- Toby Gutermuth and his friend were in Fort Armistead Park in Baltimore early Tuesday morning when they witnessed a cargo ship hit the Francis Scott Key Bridge, causing it to collapse. (Video provided by Toby Gutermuth via Associated Press)

This is already valuable. What you are watching is the vehicles belonging to the road crews falling into the water. There are people in there.

This was absolutely shocking and devastating for Baltimore.
I can’t even fathom witnessing this on video let alone what it would be like in person. I drove on that bridge every day for three months when I lived in Baltimore.

Yeah. The heads of the company that owned the cargo ship totally ignored the warnings coming from the ship workers about the power shutting off without alerts along with other issues with the ship. That’s why it lost control and crashed into the bridge. *It ain’t right that private companies are valuing their profit over the welfare of workers and the environment around them.*
This was crazy to see, I know this was almost a month ago but when you wear the headphones, you can hear bits of structure falling in the river, sounds like an earthquake had occurred but my hearts still go out to the victims ❤🕊️

They sent a mayday which alerted bridge control who stopped the flow of traffic and attempted to clear out the contractors. Saved many lives.
it happend in just 2 minutes, loss of power, drop anchor, call mayday and scramble to figure out power.

tugs had already left the ship as it was up to power in the channel, they probably dropped anchor when they lost power, and anchor took a bit to catch and when it did it directed them into bridge supports

This happened years ago on I-40 in Oklahoma. River barge hit a bridge and sent people in their vehicles plunging into the rushing river.

How did it not make any noise where these guys were? People in Dundalk were saying it sounded like a freight train. These guys look like they're at the Fort Armistead fishing pier. I think you'd hear it clearly on the water.

Did anyone notice how the ship hit the pillar and then the whole entire bridge collapsed but it's still pretty crazy that ship accidentally hit a bridge and was trying to hold it up for a second but still how it took out the pillar. Then it collapsed and then the power went out on the ship
I think the ship requires 48 or 49 feet of water to float. the water around the piling is only 20 to 22 feet. The ship must’ve been flooring it to get it to hit the bridge.

I bet they're going to redo the Francis key bridge, how they built the Golden gate, more support structures, and probably rope things like the Golden gate has but a lot more of them

I was watching let's make a deal and cbs went to a special report and found out about it. It happened at 10:30 pm pt I didn't know until then but damn it a terrible tragedy my heart goes to the workers that are missing and there families

Am and a bridge collapses. But seriously, no matter what you are doing there, thats so unexpected.
What hasn’t really been discussed is how the back or side span on north side came up, then came back down smashed the northern most pier truss pier, which then ended up taking down three full spans of continuous steel girders right back to the expansion joint. You can see it occur in the other video but here is where you see the full impact of it. This collapse will be studied by CEE students for the rest of time.
