How to Install the STRONGEST Dock Cleats

It's less about the boat cleats and more about the brackets you use to fasten the cleats to the dock with. All cleats are most likely thick solid metal, but many of your failed dock cleats are due to them just being bolted straight into the wood and with every rock of the boat, is one more tug against the wood making those weaker and weaker. You MUST use through-bolts with nuts to prevent this. And even better, use the L brackets.
