I emailed Carframo in Canada and explained that the locking pin had failed and they posted me out a spare after I provided details of the series II fan. The pin that failed was actually a series 1 but the locking pin appears to be exactly the same as expected - so while they wouldnt supply me (free or paid) a locking pin for the series I (as it was a discontinued product), when I emailed them previously - they did supply the replacement when I stated that it was the series II. So really happy with customer service for a current product.
Excellent video, really useful. We have a Series I and we have the issue that it intermittently stops when swivelled. Presently it usually starts if nudged. We'll be taking it apart this weekend! Many thanks!
I’ve got these fans, and had them on previous boats over many years. The wiring problem can be avoided by minimizing the frequency and range of adjustment. The vibration can often be resolved by slight adjustments of the angles or putting it at ‘dead square’ out from the wall/bulkhead. It’s not a robust build either, understandably. The two year warranty should be extended to five in my view. But as you say, a good product.
These are the default industry standard fan for caravans in Australia and yes you are correct they are prone to failure when they are continually swung out and parked.
Update: I am so sick of these fans (series two) - I’ve had three in the past 12 months that just die - I maintained them well, lubricated the motor shaft lightly - I didn’t move them around from their set position - and the damn switch seems to just die in the arse - pulled two apart to try and repair and can’t - and all just outside the warranty period - plus I had some die before these - $$$ down the drain
May I ask how you change the lock latch pin as you unfortunately don’t explain that but - tempted to create a wooden copy as you described. Thanks for the great video

I am a newbie to electronics, so I will need details. I want to set up the sirocco II fan to a cigarette plug to operate the fan from a Jackery 500. As you know ,the fan comes with a tiny power cord that is 22awg. but I see much larger wires coming out from people’s videos.....so have they attached a much larger wire directly to the fan? Do they use those tiny o rings at end of wire to attach to post.? I hope you can help me. Alethea Dollison
Sorry Alethea, I didnt see this comment at all for some reason. The fan uses very little current and you can certainly use very small diameter wire to run it. They are are very power efficient. Not sure what you mean by the tiny o rings?
Hi I finally got my sirocco fan and have tried to attach the wiring to a cigarette lighter plug with a cord. I cut the little plug in off the end of the cord and joined the wiring up to the wiring on the fan. But only the blue light comes on the timer switch when turned on but the actual fan wont turn on. when I push the on button, the blue light then turns off. Any idea what maybe causing this?
No idea sorry but if you put it back they way it was when you got it and connect it up does it work OK? If it does then you know you did something wrong however the fact that the LED light comes on would tend to indicate that the wiring is not reverse. Anyway back track and try again is all I can suggest. When these things dont work when we change them its usually something we did wrong! Cheers Tim
One possible cause is that the polarity of the wiring is the wrong way around. If the +ve side of the power supply is connected to the negative terminal on the fan, the fan will not spin. Try swapping your two wires, positive and negative.

They are both going strong thanks - just have to figure out how to balance the blade no as they both shudder a bit.

The wiring has not changed in the series II. It's the same as the series I.

Timing feature is cool
Its great to have as often its required at bedtime but then its too cold in the early morning so you can set it run for say 4 hours and then shutdown.
