Beautiful. I've been making my own alcohol inks for a few years. Dollar Tree sells alcohol markers (just like sharpies) in a package of 8 for $1. I get 2 packs and double the amount of ink to intensify. Less alcohol helps the color get richer. I let them sit overnight. It's pretty easy to take out the nib (writing part) and cartridge with some hemostats. I always squeeze the rest out to make sure and get it all. Sometimes I do them in a small shallow dish (covered) and after they are done, I use a small funnel and pour them into similar bottles like you have. I even mix colors to try and get different colors. Love your channel.

I just did the same thing today. I used two packs of markers per jar, and I took the tip of the marker and used that to. There is so much ink in the tip part, I'm surprised I haven't seen anyone else doing that.

I make my own. I don’t put my “ink” into the dropper bottles until it’s completely made. I put the 91-99% isopropyl alcohol and marker cartridge in a plastic soufflé cup first. You can get them on amazon. I let mine sit overnight. When you’re ready, then you can use the funnel to pour the completed ink into the dropper bottles. Also, it takes a little bit of tweaking to find the right ratio of alcohol per color for the right color saturation. The higher the alcohol content (I.e. 99%) the better the inks will work as well.

I want to say I started out with 30ml of alcohol, and found that I wanted the concentration of the pigments to be bolder. I’m using about 20ml of alcohol now.
When using highlighters, bear in mind, the color of the highlighter doesn’t always translate to the color of the ink. For instance, purple highlighter makes pink ink.

It's a bummer that you don't get white sharpie, as that's often the most expensive alcohol ink!
Cool knowing about the highlighters, as I've been wondering about those.
I cut the plastic covering off mine, it made sense to do so.

I think your success would have been even better if you used 99% alcohol. You can't find it in stores but you can get it from Amazon. I think the colors would have dripped a bit more for you.. You can also get deeper/darker colors by using 2 or 3 markers per bottle. #ProTip do not leave the cotton in the bottle to long or they begin to break down and put chunks into your projects. lol Use throw away cups to soak and then put into bottles once the cotton is white. i think the actual white alcohol ink might be denser than the rubbing alcohol/sharpie. Maybe the alcohol used is different than rubbing alcohol? Either way while not the intended effect it's certianly pretty! There's a lot of neat things u can do with markers and rubbing alcohol. I did something similar to this to make galaxy colored sneakers but i used crayola markers. Maybe using the ink from artist alcohol markers would look more like regular alcohol ink? IDK I'm not a resin artist just a regular artist and i usually work with alcohol markers so this is very interesting to me!

I liked how they turned out, but that's my opinion.
They are not pastels, they are just extremely watered down.
Try using mason jars with multiples of each color, use only enough alcohol to cover them, keep them in the jars until the felt is completely drained of ink, and keep adding more marker felts and alcohol.
You will be making a very concentrated ink that can be used as is in tiny doses or watered down with more alcohol.

Firstly the resin cured 👍 The white behaved normally but it seemed to absorb the colour inks and from what I could see in most they lost their transparency, . Brave trial you used so much products to do this for us, so young lady a HUGE THANK YOU 💖 these are super colours and great for simply tinting resin or mixing with the white and going for it 🌸✨

I have a question for you. Btw I LOVE you! So I tried to do some resin pieces in one of those mini donut silicone molds. I got everything ready and started dropping ink in. Then I noticed that the inks I got from Amazon said not for use with UV resin. The new resin I got was UV resin ugh. So it was too late so I just kept going. This morning some of them hardened and some of them have liquid and ink still on top. Do you think they are a waste? I have not taken them out of the mold yet. This was my first try ever using alcohol inks. Thanks!

With the culture cast resin staying sold out, is there another brand you can recommend that produces similar results for a beginner?

This is so cool! I feel like a stronger alcohol content, and maybe less of it volume wise could make this work even better! I really want to try this!
