I have no words to describe how amazing, how magical amd beautiful this music is. My mom is 73 years old and a devoted Christian and she does not listen to secular music. One day she came in my room and I was watching On the turning away from this same concert. The song literally started when she walked in the room. She immediately said that sounds beautiful. I said you have no idea. Please sit down and watch it with me. She watched the whole song and was blown away by the guitar solo. She said wow that was impressive. I told her thats Pink Floyd. She never heard of it before.
I understand that. I always thought this was one of the most underestimated songs from Momentary Lapse of Reason. It was so simple and brilliant in its description of Hollywood both good and bad. FYI - I went to one of the concerts of this tour at the Tennis Centre in Melbourne Australia. They had the roof closed and used it for the laser show. For a lot of the concert people simply looked up at the ceiling, watched the light show and listened. It was incredible and hard to describe. Thankfully now everyone can get to see and hear it in part.
This Venice PF concert, broadcasted live on television, was my first real encounter with Pink Floyd's music. I was struck with awe. Such incredible great music. Only a year before, I had declined an invite to join 2 older friends to a PF concert in The Netherlands, as I only knew Another Brick in the Wall and Money. How stupid had I been!?!?! I'm a massive PF ever since. Alas only seen them really live once, Feyenoord Stadium "De Kuip", Rotterdam, Netherlands, Sunday 4th of September 1994. My best concert ever. There isn't a day anymore, without Pink Floyd's music.❤
Certainly, it is a very "movieish" and thriling song, yet some underrated but anyway, I'm fully in love with AMLoR, specially live, that is where the songs reach its full expression wideness. Cheers and thank you for stopping by in the channel!
Another very good edition. At 04:11 a good drum session begins and the camera is very far away. Whoever originally filmed this concert definitely doesn't know anything about Pink Floyd.
@@jasonedwardledburynewzeala9897 Realy ? Did you ever see AMLOR cover with a Pink Floyd name on it ? WTF ??? So in your logic The Final cut is Roget Solo ? The wall is Roger solo, Animals in Roger solo ? The Piper is a Syd solo ? A momentary lapse of reason IS a Pink Floyd album, full stop!
😮 Wordless...😮 I must tell you I've never seen the Mr.Screen video from this track - where was it ? Was it from the Later Years box ? Fantastic. My very personal advice is : if you are working towards the full concert, don't add it. It has never used during the tours. BTW compliments as ever for the work.❤ Hope they don't hurt you for the copyrights, too. You wouldn't deserve it.
Hi there. As I briefing in the description below, this is a special edition I put together on-the-fly to bring the full picture of the song and some of its inspiration sources together, to give something of interest specially for AMLOR lovers. These are not screen films from The Later Years, they are fragments from the movies that I restored and adapted using the "official style" to pair it with the song. Cheers and thank you for commenting.
As I stated in the description, that was part of their creative process of the song, both were inspiration sources but sure they must have some specific meaning/s as well. By one hand in the case of Casablanca for example you have the phrase "but, what about us?" repeated three times. BTW the number three appears repeteadly in different places in this album too, such as the fighter plane in learning to fly whch has three stripes painted on its wings. One-Eyed Jacks scene seems to talk about some kind of betrayal-ish situation itself, you got to read in between lines but you know, one great part of Pink Floyd's beauty are those second or third readings in their contents, which give the listener the place to make its own mind about them. Cheers and thank you for stopping by.
Ciao. Per me li vale fino all'ultimo centesimo!

Great story. Thank you for sharing.
❤
This has to be my favorite song by Pink Floyd....so underrated so overlooked. This is a treasure.

some men listened to jesus during his lifetime,
others listened to mozart,
we had the chance to listen to pink floyd
Just something about this song with Round and Around to finish it off, Unique, no other band can match the vibes Pink Floyd create
Its a David Gilmour Solo Song. No other members of Pink Floyd were Part of AMLOR! although it has Awesome Pink Floyd Vibes.

Is there a story why PF used one-eyed Jacks as a layering track for this song?
