It would be necesary to have all 3 pickups with the same polarity to reduce hum in all positions??? (Like suhr does with their dummy coil system, they need the middle pickup to be the same polarity )
This may work very well. But notice that the guy in the demo never takes his fingers off the strings. That's when some single coil guitars are loudest. It would have been nice to see them go through a more detailed demo.
I have a Strandberg Salen with the Suhr classic T's, I believe. I love them, but yeah.....noisy in certain situations, especially at certain times, for whatever reason... really want to try this, but what would I use with them being like 8.1 at the bridge and 7.4 on the neck?
Bought one for my Custom Shop Strat(RW Middle, 5.k p/ups) Installed professionally.. No noticeable improvement on noise-also added noise on previously noiseless 2&3 positions) could be because of the treble bleed circuit and/or blend circuit, which was factory..and also didn’t fit.. Couldn’t get the scratch plate back on properly without damaging my existing electronics. They are a bit heftier on CS Fenders and the cavity was definitely too small to fit it in without banding radical angles into the nrs system. Sent a friendly Email to Ulbrick, No response.. Guessing chasing up a warranty might be futile also.. Gonna try and sell it off..Recoup some Birthday Present money..
That is because the pickups in your guitar doesn’t have a high enough output. Each model is specified for certain outputs. Model 1 and RWM is specified for 5.5k - 6.5k Model 2 is specified for 6.5k - 7.5k Model 3 is specified for 7.5k - 10k.
Thats because they polarity and Wind direction on your pickups is not compatible with the device. It is an air coil and everybody should ask and check Whats the compatible polar Pattern and Wind direction.
2 questions: #1- What type of strat you have (vintage with 3 pickups with same polarities ?) I own a vintage 69 strat with these types of pickups and am thinking of buying one kit.. question#2: What kit did you buy ? NRS M1, M2, M3 ?? Thanks.
At last. Thank you to infinity. Unfortunately I will only get to enjoy true noiseless a little while as I have been doing this over 50 yrs with noise. I will take it tho.
Hmmm yes this has been coming in a few different designs but I like the simplicity of this Very cool I have a 65 Strat and of course no rwrp in 2nd and 4th position What I could use for sure Will go to website
It would have been nice to know the theory of operation behind this NRS system to know how it works or is it just suppressing the noise or cancelling out the noise.
Surprising this video isn’t more visited. Nevertheless, CAUTION: CYNICISM AHEAD. Methinks this really just amounts to a dummy coil. If you have a RWRP middle pickup, you need two dummy coils, which is why they have the RWM (reverse wound middle) model. Genius, I tell you. Sheer genius. And shamelessly glorified, I might add.
Would you need two dummy coils to deal with the RWRP middle pickup? Seems like the solution there is to reverse the phase of the dummy coil for when just the middle pickup is selected. (This is an extra step in construction of the thing, so it does have to specified.)
??? So apparently you think this is some sort of expensive shielding? It most emphatically is not. It is a coil which is wound out of phase with the pickups (the underlying principle of the humbucker pickup) but has no magnets sensing the strings.. It picks up the same hum as the pickups but none of the sound of the strings. So when you add that coil into the guitar circuit the hum noise cancels out, leaving only the guitar string sound. (If you accidentally wired the hum coil the wrong way round then it would be in-phase and would then double the amount of hum in the signal) The principle is simple and reliable and has been used before by others though there is usually some very slight effect on tone. This guy's Unique Selling Point is that his version makes no difference whatsoever to the tone. I have no idea whether that is true but the price is ridiculous even if it worked perfectly.
Just ordered one, been waiting doe this all my life
Can this work in a Jazzmaster?
Interesting! Would you please share P90's results?

Great question, hopefully we get an answer soon

Or before and after clip There are some older systems Ilitch design that hooks inline and has a little trim pot

My Troposphere CS is super quiet but I could use this on a 65 and 72 though

just got one for my Strat, cannot believe the difference absolute GAME changer!
Does it still sound the same though?
@@Nghilifa yep, I didn't notice a any change in tone other than it is without the stupid hum, super happy

@@jpdesroc it depends on the ohmage of the pick up In the 5's it's #1 and so on I think from an earlier comment

Does this work with highway 10 way switch?
Genius. I might do this. That or a dummy pickup. EDIT: It's $250, better reverse engineer it and make my own 😎
$250 for a glorified coil is definitely too much. You can actually build that for yourself for a few dollars .....
Can I use the NRS with a bass?

250 is a bit steep

Yeah….we love Prince…..

Seems obvious, it’s a dummy coil in its own wrapper, plus other wiring to restore frequencies that a dummy coil by itself would sap out.
@@erickleefeld4883 yes true it is the dummy coil is the easy part the hard part is how is the circuit "restoring the frequencies"
if this introduce in 70s , I think it should be the greatest invention for single coil guitar like fender or gibson p90s guitar
It would be great if Ulbrick answered emails. It's impossible to work with someone who won't communicate.
Didn't Ilitch patented this thing? How do this guy go around that?

$250-$280?! 🤦🏻♂️😆😂🤣 look up dummy coil & it’ll cost you about $20-$40
yeah, no hum. and no juicy sc pickup voice :)
