Depending on how yours is constructed, mine is metal on metal for example. If it's really stuck and won't move, you can try a little WD-40, you need to wipe it off really well after using it though, because WD-40 is a degreaser not a lubricant. After wiping it off really well you can use just a tiny bit of silicone lubricant. Be sure to wipe that off good too, you don't want to leave much of it on so you don't need to worry about anything dripping on your food. You just don't want to leave WD-40 there, you want to replace it with an actual lubricant, because leaving WD-40 can cause issues later.

Just fire up the grill... The heat will warm the gunk/grease and will move freely.
