The latest update to the Asics Trabuco Max is a NICE, clean update the improves upon an increasingly fun platform for trail races of all distances. I'm pretty stoked on these, despite their stiffness and thiccccness. What are YOUR thoughts?

Honestly, really enjoying the dense and responsive Trabuco Max for the long training runs - bit of a surprise! What do you think?
250 miles in my 2's..... Pretty much the same shoe as V3. 320 grams in a size 9 UK but have a good rocker so has a good flow to it. Used on some seriously wet trails and the ASICS grip is a bit special. Next level grip. Can run on road but not the best
Stuck between the Trabuco max 3 and the New Balance fresh foam x trail more v3... Any recommendations on which one and why?
I got the max 2’s last year and was BLOWN away by the grip … I’ve run in almost every shoe company possible and the ASICS grip is insaaaane!!
totally agree with this. it s probably the best grip for anything. so sticky and rugged
I have the Trabuco 11 and also surprised by the grip. Probably the best in-house rubber material, comparable even to La Sportiva's
Yup. Works on wet too for sure. If this was on a Nike, he would be going wild about it.
I actually kept cutting my leg on the inside when I would hit it with other foot outsole in version 1.
Please review the Tomir 2.0!
I weight 105kg with wide feet and not really the target market for running shoes brands but these shoes are amazing. If you read this and are riding the fence, buy buy buy!
Great review Ethan, thank you. I have loved the ASICS T-Max2 for 300+ trail miles; however, I notice that I catch my toes on rocks/roots more in theT- Max2 than my other shoes. Maybe it is the big stack or maybe an occasional lazy gait. You are correct about this colorway being boring/blah. I'm also a ginger runner, I like a colorful shoe and will wait before buying the Max3 to see what other colors ASICS offers.
THAT is definitely something to be aware of in all the max stack trail shoes!!!
I've been running in the Trabuco 11. Got my usual size but found doing anything technical that my foot moved inside too much and couldn't lock them down. Also looking at the Asics website people are putting that the shoe runs big, Im going to try the 12 and see how my usual size is and try a half size down.
I have 100k on my Trabuco Max 3 and it's the best trail shoe I ever had. Blows any Hoka out of the water. Chiefly because of the midsole and the outsole, lots of bounce and comfort.
Did u go true to size ? I am hearing mixed things on the size
@@DustinHallUltraRunner no, I sized one up. I'm 43 on Nike and I got 44 for Asics (EU size)
That colour-way is pretty cool. Not that it'll stay clean long, but it's a million times better than any of the bright Hokas
If you're a fan of the Trabuco Max, I definitely recommend checking out the Fuji Lite 4. It is a really fun shoe!
I bet the look of that orange Hoka Mafate 4 you reviewed is actually looking pretty exciting now compared to a colorway like this.
Haha, true!
Thanks Ethan! I'm looking for a cushioned trail cruiser at the moment, and have been bouncing around between a new pair of SG5, Xodus Ultra 2, or the Trabuco Max 2. Still undecided 😅
Compared to Saucony Xodus ?
What's the difference between this and the Gel trabuco 11?
Does it give you any asics superblast vibes (but for the trail)? that road shoe is the best ive owned. Can be a little hard initially but after 50 miles or so it opens up and is epic.
I want to know this as well. Super last is the only shoe I can run long distance in without aches and pains
ótimo tênis, comprei um esses dias por um 700 no ML, compensou
I purchased the Trabuco max3 two months ago in this same colour! I have had so many people openly tell me that they love the colour! I also love the colour...... furthermore, the comfort is mind-blowingly wonderful. Grip is also fantastic. I cannot recommend them highly enough...don't hesitate, buy!
Does anyone know if u can use these for hiking?
Better than Brooks Caldera 7 ?
Dickinson Parkways
I will be curious when or if you review the newer Norda brand, particularly the Norda 002. I enjoy the Asics trail shoes and appreciate the grip and long-lasting reliability.
Love my Norda
@@ADyess086 Overall..my fav als0 but Speedgoats come in handy in a pinch.
Caldera 7 please
I like the look of them actually
for 100 mile what you think about it? im thinking half size up because i have Max2 and is a litle bit narrow in toebox.
What is the name of the Salomon shoe you were comparing this to ? + in terms of design and outsole i don't see any impovmments visually from the MAX2 to MAX 3.
@gingerrunner.. I was wondering what you would recommend for a good road running shoe as an everyday runner. I dont do races or compete but i do run a lot .. i have to say I am a Nike guy bc they have always fit me perfectly. But i just got the newest Infinity Run 4 and although it’s fairly comfortable it’s a flat shoe and isn’t that exciting. What would you recommend for an everyday running shoe that how POP and SNAP and is less boring. Thanks
I'll probably use these for Road Running.. i go thru road shoes every month.
A great upgrade.
Put some serious miles in v2. The v3 upgrade is on the upper - the lockdown is better, the collar is a more confident fit - the tongue doesn't go wandering and you can feel that it's lighter. You are running in a tank of a shoe so on technical stuff it can feel a little like being on stilts. But I love it and so do my legs after a long day on the trails.
Great review as always 👍 Wouldn't you want the torsional stiffness for stability when moving laterly forward? Like moving sideways as you traverse some roots / rocks?
Great review. Did you find that there was any more big toe to vs ver 2? The 2s grind the outside of my big toe. I love the light color for warm sun.
Asics have been showing up in the trail world for the last 12-18m. The Trabuco Max 2 and Trabuco 11 are both great shoes, this one looks great too and I love that colourway!!
Can you test some Arcteryx Norvan lds? Curious on your opinion!
This color beats the hell out of the other option on their site. YIKES
Bizim burda 300$ cıvarı
switch from speedgoats to asics trabuco..max 2 was the best ever...got the 3 too in time for my bday....🥰🥰🥰one happy trail junkie here
Could you elaborate on what is better with Trabuco Tmax 2 over (what I assume is) Speedgoat 5?
I had the Speedgoat 4, perfect fit great grip, got the 5, so-so fit and great grip. Just got the Speedgoat 6 and been on a few runs, and they seem the perfect mix of 4 and 5. Great fit, great grip, for now (2 runs, 20 km).
Can I use this shoe in my gym
On the treadmill
@@adityaarora7691no they are trail shoes. It will destroy the treadmill. Buy nimbus or clumlus.
True to size ?
Love the 3s! I replaced my Altra Olympus 5s with these and ran a 33K right out of the box on very rocky jagged AZ terrain and they felt great all 20 miles. I use the Topo Pursuit for anything under 10 miles and save my trabuco max 3s for anything over 10 - toe box is wide and the cushion is great - too me it is not too firm - it is a very nice mix of soft and bouncy - more on the bouncy side. Very happy with them except not a big fan of the plain tan but it does blend into the AZ landscape
What you say on Olympus? I am using now Altra Outroads 2, they are comfortable zero drop, BUT really unstable.
The Olympus is crazy stable, but has some serious durability issues
One of the best reviews on YT!
"The new normal..." how I hate that term.
I’m glad you referenced the Hoka in comparison… I used to love asics but I think I would be very nervous to ditch my speedgoats for this one 🤷♀️
You could ditch your SG5’s for a 2x4 and be happier.
I've got both, and for grip in light slippery mud, especially on a climb or descent, these absolutely kill the Hoka Slipgoat!!! Plus they are more cushioned (if you like that!) They still slip in deep mud but are still very very comfy on roads too.
@@rschreck876 This is a fact.
@@rschreck876Whats a 4x2?
@@bev9708slipgoat? Really? I don‘t find them that bad - the Vibram Megagrip is awesome!
Anyway I have Asics Fuji lite 4 at home to try atm and am interested in the T-Max 2&3 for my knees but am afraid of roots and steep wet full speed downhills because of the stack height.
Just too firm for me for max height shoe. Give me Zegama or NB more foam Trail where my legs get relief. I’d rather opt for lower to ground option that’s lighter if i want firmer ride. I do love the color. In dry CO all my shoes default to this color. Plus you can step out in some flashier socks in shoes like this and not look like a total kook.
The colors on trail shoes are really bad recently. Brooks being the worst.
Your color grading makes shoes look waaaaaay better than in person. 😉 And the Ginger is getting old. I see that gray.
My reference point is the Speedgoat, watching this review i concluded that the asics is not better.
what about the toe box? is it good for wide?
Yes, I am used to Altra and bought the Trabuco max 3 and it is plenty wide - did a 33K and had no issues at all. great shoe
@@jg4894is it broad as the Altra? Not volume wise but wide? And did you get the same size as Altra? I have the Mont Blanc Carbon and Timp 5 but I feel that their foam is too firm especially for those long days (40km plus)
