I'm an American citizen who has advised her college age dependents that they may express their opinion if asked but will lose my support if they are violent other than in self-defense.
I live in a city where the Jewish minority is influential and admired for its ethical leadership. Lately people I know and admire, all of them Jewish, are failing to distinguish, at least on social media, between advocating for Jewish control of the Gaza Strip and advocating for Palestinian genocide, and it really drives home how self-aware they are not.
My sympathies are entirely with Israel, and this inhumane posturing by local friends is the reason I have refused to donate to any Israeli causes. My inclination is to support the Israelis as the intended victims of Hamas, but all avenues to provide support ethically for me as a private American citizen are blocked.
I still love my neighbors, even the ones who know not what they do, and I cannot pretend that I don't know better just because they don't seem to realize the implications of what they're saying.

You want to be here, you want to experience a better life for yourself and family? You are going to have to get over your bias. You can't come to the US with the same mentality you had from the place you fled. Americans do not pay for students loans for these people! Noone in America has the right to make any students fear for their safety! Intimidation is not how it works!
