I LOVED Crimson Typhoon! We really need a Pacific Rim prequel movie to see more of these great mechs and pilots in action. We get a little of this in the prequel comic but it is not enough. Agreed. Typhoon and the Russians were definitely to coolest of the jaguars in the movie but they were predictably killed quick and easily to showcase the jaguars with the lead actors in it. It was sad really. It's not that gypsy danger was bad or anything it was just so typical when compared to the other two mush more interesting looking and full of character jaguars and pilots. When a sequel was announced I was so hoping it would be a prequel that would show that the two jobbers of the first movie didn't actually suck as they appeared to in the flick.

For those who don't know, Leatherback and Otachi were both Kaiju that were specifically bred to take down Cherno, Striker, and Typhoon because of the information they received from the guy *cough* idiot *cough* who drifted with the Kaiju brain.
I love the idea of the guy controlling the third arm. I have the image of him standing there holding up one arm swinging it around in my head it looks really funny
Another powerful weapon is the IW22 plasma gun equipped on his left arm(Gipsy's one are IW19), taking around 6.8s to charge before fire(Gipsy needs roughly 1s according to movie), but however able to deliver devastating blow(I remember according to related document it literally one-shot a class-3 Kaiju)
What bothers me is that Cherno Alpha & Crimson Typhone are depicted as seasoned mecs, they're both fairly disposed of in the movies while Gipsy disposed of Otachi & Leatherback on it's own ... That was too much for me, Cherno & Alpha should/would/could've disposed of one of the Kaiju before falling to the other one so Gipsy could finish it

Cherno Alpha and Crimson Typhoon would've survived and could've easily defeated Otachi and Leatherback if it wasn't for the scientist that drifted with a kaiju brain.
But the drift worked both ways right, had Newton not drifted with the kaiju brain, their plan of destroying the breach with the tnt wouldn't have worked and would have backfired
It's funny that while Jaegers are designed such that their attacks doesn't spill a ton of toxic blood when killing monsters, this Jaeger's rotatory saw arm is totally not following that rule. Thing isn't like the blades of Striker Eureka which is designed to also cauterise wounds when cut, nor is like the sword of Gipsy's which is designed as a strict last resort and is like insanely sharp, the circular saws is neither cauterising nor damaging, but surely creates a lot of wounds which is less helpful in its task.
Also, if we look at some of the first, Mark l jaegers, (aside from the Cherno Alpha) many of them didn't use fists as a main weapon, being instead equipped with some sorts of spiky knuckles or straight up blades like Brawler Yukon. Such designs was probably proven too unsafe cuz of the blood spilling, and further generations of jaegers started to be built with fists
Biggest shame of Pacific Rim was how they killed off the pilots and destroyed the Crimson Typhon and Cherno Alpha, the two coolest Jaegers in the film and the five coldest (looking) characters. Would actually see them rather than the main characters...
My one complaint of Pacific Rim (The first one we don't speak of the sequel) is that I wish there was more time spent with the cherno alpha and Crimson Typhoon crews to develop them more than basketball (don't even remember if the Cherno crew got that much development). It' still sad when they die, but in a sense of "well damn now everything just got worse" rather than "we lost some heroes out there today".
This wasn't an "origin" piece, it was an "about" piece. An origin piece would include backstory on the development of the jaeger and the triplet pilots. This was, "Here's the jaeger and here's what it does. Oh, and it beat some kaiju off the coast of China."

It just occurred to me I thought the flips and kicks in Pacific Rim Uprising ridiculous do to the fact they were of course giant robots but I see now that that already existed in the first movie therefore I suppose it isn't too unrealistic if is properly explained how it is these flips and kicks are achieved To Me the Way Crimson Typhoon achieved it seems more realistic then the other Jaeger's which seemingly defy gravity

Almost all of the mechs got pierced in the chest region, or limbs ripped off. The head was the safest overall..the beginning of the movie with GD the arrowhead completely penetrated GD´s chest, woulda been a short ass movie. This would have been impossible for crimson typhoon since their torso rotated.
Nicky Langton I can see your point with CT. it would be hard to use the mech for its intended purpose with a chest cockpit. But Gypsy was also fighting in deeper water and had a boat. it's hard to protect civilians and yourself. I dunno. I guess it would work with certain fighting styles.
I can see most of the Jaegers in the movie are reincarnations of the ones in the first movie (figuratively) For example,Gipsy Avenger has the classic visor and core that Gipsy Danger had and also had the same agility and strength. And for Saber Athena,it had the same flexibility as Crimson Typhoon,able to do flips and Kicks. One last example is Bravo Phoenix,It has the same brute force as Cherno Alpha with also the same bullied. I would consider Striker Eureka as Guardian Bravo but that can only be considered as actions rather than an ability. Because if we were to compare the two for their similarities..they are only similar in action and not ability. Both of them sacrificed themselves (yes,I consider Guardian Bravo's attack as a sacrifice). Anyways,my point is most of the Jaegers in the second film were figuratively reincarnated from the first film
Somehow i feel while three pilot jeager perhaps gave lighter brain's workload, but at the same time it slowed down their response time. For example, in the initial approach by the Otachi, the commander (? The one in charge on the back with most/if not all of the jeager's avionic control central) already warned the other two of a "presence" on their right flank. The two front pilots weren't responding, until he shout it three times. In contrast, Gipsy Danger in the beginning of the movie, when Raleigh complaining about how the HQ didn't want to take risk in saving the lifes on the boat; Yancy told his brother, that he knew what Raleigh thinking because he's in his (Raleigh) mind. Later, when Gipsy about to shoot its left arm plasma caster, Yancy only say "You got it, Raleigh", Raleigh instantly knew what he should do. The lag response in Typhoon proved to be fatal in critical moment that required them to act fast & precise in sinergy, such as when Otachi's tail grabbed its conn pod.
Ok what I don't get is that gypsy( sorry if spelling is wrong) lost its whole arm and a bit of the main upper body. while typhoon lost only the head. Couldn't they have just Re do the head so that it can carry two and find a way to use the third arm?
Why didnt they develop guns that could pierce straight through a kaijus head? Why not give the Jaegers a giant sniper rifle like weapon that pierces skulls?
What bothers me is that he says the third hand is positioned up and to the right of the Jaeger, but when I look at some concept art and images some show the arm positioned to the left of the jaeger. Is that because the Jaeger can rotate or something else???
The Jaegers were constructed by the different nationalities: US, China, Russia, Japan, etc. Save for being humanoid shaped for better user-machine conformity, and being as gigantic as the Kaiju, the Jaegers had no real set template. In fact, they were more designed around their pilots, IE personality, body type, etc, to get the best performance from both pilot and machine. Crimson Typhoon is a perfect example of this, as the three arms are meant for the three pilots.

The canon is that Crimson Typhoon's blades are ultra-heated and cauterizes the wounds, I believe, to prevent blood spillage.

Nicky Langton I can see your point with CT. it would be hard to use the mech for its intended purpose with a chest cockpit. But Gypsy was also fighting in deeper water and had a boat. it's hard to protect civilians and yourself. I dunno. I guess it would work with certain fighting styles.
At 1:53, I imagine a "rasengan" type attack will be awesome due to the hand's formation. Haha.

I can see most of the Jaegers in the movie are reincarnations of the ones in the first movie (figuratively) For example,Gipsy Avenger has the classic visor and core that Gipsy Danger had and also had the same agility and strength. And for Saber Athena,it had the same flexibility as Crimson Typhoon,able to do flips and Kicks. One last example is Bravo Phoenix,It has the same brute force as Cherno Alpha with also the same bullied. I would consider Striker Eureka as Guardian Bravo but that can only be considered as actions rather than an ability. Because if we were to compare the two for their similarities..they are only similar in action and not ability. Both of them sacrificed themselves (yes,I consider Guardian Bravo's attack as a sacrifice). Anyways,my point is most of the Jaegers in the second film were figuratively reincarnated from the first film
Somehow i feel while three pilot jeager perhaps gave lighter brain's workload, but at the same time it slowed down their response time. For example, in the initial approach by the Otachi, the commander (? The one in charge on the back with most/if not all of the jeager's avionic control central) already warned the other two of a "presence" on their right flank. The two front pilots weren't responding, until he shout it three times.
In contrast, Gipsy Danger in the beginning of the movie, when Raleigh complaining about how the HQ didn't want to take risk in saving the lifes on the boat; Yancy told his brother, that he knew what Raleigh thinking because he's in his (Raleigh) mind. Later, when Gipsy about to shoot its left arm plasma caster, Yancy only say "You got it, Raleigh", Raleigh instantly knew what he should do.
The lag response in Typhoon proved to be fatal in critical moment that required them to act fast & precise in sinergy, such as when Otachi's tail grabbed its conn pod.
The first movie was such a masterpiece, the second however........

Ok what I don't get is that gypsy( sorry if spelling is wrong) lost its whole arm and a bit of the main upper body. while typhoon lost only the head. Couldn't they have just Re do the head so that it can carry two and find a way to use the third arm?

Loved playing the Jaeger in the game, I could just spam basic attacks then go for thundercloud asap whilst not even letting the enemy to hit me.

Because the kaiju would just adapt, humans are chosen because they're far more adaptable than a Halo Array or Heavy Bolter Cannon.
The Gustav Gun took a day to reload I believe, would not function in stopping a Kaiju.
What bothers me is that he says the third hand is positioned up and to the right of the Jaeger,
but when I look at some concept art and images some show the arm positioned to the left of
the jaeger. Is that because the Jaeger can rotate or something else???

The Jaegers were constructed by the different nationalities: US, China, Russia, Japan, etc. Save for being humanoid shaped for better user-machine conformity, and being as gigantic as the Kaiju, the Jaegers had no real set template. In fact, they were more designed around their pilots, IE personality, body type, etc, to get the best performance from both pilot and machine. Crimson Typhoon is a perfect example of this, as the three arms are meant for the three pilots.
Also it made it more difficult for the Kaiju to learn the fighting styles and weaknesses of the Jaegers.

So technically crimson typhoon doesn't exist yet until a few more moths so they must still be building her
Actually it is possible that all 3 Pilots survived as they did not drown like the Pilots on cherno alpha. Hopefully the will make a new 3 armed yeager for the triplets
