    It is very painful when our flesh is poked and stabbed at by the world. I want to REALLY want to soak in TRUTH that will soothe and protect me from the shame, pain and fear that pokes and stabs at all my soft spots and is sometimes pure torture. Tim, you have been given a way with speaking to the hearts of God's children. You are the the man to explain the color blue to a blind man. I feel joy when I kind of "get it". :}

This teaching about trusting God while in the unknown (darkness) reminds me of the 23rd Psalm. “Yea though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil. For thou art with me; Thy rod and thy staff they comfort me”

Thank you for opening up the scriptures. I've been in counseling for complex trauma for a few years now, and indeed I've been in churches where peope try to give me a "Now" word....in other words, I must BELIEVE and I'll be healed. What they don't want to do, is for me NOT BE SICK. NOT SUFFER so they don't have an understanding of my life. So I end up feeling that I don't belong, I'm not spiritual enough 😢

Suzi my guess is you are in a type of charismatic type church. I left them behind. I was never going to be enough or I had to “ fake til I made it”. Truth is the Word of God. I was given a guy, Les Feldick, Bible Study I found on YT., if you want to try. The lessons are 30 min each. He goes book by book and verse by verse. He’s not a preacher- just a farmer that wants to get people excited about reading the scripture. He avoids religion-traditions- politics- just what the author of book is trying to say in context. Try Les 18-1-1 ( there will be 4 sessions 18-1-2, 18-1-3, 18-1-4) so Im over explained it 🤣but give it a try and “ bypass” the experience at that church. You dont need prophetic type church, just try the Word of God. Trusting God comes by hearing the Word of God like this Bible Study. Faith comes by hearing, hearing by the Word of God. I hope this helps you. I’ll be praying for you. It took me years -15-20 years to realize all my time in this church environment had absolutely no value. But those simple Bible Study was a life saver. I finally got it !! ✝️🙏🏽💕💕 WOW I really like this preacher. I nailed it well. ❤️

Remarkable teaching. This is exactly what has happened to me. I was raised in a cult and when I accepted Jesus in 2018 things got very dark and life became even more confusing. The people were “churchy” and only “positive”. This helps so much to know because I know the New Age doesn’t offer salvation in the end. Very grateful to start learning the truth.

Has Tim addressed trauma resulting from the weaponization of religion? As a recovering Baptist, the primary takeaway from my upbringing in the church was an overwhelming sense of guilt, shame and inadequacy, along with a stolen identity, a murdered soul, and most of the other CPTSD characteristics he has explained. I thought I loved my parents and my family dearly, in my limited (crippled) understanding. But my view now is that I was raised by ignorant and cowardly terrorists in an abusive home, and none of us knew real love at all. My dis-illusion was a painful process, and the collateral destruction was staggering.

Southern Babtist calling out to CrankyHermit! I am still so afraid I am going to hell even though I believe...really believe. I was a serial "aisle walker". When they played the alter call "Just As I AM" I was at that alter begging for salvation and accepting Christ as my personal Saviour. Each time it only resulted in feeling like it didn't work for me. I had to leave the institutions to find Christ. I wanted to go to church, but my parent's wouldn't go, or even take me and drop me off. I was in elementary school. I had to hitch a ride with neighbors. Mom and Dad were too busy hating each other and their children. I DID love them. They did to us all they knew how to do. It is shocking to realize I came from a very emotionally abusive and wacko family. My brothers and I were curses to them and not blessings. It is freeing to face the ugly truth. Clinical depression and fear of hell fire and damnation is very uncomfortable.

It’s crazy I never heard of spiritual bypassing till therapy … it changed my life realising how we use these things to escape painful feelings … I believe all religion is created for us to bypass feelings of helplessness, uncertainty and pain of loss or grief … similarly to how we gaslight ourselves for feeling sad or tired or quietly scared it feels real to feel real it feels really real to feel fully the feelings of both spectrums of both pain plus pleasure . If we cut off one side if we cut off the pain we cut off the pleasure … if we cut off sadness we cut off happiness … we need to fully feel it all to live a life rich with pain plus pleasure plus experience of real rawness it just feels so real to really feel it all !!’n!!!’!!!!

I do agree with you that people use religion to escape painful feelings, but it’s important not to make the genetic fallacy where explaining something’s origin invalidates it. Something’s origin doesn’t have anything to do with its validity when it comes to logical reasoning. The premises for God must be examined. We can’t just say “Well people just invented God as a crutch” because you can say the same about anything “people are atheists because they want to sin.” These are all not real arguments because they utilize the genetic fallacy.

Great stuff! I loved that part at 0:30 and 19:45 about "spiritual bypassing" why people seek quick fixes 23:00 instead of fully trusting in God. So true! Well said! (I just found your videos today)
My only "what?!" is where you re-defined Righteous = Healthy and you said "sin is whatever is not healthy" (in video at 7:28)
That's NOT what the Bible says. Sin is clearly defined in the Bible and "healthy" has nothing to do with it.
Sin = anything that we do (or think) that is against the will of God.
Examples how Righteousness is not always a healthy choice: Jesus said love your enemy - that's not a healthy approach to life. Jesus went 40 days without food - not healthy. Jesus and the apostles submitted to suffering even being beaten to near death for the truth - not healthy.
Paul said "Now I rejoice in what I am suffering for you, and I fill up in my flesh what is still lacking in regard to Christ’s afflictions". Suffering is not healthy.
The problem with re-defining Righteousness = Healthy is that "healthy" is undefinable and subjective. Healthy is whatever a person wants to believe is healthy for them. Righteousness is clear and simple and not subjective.
I know too many new agers and witches who claim that "healthy" is their lifestyle. They've turned whatever they perceive as being their "health" into their religion of health and 'self-love'. No. Not what the Bible teaches. Does Jesus want us to make healthy choices? Of course. But Righteousness is NOT healthiness. Righteousness is right-living before God. Doing what is right according to God... not doing what we think would be healthy for us.

    • @babycakesweetiepie77

Our righteousness is Jesus . We will never make it on our own. We our righteous because Jesus died for our sins . You are absolutely right That righteousness is not Healthy. It need level if understanding and level of faith someone have
If you still hurtful and have many problem, loving your enemy totally is bad idea
But if you already whole and more mature
You can approach the enemy with kindness, because it's actually simple to imagine, none of us was free of sin, we was sinner but we get forgiven
And if we cant forgive and love other sinner, our love is not yet perfect

The text that you quoted was taken out of context and twisted to fit what you believe. The breast plate of righteousness does not mean "healthy". What translation are you reading? The righteousness that you put on is not your own. It's the righteousness of Christ. It's what He did for us that we depend upon and not our own righteousness. Where do you get healthy? You're missing a great truth here that truly heal. When we truly live in Him and take on His righteousness and not living in what we deserve because of sin. If you ignore sin you'll never heal. So I looked at Strong’s: the word righteousness is the Greek dikaiosyne and in the broad sense means “the state of him who is such as he ought to be.” As it’s used in Ephesians 6:14, it means “integrity, virtue, purity of life, uprightness, correctness in thinking, feeling and acting.” In the context of this topic I can see how the word “healthy” could apply.

How about finding Bible passages that help us bypass the many, many, many passages that make no sense and/or are offensive.
If your God has inspired this collection of stories with the intention to enlighten, educate or guide "his creations" then, speaking for myself, he's missed the mark by a wide margin.
Please explain to me why any author, anonymous, real or fictional, would produce a manual that originally could be read only by a very select few of the elite and that requires endless explanation and is open to endless translation, interpretation, alteration and cherry picking, as this Bible is.
I really don't expect an answer that makes any sense... but give it a try, will you? Thank you.

Bible is tricky book, it made that way so whoever that in their mind against God will never understand it (someone under carnal mind)
I cant answer what your problem with Bible is because it could be very personal and i dont want to try give you idea by my perspective that could be totally different from your life experience
But i simply want to say to you, why dont you ask Jesus to reveal himself to you, you say that Bible is book that inspired by God, so i recommend you to ask the author himself, which is God, to answer your questions
I used to confused with all those verses, and God reveal the meaning to me, not all at once but one by one, every verses and parables
So it better for you to bring your question to God, all of it and let Him answer you, He know better the way how your mind working and what happen to you in your personal life ,so He know better how you process information and how you can understanding stuff

I process information primarily by using logic and reason. Emotions are highly unreliable guides in this life, IMO.
I also use the knowledge of how VULNERABLE the human mind is to suggestion and to being FOOLED...and, once fooled, how nearly impossible it is to UN-fool that mind. I have no intention of "asking Jesus to reveal himself to me." I'm well aware how easy it is to fool even myself if I tried. Millions obviously have successfully convinced themselves there is a God (of some sort... about 3,000 have been invented BY HUMANS so far).
      So why no Jesus?
Because I have no desire or need for what any religious belief offers. I am 85 years of age, enjoy reasonably good health, have as many friends as I wish to have, I have no desire to join a "community" of similar thinkers for support, I have had a very interesting, rewarding and productive life, and I am of sound mind... I do not believe in supernatural gods, or ghosts (holy or otherwise) or spirits, or angels, or sprites, or goblins, or fairies at the bottom of the garden. When SCIENCE proves that any or all actually do exist, I will gladly reexamine my views.
Thanks for your interest.... but I do not need "saving."

@@rae0521 then why bother asking about Jesus if you enjoying your life without him?
Each person have different way experience with faith
If you enjoy what you do and you find you dont need saving, well, then go enjoy it
And if you enjoy what you have and you dont believe in whatever supernatural or spiritual, and only live by logic, why give question in first place? What you try to get if you find it rubbish in first place?
You can go on enjoy internet without commenting or if the content not to your liking, just skip it and find another one
I simply tell you what i experience and i find God in that way, kind of supernatural way, but i will not interesting to force/comment to someone that have no interest with God at all, because everything have its own place
And it's your right to ignore and reject the gospel
And it's good to hear that you have good friend around you and led a productive life, usually people your age dont have it

In what way first? If you try look for spiritual then i recommend to pray and open your Bible, so letting God lead you in what you need to do for your recovery
but if what looking is medical, then go to doctor and watch other video from Tim, he mention about complex trauma
The latter one is maybe not going to work because it's limited and without God, you will never able beat the old Adam and genetic etc

So much of the content Tim Fletcher shares is helpful and insightful. It's a shame there is a muddying of the waters with his religiosity. I do appreciate that he offers his ideological leanings at the end of his talks as a choice for the viewer but it is still unfortunate that it is mentioned at all. Disappointing... These abstractions are so unhelpful when sprinkled in with the actual content of his talks. Bummer.

Jesus did not end what God created Jesus ended sin not evil in his short work upon the the earth. God created good and evil isaiah 45 v7 and they still exist sin does not. Evil has always existed even before Adam was created. The tree of knowledge of good and evil was in the garden before Adam. The big lie taught by religions is that sin still exists it is through this lie that they derive their power wealth and authority. The bible and all the abrahmaic religions including Jesus work all ended in 70AD with the destruction of the temple. All Jesus prophesized about were 3 things , his second coming, the destruction of unbelieving israel and the destruction of the temple then standing. Jesus said all these 3 events would take place in the lifetime and generation of those he was talking to then. They occurred in 70AD. The temple was made desolate and not one stone stood upon another and never will be again. The bible ended in 70AD so to think scriptures have power today may give you some placebo effect but that is the best you will get.

Jesus offer the way to end sin, and he open up the way of work of evil, so everyone can see what evil is
Because many people still sinning now and true evil not yet gone, later when the day his 2nd coming, the true evil will be punish
And about Bible give placebo effect is something i find it interesting, do you ever see some miracle or not? Because if you does, you will not say it placebo
If it only happen once or twice or three it's okay, maybe placebo but feel the verses talking to you every time for more than one years, like everytime you open Bible, you will doubt it placebo, too many to be coincidence
If you think Bible stop in 70 AD, then all Christian right now is foolish people, coz there is no more future
Yet why still many people see Jesus, or experience miracle if Jesus stop working in 70AD?
The Bible still not yet finish, no one truly live together in God's eternal kingdom, one prophecy about the 1000 years kingdom and the new earth and sky still not yet fulfill, also condition that people will have body that cant aging or sick or cant do evil anymore

No. Placebo effect is the best YOU will get.
Why? Because you don't believe in God's Word.

@@susannluckmann7705 Jesus could take on others sickness and it would not hurt him because he was sinless not born of transgression. The people got sick because of sinful flesh. When a believer believed in the blood of Jesus he received the holy ghost and was born again and became part of the holy temple of God and while their faith subsisted they too became sinless and could raise the dead heal all sickness and do greater miracles. I believe What Jesus said you dont. You claim the Holy Spirit yet you cannot do even the smallest of miracles why is that? The answer is that you have decieved yourself and denied the completed work of God and his christ and you tell yourself that you are born of the seed of adam and that satan and sin rule this world and that all you have coming is the grave. Also in the world you have created for yourself heaven is still closed no one is there because heaven was only opened after the work of God and his christ were completed. This is not what the book or Jesus said but the world you have created for yourself is enteirely a man made construct

@@susannluckmann7705 I am 70 thought i was a christian most of my life, i dont now. If you think you are a christian then you must think you are filled with the holy spirit because that according to the book is what a christian is. If you say you have the holy spirit then you have to ask yourself why you have no power to do anything that ALL those in the book of acts could do. This is not a personal attack on you it just is a comment to get you to think critically about something you are basing eternity on.
