until the Paint chips off 😂
So does the official figure so….

Dude i think mine might be a fake cuz i bought mine off ebay for £30 i can’t really tell tho is there any main differences between the two?

Nah came in bubble wrap and no bent package
Do you think the fakes would end up in Walmart or any toy stores on accident?
people can do scam returns!
9:40 What do you mean wash them off? Wash them off with what? Just water?
Before mafex, shf, zdtoys are better than hasbro now even there own bootlegs
deff
Good review 👍🏼👍🏼
U sure that’s a bootleg? It says marvel on the packaging
I would buy the bootleg
Love this video
Where did you get your bootleg spidey?
Aliexpress is where I got mine. Tight joints and awesome quality overall. eBuy-Disney Store $16.25 is the store I used and can vouch for.
@@h.b.nielsen5619 link?
damn bootleg game is craaazy
WHERE DID YOU BUY THIS BOOTLEG
Not Amazon. Aliexpress and I recommend store eBuy-Disney Store for this particular figure. Mine has tight joints and is fantastic. $16.25.
Where would one buy a bootleg one? Asking for a friend...
It’s cheaper
I usually do aliexpress but I wouldn't recommend because sometimes they scam. look for good feedback when buying on the shady websites & good luck!
Damn I’m stupid
dis was indeed a factual video except dawg, why were you examining the butt crack on a piece of plastic💀💀🙏🏽🙏🏽
I have the original so no need for either figure.
Ok
Hi
I’d rather have the official figure… And I do.
Who wouldn't? When production stops though you make do.
