- I purchased this watch from jmvanauto (5124) on ebay. He's based in Canada, and it was a smooth transaction. I have no affiliation with this seller.

I wish Seiko would bring these back. I love the SKX case and we need more high quality Quartz movements in watches. I have a Tuna with the 7C46 but would love a Quartz SKX.
Same
Seiko has slowly downgraded from the 7548 7000 over time, ending up with the current Seiko 5 models which just aren't the beautifully machined devices from which they descended. If they bring them back, they would need to axe the 5 line, and jack up the price to Willard levels. Having said all that, I agree, I wish Seiko would make a high quality modern repro.
I bought my 7548 in 1980 in Yokohama when I still was a seaman (marine engineer). And still wearing it. Had a few parts renewed. (Hands, bezel ring and sapphire) At that time only a rubber strap was available, but later that year I found a steel strap (Jubilee) in Singapore.
I still wear my 7548 700b i bought new in 1984.
I have dived a lot with it over the past 40 years and it is beaten up and the pepsi bezel is faded.
Also wore it while serving in the army.
Absolutely amazing Seikos Aron. Thank you for sharing my friend 👍👌
Thanks Rafael!! Have a great day my friend.
@@OFD👍🙌
I wish Seiko would bring that model back at a fair price with good quality control because now a day it’s out of control. Nice video by the way.😃
100% Agree! Thanks for tuning in 😁 👍
I also have a fully original 7548-7000 from 1981. Lume is gone, but the watch is in very nice condition. I wish Seiko still made these today! Imagine you could buy one brand new right now!
Nice! I think they could do well selling these again. I think they are focused on Solar technology for most stuff unfortunately these day. I don't think those movements will last as long as the venerable 7548. Cheers 😁
@@OFD yeah, I prefer battery over solar. Just replace the battery every 3-6 years and it'll be running for decades! Solar will need to be serviced sooner or later.
Interesting: Value of $250 from 1982 to 2023. $250 in 1982 is equivalent in purchasing power to about $795.40 today, an increase of $545.40 over 41 years.
Translation:
"Dead nutz"= Running perfectly
"Wearing the snot out of"= I've been wearing it a lot.
I just purchased a 7548 from my birth month and year, and it's great. I had no idea about the bi-directional bezel before purchase though, so that's a cool feature. I think i need to find one with a faded pepsi bezel now. Oh well, down the vintage Seiko rabbithole I go!
Congratulations, Homer!! 7548 is a classic 👌
These Seikos look great! I think I’ll have to get one now ❤
I love the strap on your pepsi version! What strap is that?
The strap is from Swiss Watch Company out of Nevada. Great family watchmakers. The straps are super comfortable 👌
I almost bought that very watch from 4 months ago. Nice Buy! You beat me!
Thank you for the education, OFD! 👊🤝
😎👊
Congratulations Cuz 👍🏻👊🏻 that thing is awesome vintage cool 😎
Thanks man 😎👍 I'm really enjoying it
Looks like some moisture got in since you posted that short video of this watch.
The lume has gone grey.
Probably needs new gasket seals.
I saw when you showed this on your IG, so I've been waiting on the video! Spencer Klein has a video on an interesting theory why some of these faded to blue. These do look really cool! I may try to hunt one down myself.
Hey Pat! I'll have to look for that video. I love Spencer's knowledge of Seiko Watches. Stay well, and good luck hunting for your 7548😎👍🎸
Seiko BFK is a juggernaut. I think it will run forever.
I am also like you Aron I am a True Seikopath . Great stuff . Keep up the Seiko content
Fine vid ! My fav is my 2015 Sarb 017!
Thank you! That Sarb 017 is classic 👌
Does not beat your SKX779 find surely , but , Nice as well .
That 779 is a dream find for a Seiko nut. I went to the Thrift shop I found it at last weekend. Not a watch in the place 😁👍
Is there a smaller variant of these quartz pieces? I know the SKX013, but I wonder if there's a smaller battery powered option.
For some reason I think there was, but I would need to do some research. Good question. Thanks for tuning in 😁👍
Still vintage but released in the early 2000s is the Seiko SBCM023 with the 8F35 perpetual calendar movement (pepsi variant 025). It lacks the day complication but has a 39mm diameter and drilled lugs.
@@badegg2914 thx a million. I’ll check it out
Very nice!
😎👊thanks David
You named both dial types as suwa. I think you meant one was suwa the other daini. Is that correct? Is the sq dial suwa or daini?
Both are Suwa-Seikosha. Look for the Whirlpool symbol(on the Pepsi model shown to the right of the date window, blak model above 6 o'clock. Daini has the lighting bolt⚡️
Wish they would bring back the skx . Quartz and mechanical
What’s your local jeweler shop name or number I want to send my watch in
Karkazian Jewelers Fresno Ca. Zohrab is the man at watch repair 😎👍
Seiko need to start producing quartz editions of their popular divers, the SPB143 springs to mind. I'd rather a decent quartz diver over sub par auto movements.
Absolutely!!
