Just bottled it. So, by Super Bowl Sunday I’ll let you know how it taste. I’m excited

Hope it turns out well! I’ve been pretty happy with how my ciders have been turning out.

Hi Dan! Great cider video, its funny how well apples pair with other flavors! We have not yet been patient enough to wait a few months for those flavors to POP! Sounds like we need bigger batches haha

You just need to make batches fast enough that you forget you have them. 😂

I love your videos. I have 4 gallons of cider in various stages of completion. Did you sanitize the mesh bag? It seemed dry.

I should have, but I did not. Sometimes I take unnecessary risks, but I haven’t had any bad batches yet.

So, I was able to crack one open yesterday. It had a nice blood orange color. Everything was good. However, it was just a bit dry. Maybe I should’ve added 2 cups of apple juice instead of 1 cup? Or maybe use next time the yeast you preferred.

This recipe will always turn up dry. That’s because the extra juice will all ferment to produce carbonation. Any extra juice will just create more carbonation. You can however add more flavors, like ginger, but any more sugar will just equal more carbonation.

The most straightforward way to carbonate and sweeten would be to keg carbonate it after stabilizing and sweetening. There are other “tricks” out there, but I haven’t tested them.

Today is the day when I check my gravity reading. It’s been 2 weeks. However, I was disappointed that my level is reading at 1.030. I was hoping to reach 1.000. I have no idea if I should let it sit for another week? Or do I add more yeast? I did use a different type of yeast. Could that be my problem?

I would move it to a slightly warmer part of you home and give it another week. If there’s still no movement, add some more yeast. All yeast should be able to handle this cider. Sometimes it just stalls out. Definitely check the smell to make sure there’s nothing else going on.
