She was the prototype they had her gain 400 attack when she was placed on the field so she hit the highest attack of any level 4 monster in the series without restriction for a few seasons
They also didn't say anything about them being viable in Duel Links. Which, you're right, they aren't as a whole. Some see a little use here and there but not as a whole. Pretty much like this vid describes them.
To tell you the truth I think I found the most horrifying, combo I can Yu-Gi-Oh guess what it's a Gemini. Try this one out "relay soul" and "duckdummy". Duck dummy was designed I think to give to my opponent with grass Chopper on my side of the field. But it's better on my side
I have an actual copy of the first erratum of Darkstorm Dragon. I haven’t been collecting cards in a long time, so it’s my only Gemini Monster. It’s also my only level 8 monster that is treated as a normal monster, so it could at least work with my copy of Thunder End Dragon that a friend gave me. Thing is it needs 2 of those, and therefore is quite cost intensive; going -6 or more in card advantage for a card with a Dark Hole (sans itself) effect that you can only do twice, unless you have a way to add XYZ materials to it. That does lead me to ask, though, what is the better effect to have, if you had to choose one: Dark Hole, or Heavy Storm?
Oooh... this will be a series I see!, from what I have seen union's and flips have actually gotten MUCH better so perhaps Spirits should be next?, considering just like Gemini's they were supposed to have these powerful effects with a gimmicky cost (looking at Yata lock).
Andre Stewart I would love to have spirits get new stuff. They tried with the new pendulums but you can't special spirits... If they just had the effect of something ignoring spirits summon restriction they would have been great.
well, if konami would give them better support and a ritual spell that can cycle itself out, shinobirds would actually be a good spirit deck. the only issue with the deck however is the fact it burns itself out after three ritual summons which isn't good. fingers crossed they get a little more support.
"Obligatory reminder that Shinobirds aren't an archetype" Yeah, but seriously though, I'd love if they actually made Shinobirds into a real archetype and gave them more support. They need another ritual spell, another ritual monster would be cute, and maybe main deck support that doesn't feel unnecessary? Then again, the whole set of cards feels more like a hybrid between generic Spirit and Mist Valley support. :P
"Superalloy Beast Raptinus" wasn't bad...for its time...it would have been way worse if it would have asked for Gemini-Effect Monsters as material. The problem is, that it would have only worked in a dedicated deck and the early ones had no consistency and the support cards were wonky at best.
As someone who likes Red-eyes, the gemini effects are not worth it because of how it requires a normal summon (keep in mind that this would clash with Red-eyes Fusion). I think a field spell that was akin to mosseleum of white, would be good.
I always wanted Gemini monsters to be good, because I saw a potential there, and actually liked some of the cards. I really hope that Konami adds some support via link monsters or some new specifically Gemini support cards.
It's gonna take a lot more than a link monster to make Gemini's viable. They already have a generic fusion that makes all of their effects live, so that idea isn't really necessary. Gemini's also don't really swarm, so it'd be hard to make the most of a Link monster, especially considering their exclusive extra deck options aren't that great either. So I guess it'd be best just to hope that more Chemicritter-esque support cards are released to try and lend a helping hand. That being said, I'd rather not have another case of ABC, where Unions were 'revived' by bypassing everything that made Unions unique and just trying to throw down a Dragon Buster and whatever other Extra Deck monsters you could make.
Here's the kind of stuff Geminis need: Gemini Teleport Special Summon 1 level 2 or lower Gemini monster from your Deck; it gains its effects, also it cannot be targeted by an opponent's card effect. If you control 2 or more Gemini Monsters, you can summon a level 8 monster instead. *Can get Carbon Crab out of the deck right away, or something like Gemini Soldier... This effect isn't rocket science and konami has pulled it many times (Emergency Teleport, Onslaught of the Fire Kings, Rokket's Quick Launch, etc.) See? There are many ways they could help Geminis out... Konami just has to ACTUALLY TRY doing so.
Never been Gemini Summoned? Haha, you've obviously have never seen auto-duel AI on Duel links Gemini Summon Alius instead of summoning one of the 3 or 4 other monsters in my hand.
Hanmacx but then you read dragon spirit of white and you're questioning why they did this in the first place xD. Imagine if flare dragon wasnt gemini but still treated as a normal monster. Coulda given a better boost to red eyes
@@Kylora2112 I like red eyes archfiend which has a raigeki effect when Gemini summoned that can be activated once per turn. Only downside is you can't destroy face down monsters so it's close to the raigeki effect. I also like red eyes flare dragon as well but red eyes archfiend has a slightly stronger Gemini effect then 2400 burn damage at the end of the battle phase. Both are good though 😁
I remember how 1 copy of crusader of endymion was played as an extra neos alius just because it has everything of value alius has aside of the name Also you forgot to mention how honest was ran in this deck too at some point. But thats ok.
yeah bro and triple Thunder-King Rai-oh, who was godlike by himself, but he was also a level 4 light type. I also ran a Cyber Dragon because machines were a thing back then. Also stratos...
This was super cool. I was not too familiar with geminis, they were already out of fashion when I came back to the game, but this gave me some ideas for some...interesting decks...
Someone must have been really high to introduce geminis into the game, let alone ones with effects that are horrible and expect people to summon them twice to get them off
They were introduced in a time when synchro, xys & so on didn't exist and each pack had around 60% cards with bad stats and either no effect or a horrible one. Pretty much every second new pack introduced a gimmick that could have been good if it was well thought out but pretty much none were and archetypes were just starting to form.
Gigaplant/Ill bud remains as the only legit great gemini desings, where the gemini part is used elegantly to balance the cards that would be absolutely busted for theirs time as normal once per turn cards.
I do love using Skelesaurus in Duel Links when I play a Zombie deck. While it's Gemini effect turns it back into a EARTH Dinosaur-Type (which I love lore wise just because of the concept of a dinosaur skeleton coming back to life), it does steal opponent's monsters which you can then use as Tribute fodder (which is still relevant in Duel Links). Also, it's great with the Field Spell "Wasteland" because it doesn't matter if it's either a Zombie or a Dinosaur, it still keeps the +200 ATK. Again, in the context of Duel Links, a 1900 ATK beater (when using Wasteland) that steals monsters is pretty decent. Plus, since it turns anything it steals into a Zombie, Wasteland powers up whatever you steal and the original Type won't mess up your strategy, like a built in mini-Zombie World.
i used to run a gemini deck semi competitively during the xyzs era and they can be pretty good if your willing to give them the time the big thing is you either have to give them support or use them to give support the card DOUBLE SUMMON does work for gemini summoning ( which makes me wonder why they made super double summon) and using monsters like MARAUDING CAPTAIN and GIANT RAT are both super useful in getting them onto the feild (as well as using two marauding captains to temporarily lock the field while you gemini summon). BLAZEWING BUTTERFLY, while not the best card can be useful if special summoned first, so you dont waste a normal summon, and can act as a decent monster reborn for your geminis. I also find that GEMINI SUMMONER is a useful card, its not a gemini monster but for the cost of 500 LP you can summon one from your hand or give a monster on the feild their effect. you got 8000LP might as well use them. and finally GEMINI SOLDIER is a card that once a turn isnt destroyed, and lets you special summon geminis form your deck every time its in battle. There are also other cards that give geminis their effects or help summon them (like the fusion monster) but the ones i mentioned are the best for it a lot of the gemini monsters are pretty bad, but quite a few of them are decently good GOGGLE GOLEM is a 4 star monster that gets 2100 ATK with its effect without a negitive (it can be summoned with giant rat) ANCIENT GEAR KNIGHT can attack without activating trap cards, and with 1800 ATK its not to shabby FUTURE SAMURAI lets you banish a monster in your GY to destroy any monster on the field which can be great especally as a D.D. support Skelesaurus is a good way to build up early defence in a game by letting you steal monsters it destroys, and makes for an amazing zombie support card DARK VALKYRIA is in my opinion the best low level gemini, gaining 300 ATK for every spell counter on it. (you get 1 when you gemini summon it) and removing a spell counter lets you destroy a monster on the feild, if you have cards producing spell counters, this card becomes a monster on the feild. recomended use with CRUCADER OF ENDYMION RED EYES BLACK FLAIR DRAGON is an ok card that does its ATK as damage to your opponent if it was in battle that turn PHOENIX GEARFREID and KNIGHT DAY GREPHER make an amazing combo together letting you cycle equip cards in and out of the graveyard to negate spell cards DARKSTORM DRAGON is ok, clearing the feild of spell and trap cards, but i find it to be too situational because of geminis need of them im not sure about chem critters as i havent used them, but i find that the geminis that are used to support specific architypes that arnt gemini tend to be pretty bad GEMINI BOOSTER and GEMINI TRAP HOLE are decent cards for them as the architype gives you enough ways to bring back gemini monsters from the GY like i said i used them to and ok success (roughly 80% win rate for my gemini/gardna deck) at local tournaments, but this was befor pendulum summoning, so im not sure how they would fare nowadays.
I thought red-eyes archfiend was a good Gemini monster. I even use it competitively here and there. But I can see what you mean by the Gemini cards being usually bad.
Forgotten about Raptinus, did you? Gemini had some sick plays with Superpolymerisation (can be substituted with Flash Fusion), De-Fusion and Future Fusion. Add Tuned Magician and Supervise to that which came out later and gave access to pretty much all Level 6 - 10 Synchromonster that didn't need a specific tuner or were Accel Synchro and above that. If Konami ever decides to give them some Linkmonster support the deck will be playable with all these combos again.
I remember running dark valkyrie in my fairy deck. So it was basically vahalla to special, gemini summon, pop a monster on field, direct attack. Though that effect isn't very useful lately due to all the destruction protection.
Hanmacx that and you can add azure-eyes since it bring back normal monster during each of your standby phase so it’s like a return of the red eyes especially for red-eyes black flare which is a Gemini and I don’t know why he didn’t mention it it has a nice burn effect whenever it battle regardless if the monster survive or if your opponent didn’t get deal with battle damage
Hanmacx yeah but with return of the dragon lord as well as having a nice body it shouldn’t be that bad of a deal breaker. Equip it with metal dragon and it a 3k beater that burns for 2400
Konami should've just made the Red-Eyes Geminis be Effect Monsters that say "This card is a Normal Monster except on the Field" sort of like Spirit of White. That would have made them so much better.
I think the reason there were all of these weird restrictions was an example of future proofing. Perhaps over compensating, but still a sound concept. For example, I saw in on of your structure deck reviews there was a card that brought one equip spell from the grave, but it could not be used for the rest of that turn. Say it did not have the downside, but then later they added an equip card that only had it's effect if it had been in the graveyard at one point. Then, a card that could pull it from the graveyard and immediately play it could be over powered. This isnt meant to be a criticism of your video, i just really enjoy the concept of future proofing and i like your videos! Keep up the awesome work!
I played a neo-spacian deck for a while. I used Neos Alius because it turns out that protecting him for a turn and re-normal summoning him can sometimes be easier than summoning the regular neos. But the deck was bad though.
Way they could fix it is make it so the 2nd effect activates when 1 gemini monsyor is on the feild also change some the weaker ones to special summon from the hand to get the combo going
You don't have to summon it for it to get its effect. It's just an effect monster that's treated as a normal monster in the hand and graveyard only. Gemini monsters are always treated as normal monsters until they're normal summoned from the field (unless another card's effect says otherwise).
There’s only one way to fix Gemini monsters: 1) Make it so that they’re always treated as Normal and Effect monsters in the hand, deck, and GY 2) Make it so they can be summoned as normal or effect monsters or make it so that you don’t require an unused normal summon to Gemini summon Those are the only things that’ll make today’s meta not only want to play them, but warrant all the stupid restrictions Konami put on them
I ran a playset of Dark Valkyria because she was an 1800 beater that worked with Dark Creator and Future Fusion. Looking back, she was a pretty big part of the deck, but the only time I'd ever use her effect was after special summoning her from the Graveyard.
Red eyes archfiend of lightning is actually very good. A lot of monsters have low/no defense so a once per turn essentially raigeki is good, the problem is that it’s a red eyes monster
I put a Neos Alius in literally every DL deck I make where I just need a level 4 beatstick, and I for some reason cant get one from whatever archetype I'm using (mostly for moral support tbh), tho I've also been looking into playing a full Gemini deck, because they're not competitive, but they seem actually fun with the support of Chemicritters, which I'm not looking forward to unlocking at how high a level I need to get Bastion to play 'em
The other playable Gemini mons benefit more from other support (dragon, red-eyes, chemicriter) but I feel like “woodland archer” is an excellent card design. Also “super alloy” Playable here meaning synergetic on a casual level.
Well. I feel this is all pretty accurate. I've even tried making a Gemini deck in the past (Before Catalyst) and it didn't function very well, despite the cards to get them on the field quickly and get the effects going. They are very slow, and kinda clunky, and as stated, you can't even use rescue rabbit, or any effects that would nab a normal out of the deck because they aren't considered normal there. If they were, they'd be marginally better, but even then still too slow to be competitive for the most part. Though if you're just building it for a fun duel, with a taste of challenge to get the win in most cases, then yes Gemini can be fun sometimes.
No one ever mentions that these monsters do have a fusion monster i no its not like reallllyyy competitive viable per say but its a decent monster that gives all ur genimis there effect and its easy to summon and u can dragons mirro it out to. There are other support cards to that they have that arnt like super terrible u need to do more research imo but honestly there better than a lot of other archetypes.
A few years back I had a Gemini build that wasn’t terrible it revolved around rank four xyz and level 8 synchcros. It wasn’t bad and I scraped out a few tops at locals. However it flopped after ROTA was re-limited. Gemini Scorpion was a key card
Something they can try are continuous spell and trap cards that gives them their effects while they're in zones close to the monsters. Very similar to how Weathery spells and traps work, but they can give them effects that give thwir users an advantage when they leave the field by an opponent's card effect. They can be part of a gemini arquetype or simply more gemini support.
I like the Red Eye's Black Flare Dragon gemini card, especially in a Red eyes deck since there were ways to get it out through special summons and you could normal summon it the same turn to get the effect.
Crusader of Endymion is a pretty useful Genini monster, when played in the correct deck. I’ve got a dedicated Endymion deck (my Pendulum Magicians) which benefits greatly from it. I just use a Pendulum summon for it, then Normal summon to get a bonus Spell Counter every turn. It’s level 4, 1900 base attack, and hits 2500 attack if you use it’s ability to place a counter somewhere. Pair that with a Defender, who can use counters from ANYWHERE to save any spell caster, along with your two Endymion Pendulums and the Endymion field spell, you’re set for life. Helps my own deck has a crazy number of spells to increase counters as well, a couple Soell caster equip cards for extra defense and/or power, and a good few of the cards let me search the deck for more spells or Pendulum monsters. And can’t forget Magical Blast, which I can place back in hand instead of draw as long as it’s in the graveyard. That combo usually shuts down most other decks sonce they can’t penetrate my defenses without the help of cards like Zombie World
Sorry to break it to you but if you're playing Crusader in an Endymion deck than you're playing the deck wrong. Take it from someone who plays the deck, NOBODY plays that card in Endymion. Edit: Nor do they play Defender.
Big Daddy Endymion Sure works for me! So I won’t say it’s wrong. Crusader is pretty decent, after all, and unless my monsters lose their typing, Defender saves my field from just about everything if I got spell counters. Just because you run the deck and don’t use them doesn’t mean I can’t run them in my own and have them work out well.
Do you think pendulum summoning somewhat helps with them? I mean obviously you could still only activate one effect but I guess it beats waiting two turns for it
I think the only thing that never happened was a card similar to " Heart of the underdog " but for Gemini monsters... it would make their archetype back then and maybe now really good
when the structure deck came out i took 3 of it and almost won my locals with it. came in second to some cyber dragon ftk otk deck. and that was back when locals still embraced the traditional format. - Danger!
I wish for a gemini lycanthrope deck. That involves having beast type 'Wolf' monsters that are gemini along with warriors/ maybe spellcasters to help bring them out or bring out their powerful effects. That it is also a ritual/fusion/ maybe synchro deck that its strategy is to get as many of your gemini wolf monsters on the field or graveyard as much as possible. For your big lycanthrope ritual/fusion/ and maybe synchro to get some extra boost from their effects.
Featherizer to send what ever card you want to the grave yard Gemini summoner to special summon during your openness end phase to normal summon during your main to gain effect. Blazewing with supervise to bring out 2 Gemini monsters sent to the grave special summon Dark wing dragon special summoned via blazewing blows up back line, if equipped with with supervise brings out second high level from Graveyard. I spent 3 months working with them, the trick is graveyard synergy. In no means am I saying they are meta, but they are way more useful than you are saying. I play them because it's fun
I still have most of my gemini cards from an old structure deck. They were my favorites as a kid and later the deck I used for a 5Ds D&D mashup. Later though I found Madolches and never looked back.
Reeeetttt my Skelesaurus got an OTK this one time where I boosted its attack up and killed a 9000 attack monster after switching it to defence mode with a spell then getting Skelesaurus' Gemini Effect off and taking it and OTKing my opponent SCREEEECH
I was thinking about a quick play spell card for gemini: “You can only activate a card with [this card name] once per turn. After this card activates, special summon one level four or lower gemini monster from your deck and one from your graveyard in face up defense position, then, immediately after this card resolves, normal summon a monster. You cannot special summon other monsters during the turn this card is activated except normal monsters.”
What about Crusader of Endymion's ? A level 4 monster with 1900 attack in normal mode and when it's power is active it can give once per turn magic counters to cards that use them, gaining 600 for the rest of the turn making it a great attack/support monster.
Ran a normal dragon deck with Gemini dragons. Not once you mention those cards nor how well they can be played. I use swings of memories to bring a "normal" monster. Aka darkstorm dragon then use my normal summon to resummon negecting swings second effect. This includes birthright and call of the haunted. Along with other normal support aka heat wave which its broken With new spell cards, dragon support. Its great. Also failed to mention about their fusion dragon type. Geminis are great when used right. Though today they might be slow but still could be fun for older players.
Ah! Neos Alius, haven't seen you in a while. Anyways, nice video, but as I played a lot of Geminis, I just want to point out the fact that, Geminis have one of the benefits of normal monsters, and that is, graveyard revival cards. Silent Doom and Swing of Memories really help these decks. Often have I topdecked into a Silent Doom or a Swing of Memories a few years ago to summon a dead Gigaplant in the graveyard, Gemini summon it to use its effect and summon a tuner and go for Scarlight Red Dragon Archfiend and nuke their board. But I must admit that, sadly, Konami patched Unions way better than they did for Geminis by giving them what is essentially a boss monster with the an Overload Fusion way of summoning it, although you don't need any cards in your hand, and effects that were not usually there on unions before in the form of their graveyard effect. Final note: Hopefully Crystron Needlefiber comes out in the TCG soon, because Gigavise can do crazy stuff thanks to it. Last time, I ended my turn one with a Crystal Wing, a Hot Red Dragon Archfiend Abyss and a potential summon of Life Stream Dragon as a last line of defense (since it can protect itself from destruction by banishing equip spells)
You can easily fix the problem of gemini monsters which you talked about having too many "normal" monsters in your deck that requires extra support to work: Pendulum gemini monsters. Give them pendulum effects that allow you to treat targeted/all gemini monsters to gain effects. On top of that, you can given them an easy to summon link monster that further gives you quick access to Raptinus.
I STILL DONT GET IT, loop each turn __________________ Normal monster use normal summon effect monster use effect _____________________ or do it once and its good to go with effects each turn (king pyro lets say) and can i special summon it and then normal summon it?
I don't know much about how Union monsters were, but the few union monsters I had the opportunity to play with were decent to pretty good. If you haven't done a video on Union monsters could you one?
Two combos I've done were Azure Eyes Gemini build and Darkstorm Dragon Supervise to nuke the backrow or pitch Blazewing resurrect with monster reborn then Supervise get two monsters (usually Red Eyes Archfiend or Red Eyes Flare) normal summon the Supervise special summon. Bricky but fun to try
They are definitely not dependable in any capacity, but I've enjoyed using the Red-Eyes Geminis for example as just having an extra option in some situations. And in Duel Links, I have some shenanigans with Tuner Magician, which becomes a tuner when gemini summoned that I like to use. Not a top tier player by any means, but I enjoy Geminis as a fun wild card.
I used to play Geminis after their Structure came out, and it was ok for casual fun play. I think Geminis can become a fun alternative if they release more cards like Catalyst Field and Supervise, and an arquetype that can really make the mechanic good. Red-Eyes and Chemicritters were a good try, but I success in an arquetype similar to what they did with Noble Knights.
I click away every time someone uses Red-Eyes Fusion to fuse Red-Eyes Black Flare Dragon and Red-Eyes Archfiend of Lighting directly from the deck. But a good strategy I found is Red-Eyes Black Flare Dragon equipped with Dragon Shield. Dragon Shield prevents it from being destroyed and neither player takes any battle damage from battles involving the equipped card. However if you activate the gemini effect of the dragon you can inflict 2400 effect damage to your opponent each time that card battles. Combine that with Archfiend Black Skull Dragon and perhaps Red-Eyes Black Flare Metal Dragon and your opponent will have a hard time.
I honestly thought you weren't gonna mention Chemicritters. I'm so glad you did though! I've been playing Geminis for a while and I've come close to making a viable deck. Maybe people can find a way to improve them
Any chance of seeing a "Why Nobody Plays Darkstorm Dragon"? I was surprised to not see that card in this video. It seems like one of those "casual bait" cards with an effect that is clearly powerful on the surface, but cumbersome to actually use, and IIRC Konami did throw it into one of the dragon structure decks.
I do feel the same way about geminis, theres some gemini esc decks the best of which is either Chemicriters or Red Eyes that actually do have good gemini effects (Chemicritter Oxy Ox, Red-Eyes Archfiend of Lightning) but neither deck has the consistency or power to make them relevant Something thats bothered me about Chemicritters since their release actually was their boss monsters being one level/rank too high for Red Eyes cards to be mixed in, were they actually that afraid of seeing gemini decks existing or doing anything.
I love this cards ever since I bought the starter deck when I started playing. I built tons of deck around them, but, at the end of the day, the best one by far ends up being Evocator Chevallier. If there were more equip cards that worked with him like supervise and bamboo swords do, then he would be a real threat even in today's meta. But, yeah, most of them aren't worth the summon. They are usually only worth for their type or stats.
I mostly agree about the usefulness of gemini monsters, but I would like to throw Red-Eyes Flare Dragon and Red-Eyes Archfiend of Lightning as being two more at least semi-useful gemini monsters, especially with all of the Red-Eyes support that can allow them to be special summoned so that the normal summon does not feel as wasted as it does with most other geminis.
Shadow Delver doesn't allow itself to atk directly, it allows ANY lvl4 or lower dark monster to. And with Evil Hero Infernal Gainer and Imprisoned Queen Archfiend both hitting similar criteria in the same era I think I can see why the restriction on his effect was a thing. Also as mentioned the Red-Eyes geminis are pretty ok. Also they had Super Alloy and Brutdrago. Would be nice to see them get a link support tbh.
I used played Red-Eyes when the invasion of vengeance pack came out using catalyst field and red eyes fusion and that black flare dragon got me some nice overkill wins. However it was very casual stuff during high school recess but it was fun nonetheless.
So, my deck is a gemini monster deck, and I have to tell: yes, they are extremely weak, but if used correctly they can be really fun. So, how to play them? Throw your deck in the graveyard. Use normal-monsters support card such as birthright or swing of memories to bring back from the GY blazewing butterfly, then special summon a powerful gemini monsters like phoenix gearfried or chtonian emperor dragon with their effect. It's hard to do and nowadays it will get you nowhere, but there are still some uses
To bring up a point for at least one of them, changing the mode at the very least dewalls and change an opponent monster to have points that are more destroyable. Sure,if the mode was swapped to defense there's no life drain, but that's one less monster if you are the aggressive type. A good strategy can even exploit drawbacks and quirks.
"Why is Gemini Elf not a gemini?"... Someones gotta ask the real questions here
Apoc Sentinel hahaha good question!

They aren’t good in duel links either haha
They are garbage regardless in literally any yugioh game that has them
JuviaxGray Loves Anime World they are great when your only allowed to use normal monsters
Duel Links doesn't even make these work I did splash in some because of the attack power and type not their special effects.

I just remember Il Blud being absurdly expensive upon release when Zombies became relevant back when Card of Safe Return was still legal.
Cimoooooooo I remember selling a damaged il blud for 5$ actually
Cimoooooooo il blud was around $100 and honestly zombies was a strong deck back then with zombie master and card of safe return
Cimoooooo dont comment on your own video
I topped a philly regional with Il blud in my zombie-dad decklist lol, also my favorite gemini probably has to be Gigaplant :}
yeah and gigaplant was an otk deck
been playing geminis in Duel Links, and having a Darkstorm Dragon that acts like a pseudo Heavy Storm feels pretty nice ngl
Pretty sure they understood that even they said "in Duel Links"
sklaveritterify Still isn’t viable in Duel Links
I still remember how much of a pain all those gigaplant loop nonsense were.
hes still good
I mean its still possible but you can play better loops these days
Oooh... this will be a series I see!, from what I have seen union's and flips have actually gotten MUCH better so perhaps Spirits should be next?, considering just like Gemini's they were supposed to have these powerful effects with a gimmicky cost (looking at Yata lock).
Andre Stewart I would love to have spirits get new stuff. They tried with the new pendulums but you can't special spirits... If they just had the effect of something ignoring spirits summon restriction they would have been great.
They made a fun archetype for Spirits; the Shinobirds. But yeah, they could easily make more
well, if konami would give them better support and a ritual spell that can cycle itself out, shinobirds would actually be a good spirit deck. the only issue with the deck however is the fact it burns itself out after three ritual summons which isn't good. fingers crossed they get a little more support.
"Obligatory reminder that Shinobirds aren't an archetype"
Yeah, but seriously though, I'd love if they actually made Shinobirds into a real archetype and gave them more support. They need another ritual spell, another ritual monster would be cute, and maybe main deck support that doesn't feel unnecessary?
Then again, the whole set of cards feels more like a hybrid between generic Spirit and Mist Valley support. :P
but shinobirds ARE an archtype..
You forgot to mention there Fusion Monster that doesn't do anything except changing them into effect monsters

"Superalloy Beast Raptinus" wasn't bad...for its time...it would have been way worse if it would have asked for Gemini-Effect Monsters as material. The problem is, that it would have only worked in a dedicated deck and the early ones had no consistency and the support cards were wonky at best.

@@TheTrueLeafless I guess future fusion would be the most viable way to summon it eventhough it's errata made it worse off
he also forgot their synchro monster
I hadn't ever seen Il Blud till today.
Thanks for showing me the most horrifying piece of artwork ever created
Kill it with burn damage.
Might be cool to see a new "species" of gemini monsters that were considered normal monsters in the deck and hand
The cool thing about this channel is that dzeff talks about stuff other YGO channels dont
i really like cards like Red eyes black flare dragon, and Chithonian Emperor Dragon
KureiSS5 like the anime would say "you still take the burn" with Flare dragons effect
Lol
As someone who likes Red-eyes, the gemini effects are not worth it because of how it requires a normal summon (keep in mind that this would clash with Red-eyes Fusion). I think a field spell that was akin to mosseleum of white, would be good.
i use it in my casual dragon deck, and i can pull off its effect alot thanks to Darkness Metal Dragon or light pulsar
Picky Psychology Student Basically just catalyst field was as close as they ever got
I always wanted Gemini monsters to be good, because I saw a potential there, and actually liked some of the cards. I really hope that Konami adds some support via link monsters or some new specifically Gemini support cards.
don't forget we'll get Structure Deck R for Warrior's Strike at anytime my friend :)
Just change Geminis monsters into something else entirely
At least with unions, they got rid of their old restrictions and they all carry an effect that protects whatever they're equipped to
Here's the kind of stuff Geminis need:
Gemini Teleport
Special Summon 1 level 2 or lower Gemini monster from your Deck; it gains its effects, also it cannot be targeted by an opponent's card effect. If you control 2 or more Gemini Monsters, you can summon a level 8 monster instead.
*Can get Carbon Crab out of the deck right away, or something like Gemini Soldier... This effect isn't rocket science and konami has pulled it many times (Emergency Teleport, Onslaught of the Fire Kings, Rokket's Quick Launch, etc.)
See? There are many ways they could help Geminis out... Konami just has to ACTUALLY TRY doing so.
you forgot to mention Superalloy Beast Raptinus
its a fusion monster its effect is: all Gemini monsters on the field gain their effects.
three future fusion
Never been Gemini Summoned? Haha, you've obviously have never seen auto-duel AI on Duel links Gemini Summon Alius instead of summoning one of the 3 or 4 other monsters in my hand.
i've felt that pain
XD
Artificial “””intelligence””” my @$$.
What are your opinions on the gemini red-eyes effect.... lul
k pou i luv them because Return of the Red-Eyes can return them again and again xD
they're meh lol
Hanmacx but then you read dragon spirit of white and you're questioning why they did this in the first place xD. Imagine if flare dragon wasnt gemini but still treated as a normal monster. Coulda given a better boost to red eyes
Red-Eyes are fun, but outside of Red-Eyes Flare Dragon, they suck.
I remember how 1 copy of crusader of endymion was played as an extra neos alius just because it has everything of value alius has aside of the name
Also you forgot to mention how honest was ran in this deck too at some point. But thats ok.
yeah bro and triple Thunder-King Rai-oh, who was godlike by himself, but he was also a level 4 light type. I also ran a Cyber Dragon because machines were a thing back then. Also stratos...
Sometimes Evocator Chevalier was run in similar decks because you could get it off Rota and it was a fire for Nova Master
Combine him with dark Valkyria and that equip spell supervise. Dominate
Well, at least they made TV shows to make kids fall in love with certain cards in case they turned out to be bad
Gigaplant/Ill bud remains as the only legit great gemini desings, where the gemini part is used elegantly to balance the cards that would be absolutely busted for theirs time as normal once per turn cards.
Of yes
I bet you are going to say, "they are so bad" 3 or more times
Plus, since it turns anything it steals into a Zombie, Wasteland powers up whatever you steal and the original Type won't mess up your strategy, like a built in mini-Zombie World.
i used to run a gemini deck semi competitively during the xyzs era and they can be pretty good if your willing to give them the time
the big thing is you either have to give them support or use them to give support
the card DOUBLE SUMMON does work for gemini summoning ( which makes me wonder why they made super double summon) and using monsters like MARAUDING CAPTAIN and GIANT RAT are both super useful in getting them onto the feild (as well as using two marauding captains to temporarily lock the field while you gemini summon).
There are also other cards that give geminis their effects or help summon them (like the fusion monster) but the ones i mentioned are the best for it
a lot of the gemini monsters are pretty bad, but quite a few of them are decently good
GOGGLE GOLEM is a 4 star monster that gets 2100 ATK with its effect without a negitive (it can be summoned with giant rat)
ANCIENT GEAR KNIGHT can attack without activating trap cards, and with 1800 ATK its not to shabby
FUTURE SAMURAI lets you banish a monster in your GY to destroy any monster on the field which can be great especally as a D.D. support
Skelesaurus is a good way to build up early defence in a game by letting you steal monsters it destroys, and makes for an amazing zombie support card
DARK VALKYRIA is in my opinion the best low level gemini, gaining 300 ATK for every spell counter on it. (you get 1 when you gemini summon it) and removing a spell counter lets you destroy a monster on the feild, if you have cards producing spell counters, this card becomes a monster on the feild. recomended use with CRUCADER OF ENDYMION
RED EYES BLACK FLAIR DRAGON is an ok card that does its ATK as damage to your opponent if it was in battle that turn
PHOENIX GEARFREID and KNIGHT DAY GREPHER make an amazing combo together letting you cycle equip cards in and out of the graveyard to negate spell cards
DARKSTORM DRAGON is ok, clearing the feild of spell and trap cards, but i find it to be too situational because of geminis need of them
im not sure about chem critters as i havent used them, but i find that the geminis that are used to support specific architypes that arnt gemini tend to be pretty bad
GEMINI BOOSTER and GEMINI TRAP HOLE are decent cards for them as the architype gives you enough ways to bring back gemini monsters from the GY
like i said i used them to and ok success (roughly 80% win rate for my gemini/gardna deck) at local tournaments, but this was befor pendulum summoning, so im not sure how they would fare nowadays.
Yanno Gemini monsters could have just had 2 attributes or types like Dinosaur/Warrior instead of the shit we got.
I thought red-eyes archfiend was a good Gemini monster. I even use it competitively here and there. But I can see what you mean by the Gemini cards being usually bad.
You *could* sort of get around it though. Red-Eyes Insight to Graveyard and Return of the Red-Eyes to Field to Normal Summon and blow up the Field. XD
Doubt it.
You forgot to mention their synergy with normal monster support though.
most dont as they are treated as effect monstrer in the hand
@@st619 Well fuck.
6:36 - Wouldnt Shadow Delver work with Skull Servant King?
It would, but Opti-Camouflage Armor does the exact same thing without using up a Normal Summon.
inb4 a farfa abridged video where it explains they are shit because you have normal summon them twice.
I remember running dark valkyrie in my fairy deck. So it was basically vahalla to special, gemini summon, pop a monster on field, direct attack. Though that effect isn't very useful lately due to all the destruction protection.
Dragon spirit of white is the best “Gemini “ monster to date hands down
Kingsley Goffe one of the best in my Red-Eyes build because it can be returned
Hanmacx that and you can add azure-eyes since it bring back normal monster during each of your standby phase so it’s like a return of the red eyes especially for red-eyes black flare which is a Gemini and I don’t know why he didn’t mention it it has a nice burn effect whenever it battle regardless if the monster survive or if your opponent didn’t get deal with battle damage
Kingsley Goffe flare dragon need to survive the battle, so you need to protect it
Hanmacx yeah but with return of the dragon lord as well as having a nice body it shouldn’t be that bad of a deal breaker.
Why did I watch this. I have never even played Yugioh or owned and of its cards...
Game mechanics fascinating. Make brain release the good juice.
@@terry3906 squeeze😆😆😆
I played a neo-spacian deck for a while. I used Neos Alius because it turns out that protecting him for a turn and re-normal summoning him can sometimes be easier than summoning the regular neos.
But the deck was bad though.
Way they could fix it is make it so the 2nd effect activates when 1 gemini monsyor is on the feild also change some the weaker ones to special summon from the hand to get the combo going
Correct me if I'm wrong would that dragon spirit of white is a Gemini without the type
It is not a Gemini, no
dzeeff I meant it is Gemini without the name. Cause it is treated as a normal monster.
You don't have to summon it for it to get its effect. It's just an effect monster that's treated as a normal monster in the hand and graveyard only. Gemini monsters are always treated as normal monsters until they're normal summoned from the field (unless another card's effect says otherwise).
Your thoughts on Dark Valkyria? One of my personal fave gemini cards
There’s only one way to fix Gemini monsters:
1) Make it so that they’re always treated as Normal and Effect monsters in the hand, deck, and GY
2) Make it so they can be summoned as normal or effect monsters or make it so that you don’t require an unused normal summon to Gemini summon
Those are the only things that’ll make today’s meta not only want to play them, but warrant all the stupid restrictions Konami put on them
Time to build a pendulum Gemini deck
fhsrthj jtryhjert Nani?! Lol jk have fun
I ran a playset of Dark Valkyria because she was an 1800 beater that worked with Dark Creator and Future Fusion. Looking back, she was a pretty big part of the deck, but the only time I'd ever use her effect was after special summoning her from the Graveyard.
You should do a discussion on Toons
Red eyes archfiend of lightning is actually very good. A lot of monsters have low/no defense so a once per turn essentially raigeki is good, the problem is that it’s a red eyes monster
that is he advantage actualy, just send to the graveyard with Insight and use Red Eyes Return to special summon from the grave and boom.
Raigeki
I put a Neos Alius in literally every DL deck I make where I just need a level 4 beatstick, and I for some reason cant get one from whatever archetype I'm using (mostly for moral support tbh),
tho I've also been looking into playing a full Gemini deck, because they're not competitive, but they seem actually fun with the support of Chemicritters, which I'm not looking forward to unlocking at how high a level I need to get Bastion to play 'em
Lol make rescue badger, and have it special summon 2 level 4 or lower gemini monsters. or something
I'd love to see spirits come back in one way or another. Had a lot of fun with dark dust spirit back in the day.
Though if you're just building it for a fun duel, with a taste of challenge to get the win in most cases, then yes Gemini can be fun sometimes.
didn't Valkria and Crusader of Endymion see some play for a time in spell counter decks?
I noticed that they don't print gemini monster or even cards anymore... they should gibe gemino a good deck and a lot of suppot to be played again
No one ever mentions that these monsters do have a fusion monster i no its not like reallllyyy competitive viable per say but its a decent monster that gives all ur genimis there effect and its easy to summon and u can dragons mirro it out to. There are other support cards to that they have that arnt like super terrible u need to do more research imo but honestly there better than a lot of other archetypes.
ynnaD2413 doesn't they also has a synchro dragon where you can discard Gemini monster?
Running a deck of bad cards with one card that makes them somewhat playable probably isn't a good idea.
Oh man hearing you talking about the HERO builds like they’re ancient makes me feel so old and so sad and nostalgic
A few years back I had a Gemini build that wasn’t terrible it revolved around rank four xyz and level 8 synchcros. It wasn’t bad and I scraped out a few tops at locals. However it flopped after ROTA was re-limited. Gemini Scorpion was a key card
So which is better, Gigaplant or IL Blud?
neos allius has an effect to gain an effect to become a normal monster
*most competitivly viable gemini monstert huh?*
The reason they failed it is simple. You have to normal summon them 2 times. And you can only normal summon 1 time per your turn. So too slow.
@@phobiawitch835 Fair enough. Play your own way. I won't stop you.
Do you think pendulum summoning somewhat helps with them? I mean obviously you could still only activate one effect but I guess it beats waiting two turns for it
4:33 - that was sarcasm, right? Changing battle position can be super useful
Do you have to tribute for the 2nd normal summon?
Catalyst Field was used in certain Red Eyes variants. Didn’t help Red Eyes too much though, since said variant was kinda slow.
recent Red-Eyes cards had success, and Darkstorm Dragon was used in Blue-Eyes and Galaxy-Eyes decks back in the day as a dark monster and a lv 8
Featherizer to send what ever card you want to the grave yard
Gemini summoner to special summon during your openness end phase to normal summon during your main to gain effect.
Blazewing with supervise to bring out 2 Gemini monsters sent to the grave special summon
Dark wing dragon special summoned via blazewing blows up back line, if equipped with with supervise brings out second high level from Graveyard.
Later though I found Madolches and never looked back.
how about hand trap(like nekroz) gemini monsters to make them multi purpose?
Reeeetttt my Skelesaurus got an OTK this one time where I boosted its attack up and killed a 9000 attack monster after switching it to defence mode with a spell then getting Skelesaurus' Gemini Effect off and taking it and OTKing my opponent SCREEEECH
I was thinking about a quick play spell card for gemini:
“You can only activate a card with [this card name] once per turn.
The gemini mecanic is another way to balance the game out and make it more interesting in my opinion
i like the idea of it as a mechanic. they just need to be dramatically more powerful
This
Ran a normal dragon deck with Gemini dragons.
You can easily fix the problem of gemini monsters which you talked about having too many "normal" monsters in your deck that requires extra support to work:
Pendulum gemini monsters. Give them pendulum effects that allow you to treat targeted/all gemini monsters to gain effects.
On top of that, you can given them an easy to summon link monster that further gives you quick access to Raptinus.
I always thought they were always treated as normal monsters with effects at the same time. That would’ve been so cool and unique
I STILL DONT GET IT,
loop each turn

or do it once and its good to go with effects each turn (king pyro lets say)
and can i special summon it and then normal summon it?
What about Evocator Chevalier. He was descent in his deck and he had pretty ridiculous equip combos
They should make the half normal half effect like pendulums are half monster half spell
Rival Hugh there already are those, pendulum monsters without effects and effect monsters already exist
pendulums are half spell, geminis should be half normal half effect
Rival Hugh Well who would use their normal mode then?
the text to normal summon them as an effect would still be there
Rival Hugh Well then that would be pointless because that's exactly what Gemini's are.
What do you think of ancient gear?
Maybe people can find a way to improve them
what about the gemini red eyes card?
Any chance of seeing a "Why Nobody Plays Darkstorm Dragon"? I was surprised to not see that card in this video. It seems like one of those "casual bait" cards with an effect that is clearly powerful on the surface, but cumbersome to actually use, and IIRC Konami did throw it into one of the dragon structure decks.
I do feel the same way about geminis, theres some gemini esc decks the best of which is either Chemicriters or Red Eyes that actually do have good gemini effects (Chemicritter Oxy Ox, Red-Eyes Archfiend of Lightning) but neither deck has the consistency or power to make them relevant
Something thats bothered me about Chemicritters since their release actually was their boss monsters being one level/rank too high for Red Eyes cards to be mixed in, were they actually that afraid of seeing gemini decks existing or doing anything.
The only Gemini Monster I remembered was Grasschopper which was a 2350 insect that attacked the entire enemy party.
No mention of Evocator Chevalier? I find that rude. There was a great combo of with him and supervise.
I was surprised you didn’t include the XYZ Vola-Chemicritter Methydraco it’s a good boss monster for the Gemini monsters.
