Don’t get me wrong Spanish is the Mexican culture, but it’s not right to make fun of other Mexican descendants who don’t speak Spanish. If they make fun of you, then use this argument to determine who is a “real” Mexican.
I feel it how do you’re parents only speak Spanish and you don’t like how do y’all communicate.
Simple. Both parents work hard and you only see them for a few minutes a day. Even then, they’re too tired to give a fuck about your day. It’s just how it goes. I know enough Spanish to get my points across, but I don’t hang out with people that can’t speak English. I live in a majority black neighborhood but attended High School in a majority white neighborhood. My girlfriends have all been black and white. I’ve never even dated a Latina before, not out of hate or dislike though. Also, Spanish is a European language. Why would you have pride over that? Pride over being colonized?
@@drone2936 true your insights about how hard the parents work and no time interacting is true I was decent but you could tell I wasn’t fluent so I learned man and it feels good it’s a great skill to know help me when I moved out the hood to gain jobs
My Mom is Mexican and My dad is Black af and he taught himself spanish while in the military and I was never taught Spanish but Every weekend we would go to Tijuana to visit family and I just eventually picked it up. Some kids just aren’t taught the language unfortunately.
You from SD?
I know a lot of foos that don’t speak Spanish even to their only Spanish speaking families. It just comes with the territory they live in uncompared to where their parents grew up around.
Valen verga los vatos que no saben español lol shows how lazy y'all be to forget your culture and make up an excuse to not learn it.
@@melapelan2596 Thats your basic Spanish😂 the way you talk around your homies that’s nothing more then slang that everyone else say🤣 some people don’t even sound Mexican enough to speak it, you wanna hear some butchered ass Spanish they clearly don’t care. It’ll likely only stick if your family speaks no English but even then there’s more English being spoken around that it drowns out the necessity to learn big ass phrases

@@exhalt7462 tbh he probably does speak Spanish but its with a heavy accent so he chooses not too. I know endless Hispanics, including siblings, who sound kinda funny when they speak Spanish. Every Hispanic for the most part parents spoke to them in Spanish and they usually respond in English so the problem is they can understand Spanish but not speak it well
this whole thing was funny af😂😂
If you’re Hispanic/Latino American you don’t have to be able to speak Spanish fluently, but you should be able to at least understand it to it an extent. I know folks who’s parents are from Nigeria, Lebanon and other countries and they don’t know how to speak their parents language.
Nobody has to do anything if they don’t want to. Especially when it comes down to something as stupid as what language you should know
@@nou4591 I agree. I’ve been given shit all my life because I don’t speak “fluent Spanish”. I speak enough Spanish to communicate with my family who doesn’t speak English and that’s as much as I need. We need to remember, Spanish was a language our ancestors were forced to adopt from Spain. It’s not the only indicator of being a true Latino/Hispanic.

I can’t speak it I used to be able to when I was younger but I just started speaking English all the time. Now It’s embarrassing pulling up to Mexico 💀
This whole topic is dumb. In Mexico their are over 65 indigenous languages spoken in Mexico which is why Mexico doesn’t have a official language . Also Spanish isn’t even our language that came from the Spaniards so really that’s the language of the oppressor. It’s a white mans language. And we are arguing weather or not that makes you Mexican . Also I’m first generation and don’t speak Spanish my parents died and was raised by black and white ppl and always get told I should speak Spanish and after tracing my ancestors I’m Mayan and moved to Mexico to learn more about my culture and guess what they don’t speak Spanish lol they are still speaking their native tongue but I’m trying to learn both

Yea our first language is Spanish but my grandma for reals told my nephew if you come talk to me you better talk in Spanish
Spanish is a European language and most latinos in north america feel bad for not learning Spanish, but thats not their language. “Mexicans” are literaly a crossbreed between white people from europe and the native population. If anything we should encourage the learning of different native languages for latinos besides spanish. For example, I am a translator for my tribe. I know 3 languages. There is absolutely no harm in teaching your children how to speak in different tongues. It gives them advantages.
Facts spanish was a European language that was forced on natives americans during oppression!
Still shouldn’t use it as an excuse for at least not trying to learn
@@brandonvargas5728 learn for what though? Most of the world is westernized, most countries speak the same English dialects as Americans! Spanish used to be the main language because spaniards were colonizers but the last colonizers were british so most places speak English

@@tecumsehzacateco8798 threes very minimal difference. If you speak one you can damn near understand and speak both. And it doesnt change how that language got to you.
