- Hey People! Thanks so much for hanging out with me while I clean and organize my Pantry! My Food pantry was the worst. everything was just jammed in there no rhyme or reason. It needed a nice little re-boot so I'm happy to have your company while I clean and organize it!

FYI: If you can store breads in an extremely dark area, (no light, no sun!), it will last a LOT longer, because it won’t grow bread mold as fast.
That’s why bread boxes were invented long before 1900!
The seasonings stored in the fridge will absorb MORE moisture there than on shelves.
The honey is okay. It's just crystallized because of the heat. Honey doesn't expire. If it has an expiration date than it's just the bottle. You can heat it, and that will liqify the honey. I recommend putting it in a glass jar.

I feel this is the most realistic pantry transformation I've seen in ages.
I had a pantry like that years ago and I hated it. I switched it up and put my pot , pans etc in it and put the food in the cabinets and quit buying so much to just buy it and having it sitting around in my way.
Just so everyone can save $$$$, when you make hot cocoa just add a splash of French vanilla creamer and it's the same thing. I've been doing it for years and it's delicious!
Loved this video! You cracked me up putting the cake mix behind the quinoa! 😆 and expiration dates are kind of flexible if you just use your sense of smell and sight to see if it's truly gone bad. This video was totally worth the wait! 😊
The last time I cleaned out my pantry I found SIX containers of cinnamon. I don’t really even bake. 4 of them had clearance tags from Target and one I’m pretty sure was from my wedding shower...14 years ago. Whyyyyyy??

I add French vanilla coffee creamer to my hot chocolate!! It’s my “secret ingredient”, and my kids love it!!

Most unopened non perishables are good for six months past the best by or sell by date. Got this info from the Food Bank of Northern NV website. After that some foods may change color texture or even lower nutritional count but won't harm most healthy adults.

For my canned goods, I took one of my wire racks and flipped it upside down. I can store my cans on their sides and the lip if the wire rack, prevents them from rolling off. Spaghetti, principles and others can be stacked on top of one another as well!

I live in Florida too and sometimes I use our hot chocolate as an iced drink or in milkshakes for the kids.

You did real good! I have been or a organisational stint here lately. Took a few days off from wo rk to get back to school stuff and I had plenty of projects to do in my house. I have probably 80% done. Just th e finishing touches to get done. I am finding that onece I start a project there tend to be multiple ones to do. Lol

I played all your old vids when I was cleaning out my pantry last week -- I found things expired in 2012-2014... we only moved into this house in 2017, so I guess those items made the drive with us!

I cleaned out my cabinets yesterday and found expired canned goods and rusty cans. Threw that stuff away.

We have a Fire Extinguisher under our kitchen sink. Guess the logic is for a kitchen fire? I agree having one in the bedroom would be good too so you can 'escape' We had a house in our neighborhood burn down in February.
We have the extinguisher in thr kitchen too -- i think thr logic being that a fire might start in the kitchen???🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️😂

I feel like this will save you money as well. Because now you know what you have. I found so much stuff I always buy because I can never find things. The amount of spaghetti sauce and seasoning packets for various things I found is ridiculous. I'm just going to make my own taco seasoning now.

Do you like having everything in containers? I think it would drive me nuts! The only container we have is one for school snacks for the kids but I don't feel like ours gets terribly unorganized. We meal plan so we don't end up with many extras. I used to hoard hot chocolate mix. I love hot chocolate so much but I haven't had it in so long now! Also, don't freak about expiration dates, stuff is good way past the date, it just might not be in top form anymore. :)
Containers are useful for the kitchen in order to make room for the pantry and cabinet.
I have a tip for those opened bags of chips and snacks! Instead of using chip clips or clothes pins, we use rubber bands!! They hold the bag tight, even if it falls to the floor. I've been doing that for years. You're welcome. :-)

Do you mean “lose”? You don’t want loose bands, they wouldn’t hold the bag closed. I suppose you could double them around bag if they were too loose. If you meant lose, a tip for that is keeping a dish or hook right in the pantry. Hope that helps.

Our fire extinguisher is in our pantry too. That way if your stove is on fire, you can easily get to it!!

I just did this the other day because I was looking for my lease. So I had choice but to take everything out. Sure enough I found it in there.. Not sure why it was in there. But found it and cleaned every kitchen cupboard out. So win I guess right?
Use the can thing in your over stock that I think you said you put in the garage.
Next time you clean your pantry maybe consider donating to a food pantry. I was talking to some customer service people at certain grocery stores ,and they just throw away the food that is returned.

@@karahernandez2687 they could but it's more cost effective to throw it in the garbage so that's what they do. Even the stores that do donate only do a small portion but the majority gets thrown out

Do not move that extinguisher to the bedroom. You definitely need one in the kitchen. Just buy another one for upstairs. Most fires will start in the kitchen. That can thing will fit at the bottom of the pantry.

Any food you return does not get resold it just gets thrown away. Please donate it! I love using bins in my pantry! We also keep our extinguisher in the bottom of the pantry in case of a fire in the kitchen. Love your purging videos!
