The lap bars also help create faster capacity and they're equally as safe as the shoulder harnesses on Kingda KA., we're also not even talking about how Dragster is in the center of Cedar Point and viewed as a centerpiece to all of Cedar Point. Kingda KA runs along the parking lot, and before Zumanjaro was made, you couldn't really get anywhere near Kingda Ka outside of the station. Zumanjaro I'd argue the case, is the better ride of the 2 that share the same structure. It's 415 feet tall, it's very smooth, and it's extremely fast. and it's capacity is outstanding and Kingda Ka must yield to it's dispatch. Dragster would never yield to anything on it's structure because Cedar Point wouldn't allow it.
I'm going to Cedar Point this year! I've been on Kingda Ka when I went to NYC and we drove into the ticket area of Cedar Point to see what it looks like. I CANT WAIT!
I've only ridden Kingda Ka, but I gotta say while it was fun it felt like a bit of a one trick pony. Nitro, Medusa and the amazing El Toro got a lot more re-rides by us that day.
I've never ridden Kingda Ka, but I can say that Cedar Point did an amazing job of presenting this ride and bringing the theme out. The sound effects, the lights, the colors, even the area around the coaster adds to it, with the signs and the bleachers. Even little stuff like that finish line thing, the two cameras, and that stand outside the opening called "Top Chill Snowcones." Maybe the actual ride Kingda Ka is better, but all things considered Cedar Point did a much better job with the coaster even if it isn't as fast or tall.
I totally agree with your presentation point. Kinda ka should have been turned the other way so the tall part was toward the center of the park. Unless you know where to look you can't even see it at the park. Dragster on the other hand, you can see and hear it from almost anywhere at cedar point. Not only do I love to ride coasters I love to see them go too. Great adventure fails at this with their parks lay out.
Kingda Ka reaches a higher top speed in less time (128mph in 3.5 vs 120 in 3.8), perhaps this is why some consider it to have a "rougher" launch. I haven't ridden TTD so I don't really know though.
Unknown Warrior after you’ve rode dragster and kingda ka many times kingda ka kinda gets boring and I think el toro’s crazy airtime makes it the best ride the (imo).
Great point about presentation. I'm taking my 80 year old dad to CP who will not be riding many if any of the coasters, but I know he will get a kick out of seeing the Dragster launch with me in it.
went on dragster for the first time today I was about to pee my pants I was terrified, but now it is one of my favorite rides!! so glad I went on it! :)
I've ridden both and personally, I like Kingda Ka better even tho cedar point is my home park. the airtime hill makes the ride a little more better than TTD.
Mark Jefferson what do you mean by “dum-dum”? He said that he has ridden both and he said he personally likes kingda ka better. I know you said it has more airtime but that’s just one element. He likes kingda ka because it has many elements
KingDa ka is easily better. KingDa ka actually makes you scared, while dragster feels basic. Plus, the hill at the end of KingDa Ka really is better, and the safety restraint is New Jersey State Law, not the parks choice.
Brian Smith I have been on both, and King da ka was more preferable for me just because the wait time was shorter, I rode in the front row, and when I rode TTD, it still had those themed giant dragster wheels at the back they removed, which caused the ride to roll back and break down a lot. That's why I like King da ka more.
Top Thrill is the better ride. I've been on both and Top Thrill is much smoother, but I do like Kingda Ka as well despite it being somewhat rough. I mainly went there for El Toro :)
Ok, I honestly think top thrill dragster is better, but I think it's stupid people are so defensive. Both are launch coasters. Both are the same, so don't say kingda ka is way scarier. It's only 30+ feet taller. And honestly I do like cedar fair and cedar point, but don't have a little 3 year old argument over which one is better.
You do have to keep in mind, though, that dragster came first. Of course Kingda Ka is taller, faster, and generally more advanced. Why would they make a copy that was shorter and slower? Top thrill dragster had nothing to compare to. Well, dragster won anyway so whatever, but just sayin.
King da ka wins for tallest and fastest, but remember Cedar point’s top thrill dragster was the worlds first kind and it was the worlds fastest and tallest coaster. TTD was built in 2003 and KDK was built in 2005. However since TTD came out first, the coaster made a huge impact to the Six Flags company, so they built a similar version and it was faster and taller. Which made TTD 2nd Tallest. Formula Rossa is now considered the world fastest coaster. But tallest? No. Honestly, the credit for this battle is TTD because of its originality and theming. Yes KDK wins for speed and height compare to TTD but KDK is a replica/ “copy”. The only thing is different is the height, speed and 1 airtime hill. I understand CP fans are mad that they lost the title for “worlds tallest and fastest” in 2005, but I know for sure GA fans are annoyed that TTD is the first strata coaster that was ever built. Which makes KDK a “copy” of TTD. SixFlags has always been trying to beat out Cedar Point for years, but let’s be honest Cedar Point will always be the world’s greatest amusement park. Even though SFMM has more coasters. Cedar Points coasters will always kick ass, even SFs fans “low key” knows it. Cedar Point will always be on top. That’s something that SFs will never be. All of there coasters are copies/replicas. Even if SFs made a successful or “worlds first” roller coaster... it’s going to hit every SFs Park in the US.
Top Thrill's theming is awesome. Real dragster on-site, bleachers like it's a real raceway, engine noises pumping through speakers before launch, christmas tree drag lights to indicate go-time, and signs in wait line providing fun facts about real drag cars and how they compare to the coaster.
I have ridden both. I personally like Top Thrill dragster better. First and foremost. Top thrill dragster now loads you significantly faster. With Zumanjaro delaying launches on Kingda ka every 5 minutes, kingda ka can only run one bay. Top thrill dragster has 2 loading bays and a massive unloading bay. you move better on Dragster than kingda ka. They both have plenty of down time. so neither hold an edge on the other. these coasters are engineering nightmares. hydraulics, cable catapults, magnetic systems, both are going to see plenty of down time to assure that they are in proper working order. Kingda ka has the statistics on it side, but personally i think top thrill dragster has the overall experience. The foundation upon which dragster is built on keeps the tower sturdier and the ride a bit smoother. if you take a walk down to zumanjaro and look at the footers of kingda ka, you will see it's built on a swampy wet land which anybody that knows engineering knows it's not the most ideal land to build off of. further braces were also installed on kingda ka to help support the ride with the bad foundation. another thing you must consider is more money went into top thrill dragster. they both cost the exact same amount to make. however kingda ka is a much more massive ride. it's taller it's longer. The extra money got used else where on top thrill dragster such as lights, and effects. where as the lighting for Kingda ka was installed several years later and still isn't a fraction of the dragster capabilities. They also bought the rights for a theme song for top thrill dragster that gets blasted in the station. and djs that play music while in line. I have done top thrill dragster 36 times in one day over the course of a 4 hour span. registering as a single rider to bypass as much people as possible. Over the course of 6 hours at kingda ka i was only able to get on 18 times. both typical june days before the big crowds arrive in july. both are descent rides. although i personally like Zumanjaro better than kingda ka. back when it was new i briefly held the reccord for most rides in a day at 65. but that's long since been passed. Kingda ka is built on bad foundation it could have been much better if it was built elsewhere in the park.
Jonny Glessner I agree theming is important, but not all components are of equal value. For example when judging a movie, you would not say Story is as important as setting.
he didn't even give kinda ka a good rating on themeing just because he didn't understand it. It is in the golden kingdom section of the park which is all African safari themed ank the thame of the rollercoaster is based off a legend with a snake in Africa and it is themed good for the part of the park that it is in.
People need to stop with this coping thing. Parks look years ahead! No park choices to add a huge coaster like this with only 2 years of planning, maybe even less because GA didn't see the success of TTD until after it opened. GA looked years ahead and it just happened to open 2 years after TTD. Also, Six Flags wouldn't just add a coaster because of TTD, they needed a launch coaster and they thought it would bring more people in, and it did! Unless you work for Six Flags and knew they copied TTD or whatever, don't say they copied, because they really didn't!
go to Kingda Ka if you care about speed and height go to Top Thrill Dragster if you care about theming and watch. also Kingda Ka opened with a observation area but then closed of fear something would fly off the ride also thats why kingda ka line changed. It feel like Top Thrill Dragster know something or two about thing flying off the ride
its the pathway leading up to the station. the original queue started at the arch entrance and went under the launch track. it was roped off after the 2005 malfunction for safety reasons, so the park had to reconfigure and had to use the viewing area.
Heading to Cedar Point for the first time with my daughter this August....We're so excited for Top Thrill Dragster....Hope there is zero issues of breaking down this summer for any of Cedar's rides, they've had enough time to get the park dialed in with this virus stuff.
I'm not trying to sound like a butthurt sf fanboy, but I personally like king da ka a lot better because you can't see the launch. It gives an element of surprise and especially the fact that they don't tell you when you launch. In my opinion this just gives more intensity to the ride.
They don't really tell you when you launch on dragster either. I mean, yeah, there's the lights, but that happens in a second and you're already gone. If anything, being able to clearly see the launch heightens anticipation. And honestly, I've ridden Dragster dozens of times and that launch surprises me every time. Actually just got back from Cedar Point a couple hours ago ✌🏼️ I haven't been on Kingda Ka however so I can't say Dragster is better
+Jonny Glessner yeah when I rode ttd I was around the back (2 rows from the back) and I was on the right side towards the exit i couldn't see the lights and then we went it was freakin crazy
I’ve tried both and in my opinion I love the dragster so much better it’s so much better because it’s so much more fun and it’s so fun in the front row day or night and I feel much more safe on the top thrill dragster cedar point is way way way way way way way better then six flags. Like if you agree
I've been on kingda ka and I didn't find the restraints to be a problem. Storm runner at Hersheypark has those exact same restraints. I've never been to cedar point to ride top thrill dragster.
If you think those restraints aren't a problem, then you're in for a WOOORRRRLD of a difference when you ride Dragster. I haven't ridden Kingda Ka, but I have ridden Maverick, which had the same restraints before they switched the soft restraints. Imagining myself riding dragster with those seems unpleasant
+Jonny Glessner DO NOT say things like that to me ever again! I don't think I'll ever get a chance to visit cedar point. OTSR restraints can hold your upper body in place while a lap bar can't hold your upper body in place. Lap bars can't match the safety that an OTSR provides. If a ride goes upside down and it doesn't have an OTSR, I usually avoid it.
+Brad Williams Dare devil dive is one. Not many manufacturers have figured out how to make a ride that goes upside down without an OTSR for rider safety.
I have been on both rides a numerous amount of times and I think that Top Thrill Dragster is way more satisfying than Kingda Ka because of the restraints and smoothness of the ride.
I have to say I like Kingda Ka better because on top thrill dragster you only have lap bars and on Kingda Ka you can't tell when you will Lauch and it is a total surprise and did I mention Kingda Ka never got stuck at the top. Kingda Ka for me wins
Madison Jannuzzi there isn’t a timer for when the launch on dragster. There is a half second when you know it’s going to launch and that’s right when the launch is. It does not make a difference it’s for the theming.
U can actually watch the launch on kingda ka in 2 spots. 1. If u go back through the exit of kingda ka there is a balcony that gives u a great view. 2. Go through the line at zoomanjaro
This is kinda biased for me, because CP is my home park, but I agree with the results, dragster is more intense cause of the lap bars, and kingda ka's launch hurts

Dragster would never yield to anything on it's structure because Cedar Point wouldn't allow it.
I'm going to Cedar Point this year! I've been on Kingda Ka when I went to NYC and we drove into the ticket area of Cedar Point to see what it looks like. I CANT WAIT!
Glad Top Thrill Dragster won, I agree with all your points made, good video!
I agree with top thrill dragster winning its my home park I love the dragster
Levi Jason yep cedar point is my home park I live an hour away from it and I already have my season pass renewed for next year
Levi Jason and kings island is only 3 hours away from me
Levi Jason oh actually cedar point is an hour and like 40 mins away from me and kings island is 4 hours away from me
I’m from Cincinnati and prefer Cedar Point worth the 4 hour trip!
I wish this series continued, maybe with a updated version that doesn’t have such a heavy reliance on PowerPoints.
Dragster should get extra points for not being straight up copy for a world record.
It was made by the same company..
@@unknownwarrior5672 The company isn't who decided to build a copy, the park was
Exactly six flags ripped off cedar point and did a horrible job.
I have only ridden top thrill dragster so top thrill dragster
I was not the hegiht requierd i was a topthrill gangster
Jk i have never ride it ._.
You should ride kinda ka
You’re probably not missing anything considering how rough kingda ka is.
I love this coaster fight concept!
I’m going for kingda ka team
kingda ka is the BEST! don't listen to the ceder point fans!
Why?
@@SFR_07 haha Cedar Point is the Rollercoaster capital and that’s a fact. Six Flags has way more accidents than Cedar Fair. Facts.
I've only ridden Kingda Ka, but I gotta say while it was fun it felt like a bit of a one trick pony. Nitro, Medusa and the amazing El Toro got a lot more re-rides by us that day.
Good video. The outcome is reflected on the coaster polls like Mitch hawker and the Golden Ticket Awards. Dragster is indeed better
This is my favorites coaster fight so far!
+Bossman & Company Agreed!!!!
true
I've never ridden Kingda Ka, but I can say that Cedar Point did an amazing job of presenting this ride and bringing the theme out. The sound effects, the lights, the colors, even the area around the coaster adds to it, with the signs and the bleachers. Even little stuff like that finish line thing, the two cameras, and that stand outside the opening called "Top Chill Snowcones." Maybe the actual ride Kingda Ka is better, but all things considered Cedar Point did a much better job with the coaster even if it isn't as fast or tall.
Top Thrill Dragster is my fav. I have ridden both.
The reason why Ka has over the shoulder restraints because N.J. state law saws a roller coaster over 300 ft has to have over the shoulder restraints
TTD for life!
top thrill dragster i just got back from cedar point
about the pull up bar, I rather have the safety bar bc on a roller coaster like, I would feel a lot better and it did since I went on kingda ka
Prefer king da ka because it’s taller and it’s fun and I’ll feel safe wit the ones wrap around the shoulders
You can’t even tell the difference in height. Also lap bar is very safe but it’s good because lap bar makes you feel the air and make it more scary
That’s what takes away the thrill
Over the shoulders are uncomfortable and TTD is way safer trust me. Six flags doesn’t take care of the rides like Cedar Point does
@@SteelersGalXSora nah I think kingda ka is safer
Alex H do you think kingda ka is a great and ride and worth a trip?
@@askjones10 Yeah its a great ride! The other rides at SFGA make the trip worth it as well (El Toro and Nitro).
@@alexh9279 El toro and nitro are the best coasters at great adventure. Just there last week
@@Keyatonenews981 what about Kingda Ka?
Unknown Warrior after you’ve rode dragster and kingda ka many times kingda ka kinda gets boring and I think el toro’s crazy airtime makes it the best ride the (imo).
Kingda ka did have a view point at once, it was closed.
YESSSS, FINALLY!!! Best matchup ever, i've been waiting for so long! Luv ya Coaster Studios! Thanks so much!
When I rode kingda ka it was to bumpy for my ride but top thrill dragster was really smooth and a less bumpy ride and it's the original
Top Thrill
Great point about presentation. I'm taking my 80 year old dad to CP who will not be riding many if any of the coasters, but I know he will get a kick out of seeing the Dragster launch with me in it.
Dragster because it is the original. NOTHING beats the original.
went on dragster for the first time today I was about to pee my pants I was terrified, but now it is one of my favorite rides!! so glad I went on it! :)
Kingda Ka was originally going to be designed with two drops at the end.
Darryl Ellis yep
Where?
Source?
If there was a scary catagory,
The point goes to kingda ka because you don’t know when it’s gonna launch unlike TTD
Rest In Peace TTD
I predict top thrill dragster
WOOHOO
I ALREADY KNEW TOP THRILL WAS GONNA WIN
Godspeed Productions Kingda Ka is better than that crap
GamerPro 75 have you ever ridden top thrill dragster cause if you did you would know that, that ride is smoother
Godspeed Productions I've seen top thrill dragster stuck at the top not kingda ka
Dragster! Dragster! Dragster!
I've ridden both and personally, I like Kingda Ka better even tho cedar point is my home park. the airtime hill makes the ride a little more better than TTD.
Thank you for not being obnoxious like some other people here who like kingda ka better
But....The Dragster has more airtime?
@@Idkwhattoput-p2s ITS CALLED A DAMN OPINION K STOP COMMENTING ON EVERYONE SAYING THAT KINGDA KA HAS MORE AIRTIME
@@michaelmariscal775 I said that Dragster has more airtime, dum-dum.
Mark Jefferson what do you mean by “dum-dum”? He said that he has ridden both and he said he personally likes kingda ka better. I know you said it has more airtime but that’s just one element. He likes kingda ka because it has many elements
To me the restraints alone make dragster the better ride. The lap bar just makes the ride feel so much more exhilarating.
YEAH DRAGSTER TAKIN HOME THAT W
KingDa ka is easily better. KingDa ka actually makes you scared, while dragster feels basic. Plus, the hill at the end of KingDa Ka really is better, and the safety restraint is New Jersey State Law, not the parks choice.
Your opinion lmao
It's about time Top Thrill Dragster won. Now those King da ka fanboys (who haven't even ridden both) can't stop saying their coaster is better.
Six Flags Great Adventure is my home park, and I completely have to agree with TTD winning.
Brian Smith well even cp fan boys would say Ttd is better than kinda ka witch it is but they don't have a right to say it
Daniel P wait if you're saying that you where on it when it rolled back then you are damn lucky Sir
So what you're basically saying is that since one person thinks it's better that means it's obviously better?
Top Thrill is the better ride. I've been on both and Top Thrill is much smoother, but I do like Kingda Ka as well despite it being somewhat rough. I mainly went there for El Toro :)
Top thrill dragster is the one I prefer to ride
They were made by the same company
Cedar point is the park that I always go to so I’m glad the dragster won!!!
I have only ever been on Kingda Ka
However the restraints do suck
Static Shock 2000 yea but i feel more safer with them
Amy Sicilia *more safe or safer
Amy Sicilia that’s why they suck
Top thrill dragster deserved to win
I am going in both of them this week can't wait
Your rating system is not good. Your saying theming is as important as intensity and the ride quality? Makes no sense
He wishes he were European, but he can't be. One of his home parks is Busch Gardens Williamsburg.
Psychology has a lot more to do with coasters than you realize pal
Jonny Glessner I agree theming is important, but not all components are of equal value. For example when judging a movie, you would not say Story is as important as setting.
Theming actually gives a lot more depth to a ride.
he didn't even give kinda ka a good rating on themeing just because he didn't understand it. It is in the golden kingdom section of the park which is all African safari themed ank the thame of the rollercoaster is based off a legend with a snake in Africa and it is themed good for the part of the park that it is in.
Alright I so glad +CoasterStudios uploaded this! I have been waiting for this certain coaster fight for a while and I am glad it is finally here!!
Top Thrill Dragster is the best thing to ride at cedar point
I haven't rode either but I would want to ride top thrill because
1) lap bar
2) the park looks more thrilling
Yes!!! Cedar Point is the rollercoaster capital
dragster is original and six flags copied.
they didn't copy nessaserily, intamin who made TTD) wanted to put one in a six flags park and six flags told them to put it in Great Adventure
They all basically copied xcelarator at knotts berry farm it was the first of its kind.
+Zombiegamer no that ride is so diff
+jmiller .221 dont tell me what to do
and with the bleachers..... its is soooo loud its funny because whenever someone like takes a pic near it, they get scared to death😂
Top Thrill Dragster
I like how he didn't even mention Dragster's downtime. Sure, Ka does indeed have downtime, but Dragster breaks down like every hour.
Dragster is BUTTER smooth
Not exactly. It is pretty smooth but the back row has a rattle. Around the same as millennium's back row rattle.
+Rollercoaster skier (dragsterguy21) its more of a vibrate. Its barely noticeable, but its there
go to Kingda Ka if you care about speed and height go to Top Thrill Dragster if you care about theming and watch. also Kingda Ka opened with a observation area but then closed of fear something would fly off the ride also thats why kingda ka line changed. It feel like Top Thrill Dragster know something or two about thing flying off the ride
Kingda Ka used to have a viewing area.
Where???
its the pathway leading up to the station. the original queue started at the arch entrance and went under the launch track. it was roped off after the 2005 malfunction for safety reasons, so the park had to reconfigure and had to use the viewing area.
I couldn't ride TTD because of a windy Day,,,,,,the launch on maverick made up for it I guess why have rides if they can't Run???????????
You think it won't be needed because of a windy day? That's like saying "Why have a mcdonalds if it's gonna get demolished one day??????"
You can hear the air breaks release
I’ve ridden both, Kingda Ka is more intense while TTD is smooth. I prefer Kingda ka though
Vortex (Kings Island) vs Viper (Six Flags Magic Mountain)
Dragster is better in my opinion, I think that king da ka is a coastster with more elements but top thrill has smoother layouts due to that
I’ve tried both and in my opinion I love the dragster so much better it’s so much better because it’s so much more fun and it’s so fun in the front row day or night and I feel much more safe on the top thrill dragster cedar point is way way way way way way way better then six flags.
What rides that go upside down dont include OTSR? Dragster nor KK go upside down.
+Brad Williams Dare devil dive is one.
Not many manufacturers have figured out how to make a ride that goes upside down without an OTSR for rider safety.
My point exactly.
In my opinion Kingda Ka Is Much Better and also you can see people riding Kingda Ka without being in line
kingda ka is way better than top thrill dragster
No you cant
I have been on both rides a numerous amount of times and I think that Top Thrill Dragster is way more satisfying than Kingda Ka because of the restraints and smoothness of the ride.
I have to say I like Kingda Ka better because on top thrill dragster you only have lap bars and on Kingda Ka you can't tell when you will Lauch and it is a total surprise and did I mention Kingda Ka never got stuck at the top. Kingda Ka for me wins
Dude the dragster is good because you don't feel safe and you do no when you lanch on the dragster.
2. Go through the line at zoomanjaro
kingda ka
This is kinda biased for me, because CP is my home park, but I agree with the results, dragster is more intense cause of the lap bars, and kingda ka's launch hurts
