    Great Video!!! Once again you drop the mic! You video's discribe the underling beautiful vision of Bassboss - Live music production doesnt have to be rocket science if you trust the basic information. The Bassboss Team are the Ghost Busters in the music industry. You keep pulling the curtin back on OZ for us to see that the industry isnt what its all cracked up to be. You all keep it simple and pure - The only thing that matters is what people hear and feel. Thats it! How you get there is a matter of simple science where you dont need a degree to figure out. Unless youre incharge of an 100k person concert at Dodger Stadium - then of course theres a ton more to the equation. But even then, the Bassboss science can still apply.

    Great video! It always makes me laugh to hear people talking about their 1000 watt, 5000 watt, 10,000 watt speaker, it's a lot like hearing them brag about how bad the gas millage their car gets. They don't realize those numbers don't mean anything about how much output their speaker is capable of. If you want to talk about output, talk about volume displacement capability, not power consumption. The less power it takes to get that displacement, the better!

    great ending, I remember Crown used to you give Min power warranty specs. not like now days that give you blown up number under perfect lab conditions... Yeah watts its only a number just like horse power on a car. good to know to have it but dont used it. all.

    Thanks for explaining this in detail... I will admit that wattage is the first thing I look for in specs, although it's usually "Peak" measured with white noise for a short time. I also check the SPL specs, as you mentioned, but I think most brands measure SPL the same way to make specs look good on paper for consumers. Still, this is good knowledge to know! I really want a pair of 21" subs to test! Great video!!

      If I'm buying an amplifier I look at watts - a speaker, a lot of things - SPL curve, sensitivity, point at which a cabinet unloads, displacement limit of power handling, dispersion at different frequencies, distortion but also an ear test to hear if I like the way it sounds or can I EQ it to something I like?

    I used to work in the car audio industry and am really in to home audio. I used to laugh at customers who wanted a 1k subwoofer system in their car - my question was always check out your mums hairdryer and see how many watts that produces - 1.5k not very loud eh? Do you want to trust me to give you what you need rather than what you think you want? Worked every time 😂😂😂😂

    Therefore the combination of the class of amplifiers and the speaker design is the key ?

    • @MotorHolmes
      @MotorHolmes 3 місяці тому

      Yes. Well designed systems are exactly what you’re wanting to buy to maximize SPL per watt.
      But I think the overarching message was that SPL increases being consistent with signal level increases is key (which cannot always be indicated with an increase in watts)
      And delivering the desired SPL level with fewer watts is great. As higher watts that don’t make better, consistent SPL levels is just inefficient.

    If watts isn’t really that important then why even put a watts rating on any of your products? Try selling your speakers without a watts listing in the specs. Of course a watts rating is important especially to a consumer when one is comparing to what’s available on the market. The continuous output or RMS rating is what consumers want to compare when given the actual specs and not mislead like some company’s.

      Customers ask about watts first, but there are more to speakers than that one specification (and if we didn't list our watt ratings, that is all people would ask about). We believe the more efficient the speaker the better.
